Bull Riding and Broken Hearts

Back in Texas, life was supposed to return to normal for Chloe, Serena, and Maya after their wild Vegas adventure. But Chloe, always the thrill-seeker, wasn't quite ready to settle down just yet. One sunny afternoon, as they sat around discussing what to do, Chloe had a wild idea.

"Let's go bull riding!" Chloe said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

Serena and Maya exchanged glances. They knew Chloe well enough to realize she was serious, but even for her, this was a bit much.

"Are you crazy?" Serena laughed, but there was a hint of nervousness in her voice. "You’ve never ridden a bull in your life!"

"Exactly!" Chloe grinned. "First time for everything. C’mon, don’t make me do it alone."

Maya shook her head in disbelief but couldn’t help smiling. "I guess we can’t let you do something that reckless without us."

So, despite their better judgment, they found themselves at a local rodeo later that day, staring down the hulking beasts in the bullpen. The adrenaline was pumping as they each took their turns, but things quickly went south. The bulls were more ferocious than they had imagined, and within moments, all three girls were thrown hard onto the ground, the impact knocking the wind out of them.

The pain was instant and overwhelming. When the dust settled, it was clear they were in bad shape. Paramedics rushed to their aid, and soon they were all being transported to the hospital.

In the hospital, it became evident that Chloe had taken the brunt of the fall. While Serena and Maya were bruised and battered, Chloe’s injuries were far more severe. Broken ribs, a fractured arm, and a concussion kept her in the hospital for weeks, while her friends were discharged after a few days.

During her long stay, Chloe’s phone lay untouched, gathering dust on her bedside table. She was too exhausted, too focused on healing, to even think about her life outside the hospital walls. Landon, who had grown used to hearing from her regularly, was left in the dark, his texts and calls unanswered.

As the days turned into weeks, doubt crept into Landon’s mind. Maybe Chloe had moved on, found someone else, or decided that their connection in Vegas wasn’t worth pursuing. He tried to push the thoughts aside, but it was hard not to wonder, especially with no word from her.

When Chloe was finally discharged, she was eager to return to normalcy. But as she settled back into her routine, she found herself thinking of Landon more and more. She hadn’t realized how much time had passed since they last spoke. Curious and a bit nervous, she opened TikTok one evening, scrolling through her feed to see what she had missed.

That’s when she saw it: a video of Landon dancing with another girl. The girl was pretty, laughing as Landon twirled her around. But what caught Chloe’s attention was the background—Landon’s place in Vegas. The video had been posted just five minutes ago.

Chloe’s heart sank. Was this what he had been up to while she was in the hospital, recovering? The thought stung, but then her determination kicked in. She wasn’t about to let someone else take what was hers without a fight.

Determined, Chloe grabbed her phone and called up Serena and Maya. “We’re going to Vegas,” she declared, not giving them a chance to argue.

“What? Why?” Serena asked, surprised.

“Because I need to talk to Landon. And I’m not doing it over the phone. I need to see him, and we’re going in style—same car, same girls.”

The next stop was the mechanic’s shop. Chloe flashed him a grin as she walked in, despite still feeling a bit sore. “Can I borrow your red beauty again?”

The mechanic looked at her with concern, noticing the remnants of her injuries. “You sure you’re up for it?”

Chloe nodded, her eyes resolute. “If we’re going to Vegas, it’ll be with the same car. Besides, I’ve got some unfinished business to take care of.”

With the car secured, Chloe and the girls began their journey back to the city of lights, ready to confront the doubts and misunderstandings that had taken root during their time apart. The trip wasn’t just about rekindling a connection—it was about proving that some things are worth fighting for, no matter the distance or the obstacles in the way.
