6 Months Earlier

Now, 6 months earlier. I am a 12 year old named Synchro. It was my birthday, and I was the best or highest rated go kart driver, in the world. I was opening my presents and I got some of the things I liked, a nerf gun, some model cars and a lo of bubble gum, when I looked at my last present. I thought it was just an envelope, but I turned it over and on the back was the Porsche crest, and the signature of Timo Bernhardt. I carefully but excitedly opened it, later in the evening after everyone left. They didn't know who Timo was and they didn't care about cars anyways. I opened it and it was an invitation, to take a Porsche 911 RSR out for a spin. It also said one of the 911 pro racers retired and the compan y was looking for a new person.

Timo chose me.

I was so happy! To drive a Porsche was just incredible, but an RSR? That was just crazy!Anyway we already lived in Hockenheim, Germany, so every race weekend we would walk down to the Hockenheimring and watch. It was also a formula one circuit so we had to see that. It was three days later that the Porsche arrived. It was driven and honestly, the Porsche headquarters is only an hour away in Zuffenhausen. Of course I got to drive it on the track so close by that I love so much. Timo was watching that too, and just in case you didn't know, Timo Bernhardt is the one who drove the surviving Porsche to victory in the last 4 hours of the race. He was my hero.

When I first started the car up, the 600 horsepower was all there I drove the the car down the straight, almost throttle down, It was so great.

The helmet was heavier, and my mouth was dry, that didn't bother me. I keep it open sometimes when I race, so I'm used to that. I didn't drive full throttle because I didn't know the car well enough to do full throttle.

Next the right turn to the straight-ish part with just bends came, I didn't have to worry about that part.  Then all my inertia went forward as I did some breaking to do the hairpin that is so devastating to lock up or spin in a Formula 1 Grand Prix. Then just kept driving forward yet still jamming the wheel left as there is about a half mile straight, shaped like a quarter of a circle before slamming on the brakes to do another super slow hairpin. I put the pedal to the metal through another straight, three fourths of the way down, there was the Chicane then did a right hand corner. Perfectly guided on the racing line and into a u-turn that is weird in rally cross because the back left wheel is off the ground and locks up, only on that one wheel, weird right?

After the u-turn it is a small straight with a small Bend in it, I went full throttle through there.   After the straight with that weird obtuse Angle bend was yet again, a U-turn to go down the start and finish straight. I made a 1:55 a very fast lap time, almost a new class record.

All the others who were chosen to get a spot on the grid were on a slower lap time, except one who was showing he wouldn't be able to do four hours if he could barely do ten laps or twenty minutes.

However We weren't done yet.  I thought what were we going to do next? Then we walked to pit lane and there were in the pit stalls were 5 other 911 RSR's we were going to do a full Le Man stint of racing and then analyze the results.
