Kurt sighed, shifting slightly against the warm body pressed beside him as he remembered the previous week.
*Flashback*
"Kurt! Kurt, we're here!" Kurt woke with a start, blinking blearily up at his boyfriend, "Get up!"
"Come on, kid. We need to set up the tent before it gets dark." Burt called from the front seat.
Kurt groaned and reached up to take Blaine's hand which helped him to stand. Blaine grinned and started pulling on Kurt's hand, yanking him out of the car and dragging him towards the tent.
"Wait, I thought you said the we still needed to set the tent up."
"Nope. That was just a lie to get you out of the car." Burt grinned, appearing next to Kurt and gesturing behind him, "We've got the barbecue up."
Kurt glared at Blaine, "I can't believe you'd lie to me."
Blaine rolled his eyes, "Stop being such a drama queen and come eat some hot dogs."
-_-_-
"All this meat is going straight to my hips." Kurt complained as Blaine attempted to feed him another chicken wing.
"Come on, Kurt. It's good."
"Just because it tastes good doesn't mean it is good."
Blaine laughed and took a bite of chicken before turning to Burt, "Has he always been like this?"
Burt nodded, "Even when he was 2 he refused to eat anything other than fruit and vegetables."
"Shut up." Kurt pouted as both men began laughing.
-_-_-
"Oh my god, Blaine. Enough! There is no way I'm getting in there!"
"Why not? It's really warm! Come on!"
"You don't know what's in there! There could be like- like piranhas or something."
"There's not gonna be any piranhas."
"You don't know that!"
"Just get in!"
"No." Kurt pouted and sat down, crossing his legs.
Blaine sighed and jumped out of the water, climbing onto a rock and stumbling down behind Kurt. Once he'd settled onto his knees he leaned forward and peppered Kurt's bare shoulders with open mouthed kisses, smiling when Kurt squirmed and tried to wriggle away.
But then Blaine pushed forward gently and Kurt fell into the lake with a loud splash. Kurt resurfaced seconds later spluttering and wiping his eyes.
"Blaine Anderson you little-"
Kurt's words were cut off as Blaine dived into the water and popped back up on the other side of Kurt, wrapping his arms around the boy's shoulders and guiding him further out into the water.
"What're you-"
Blaine placed a finger against Kurt's lips, "Shh, just relax."
Kurt scowled at his boyfriend before closing his eyes and leaning his head on Blaine's shoulder. But Blaine was gone and Kurt's forehead hit the water.
He snapped his head up and looked around widely, jumping when Blaine came up behind him and wrapping his arms around his waist. With a sigh, Kurt leaned back and rested his head against Blaine's chest.
Blaine smiled and pressed a gentle kiss to Kurt's damp hair, breathing deeply before lying back as well, the pair floating in the water together.
-_-_-
"I still can't believe you managed to get him out into the water." Burt laughed hours after the event when they were all settling down around a fire, toasting marshmallows.
"Eh, I happen to be very persuasive." Blaine winked at Kurt who rolled his eyes.
"Oh please, all he did was throw me into the water and drag me out so I had to swim otherwise I'd drown."
"I'm just glad to see you finally enjoying the great outdoors."
"Oh, I still hate the 'great outdoors'. Very much so. I can feel my skin practically burning and covering itself in spots. I must look like a Dalmatian."
"You make a very cute Dalmatian." Blaine kissed Kurt's nose.
Burt laughed at the offended look Kurt cast Blaine, laughing more when Blaine simply stuck his tongue out at Kurt. There really was no one better for these two boys than each other.
-_-_-
"Blaine! My hair! Help!" Kurt shrieked, eyes widening at his boyfriend when he ran into their tent.
Blaine sighed with relief when he saw Kurt clutching his head, finally relaxing as he realised there was no real problem, "Kurt, your hair looks fine."
"No! It doesn't! It's sticking up everywhere and it's- it's even getting greasy! I'm going to have to shave it off when we get back home. It'll be the only way to save me!"
"Kurt, seriously? Have you seen my hair?"
"Your hair looks adorable."
"It's like medusa and a hedgehog had a child, Kurt."
Kurt laughed at that, reaching up to pet Blaine's head, "I think they would make very pretty babies."
Blaine rolled his eyes, "But seriously, it's okay. Your hair looks fine. And yeah, it may be a little bit messy but it's understandable! You've just spent 4 days with no hair products at all!"
Kurt groaned and fell backwards onto his sleeping bag, "I know. I feel like I'm dying."
*End Of Flashback*
Kurt looked up briefly and stared at Blaine. The man looked so at home. His eyes were alight with a fire Kurt had only ever seen during one of Blaine's performances and his mouth seemed frozen in a small smile. Blaine glanced down to Kurt and his grin widened when he saw his boyfriend staring back.
Kurt blushed and buried his face into Blaine's neck, pressing a kiss there before pulling away and laying his head on Blaine's shoulder.
He could hear his dad humming along to the car radio behind him as he cooked their last meal of the trip. That was the only sound though, the trees were still and all seemed quiet in the forest.
Some crickets broke the silence suddenly as they began to chirp quietly. A little brown rabbit poked it's head curiously out of it's burrow before hurriedly ducking back in when a fox scuttled by, sniffing the ground with it's long, pointy nose. A few orange Autumn leaves crunched beneath it's feet.
A bird could be heard singing, the noise appearing quiet because of the distance between the bird's nest and the forest floor. Another bird replied in song before the forest fell quiet again.
Kurt glanced around, amazed at how the forest seemed to work in harmony. Everything would be quiet for an hour or two and then all creatures would erupt into noise for only a couple of minutes before falling back into silence.
And, as he and Blaine stood and walked silently over to the campfire, preparing for their last meal on the campsite, Kurt decided that he quite liked camping. Not that he would tell anyone that.
Hmm
I'm not entirely sure this is what you were expecting but thats Klainesings for ya! Unpredictable and lazy.
Seriously, I have procrastinated so much on this fic. But I've finally finished it! HOORAH! 3 CHEERS FOR ME!.. yay...
Anyway, that's this fic over. I shall now be continuing my previously on hold fics such as Little White Lies and Blaine And The New Directions. I must tell you now though, that I have absolutely no idea how either of them are going to end. BATND is a oneshot fic so I suppose that can end whenever but LWL is a bit more confusing... but anyway, I know a few of you have been missing those fics and thank you for your patience but I'll try my best to update both tomorrow!
I hope this was alright Love_tygres
