"I'll be back to pick you once I get done okay?" Hera says to Shakespeare.
They were currently at Mixx where Hera was to start her orientation for work. They had hired and trained their administrative staff but hadn't done any for the front and lower staff members.
She was dropping off Shakespeare at the daycare which was currently holding a trial run / training session with children of the employees.
"Don't worry, she'll be safe with us," The lady in charge of the daycare says.
Hera nods and kisses Shakespeare before turning to leave.
"Mummy!" Shakespeare calls out to Hera.
Hera stops and closes her eyes worried that Shakespeare was going to put on a tantrum. She turns.
"Here, if it's bowing I'll be there with you and make it not bowing," Shakespeare says handing Hera a book from her backpack.
Hera looks down at it.
"Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice"
Hera had started re reading it the night before to get answers on the questions troubling her mind.
She smiles.
"Thank you," Hera says to her daughter who smiles, calls out, "bye" and runs inside to make new friends.
Hera follows the directions placed for the new staff making her way towards the orientation hall. On arrival, she is handed a couple of forms and tax documents to fill out after which she is lead to an auditorium filled with other employees.
She finds an empty row, chooses a seat close to the door at the top and sits down. Looking around, she notices the various people around her all of different races and ages. Letting out a deep breath, she opens her book and starts reading to while away time.
Meanwhile, outside of Mixx, Lexis had arrived with Maeve to welcome the new employees.
"Where's our first stop?" He asks Maeve.
"The daycare, training started a week ago for them," She says to which he stays silent going over documents.
"Hera Reynolds should also be at the orientation today," Maeve says.
Lexis stops turning the pages of the document in his hand and throws it against the chair next to him. He buttons up his coat.
"Lets go," He says.
The driver and Maeve get out. The driver opens the door for Lexis who walks into the building with Maeve.
Upon stepping in Lexis halts at the sight of the people lined up in the main hall.
"What's going on here?" Lexis asks frowning.
"The department heads wanted to welcome you," A lady says stepping forward.
"And you are?" Lexis asks.
"The Manager Cynthia Sanders," She says proudly.
"I see," Lexis says and turns to Maeve.
"Seeing as even after spending the thousands we did on training our administrative staff their head doesn't seem to have learned anything, get a new Manager," Lexis says as the staff members all gasp in shock while the Manager tries to process what she just heard.
Lexis looks at the shocked department heads.
"Are you all going to keep wasting company funds by standing here or go do what you are being paid for?" He says glaring at them.
They all immediately scatter to different directions while the MD stands speechless and scared of Lexis' wrath.
"I'm so sorry, I made a mistake," The lady pleads.
Lexis glances at Maeve who gets the message and asks the lady to wait for her call before leading Lexis ahead to the daycare.
Once they arrive at the daycare, the head rushes over to greet him and introduce him to the staff.
"Oh!" Shakespeare says noticing him. She jumps up and runs to Lexis. Maeve quickly noticing the little girl running towards Lexis moves to block her gaining Lexis' attention at her action. He glances forward and sees Shakespeare running over to him.
He places his hand on Maeve's shoulder stopping her. Maeve moves to his side allowing the little girl freely run to him.
Shakespeare runs up to him and breaks into a smile.
She places her hand out to him.
Lexis looks down confused.
"Ice cweam," Shakespeare says and chuckles.
"Shakespeare you can't just run up to people and ask for things," The daycare head says.
"It's okay," Lexis says to the lady.
"The one I promised you?" Lexis asks.
Shakespeare nods her head vigorously.
"I didn't bring any with me..." Lexis says earning a frown from Shakespeare.
A thought occurs to him.
"How about we go get some with your mum later?" He asks.
Shakespeare nods, breaks into a smile and runs back to her game.
"You have appointments," Maeve says in reference to his promise to get Shakespeare ice cream with her mum.
Lexis listens to her statement but doesn't reply and instead turns back to the confused employees, says some words to welcome them and leaves with Maeve.
Once they step into the auditorium where the orientation for the lower staff was being held, Maeve notices Hera engrossed in her book and whispers to Lexis.
He immediately glances at Hera.
The Head of Human Resources was currently speaking but unlike the others focused on what she was saying, Hera was focused on her book in a world of her own.
Lexis tells Maeve to go ahead and walks over to Hera's row seating in an empty chair, separated from Hera by one more empty seat.
Hera fully engrossed in her book had failed to realize the training program had started and was currently thirty minutes in.
"Join me in welcoming Alexander Black, The C.E.O of Mixx," The head of HR says.
Everyone except Hera who's still engrossed in her book claps.
Lexis who had been watching Hera quietly, gets up and walks towards the podium.
Thanking the HR head, He walks to the podium and glances around the room.
"A very important part of customer service is listening and getting the attention of customers," Lexis says and pauses. "You see if a product does not stand out from its competitors, then we run a risk of losing a potential customer, which could have given us sales and helped spread the word on our products. Today, you're all our customers and we are the products. If as the CEO I stand before you today promoting Mixx, my product and you all aren't paying attention or I was unable to get everyone in this rooms attention for even one second since I stepped on this stage then I fail as a product," Lexis says and glances once more at the engrossed Hera.
He points to a lady sitting in front.
"Look at me as a product and tell me my best selling points," He says.
"Your face, your aura, your dressing and physique," The lady says.
Lexis nods and signals for her to take a sit.
"The lady at the top," He says looking at Hera. Everyone in the room turns their attention from the stage looking around trying to figure out who he was calling out.
Hera still engrossed in Shakespeare doesn't hear him.
A lady gets up to try getting Hera's attention.
"No, please sit back down," Lexis says to the lady who returns to her sit.
"Like I said, you're the customers and I'm the product. As the CEO it's my duty to make sure I sell my products to you all and get everyone's attention," Lexis says.
"If...using the words of the young lady, as a CEO I have a product that has a good aura, a good face and physique or in business terms, packaging. Yet I have one customer who is here to buy my product but isn't and doesn't seem enthralled by its beautiful packaging or looks then I as the seller needs to make the first approach towards the said customer and find out what went wrong, ask how I could be of help while also showcasing my best product," He says and walks off the stage.
Everyone holds their breath silently observing as he walks towards Hera.
