Trios everywhere!
This weekend is a motorsports fan's heaven. 5 races, 5 series, and 3 racing umbrellas all in 3 days! Let's start off with NASCAR in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas period: Kyle Busch.
Yep, I'm going to cut to the chase and predict Kyle Busch will sweep the weekend by winning the Truck race tonight, the Xfinity race tomorrow, and the Cup race on Sunday. Last time in Auto Club, Kyle Busch, in a lot of ways, officially reminded his fans and all of the NASCAR world that he is one of the best drivers on the track and can win anywhere at anytime. This kind of hype reminds me of Kyle Larson in 2021. While in a different circumstance for Larson, he was fired by Chip Ganassi in 2020 for his actions during the Covid-19 break. He had to show the world that he had become a better person and was given a 2nd chance at Hendrick Motorsports. The hype for his in a way a redemption year was off the charts. After winning early in the year, he didn't look back and sealed the championship in 2021. In race 3 of the season already with a win under his belt, is this the pathway that will take Kyle Busch to championship number 3???
Formula One: F1 has returned! And something new I'm going to do with predictions in F1 races is not only am I going to try to guess the winner, but also guess who finishes on the podium.
1st Lewis Hamilton
I know, based on the first 2 practices, it is pretty bold to guess Hamilton winning. But, similar to Kyle Busch in NASCAR, I think Lewis has something to prove to hus doubters. While he did go winless for the first time in his F1 career, he still has the fire and talent to get the job done. Plus, Mercedes appears to be closer to Red Bull and Ferrari. So, with their usual upgrades that get them even closer to their competition, they can be dark horses.
2nd Max Verstappen
Red Bull comes in fresh off a constructor and driver championship win, it would be wise to keep your eye on the number 1. But I don't think he will just dominate like he did in 2022, he'll have a fight on his hands this year.
3rd Sergio Perez
A building year for Checo saw him narrowly miss out on 2nd in the championship to Charles Leclerc last year. This year looks to be possibly another step in the right direction for Perez as he aims to make a championship run.
IndyCar: Same song second verse, while IndyCar races in the USA and Canada, I'm going to try to predict it's podium finishers as well.
1st Scott Dixon
6 time series champion has done many things and has won on many racetracks. St Pete is not one of those. Dixon has finished 2nd 4 times, most recently in 2019. Dixon aims to do something this year that nobody else has done since Aj Foyt in 1979, win 7 IndyCar championships. A win in the first race of 2023 will be a fine way to start.
2nd Josef Newgarden
2nd sums up Newgarden in the last 3 years. The 2 time champion has been runner-up in the points for 3 straight years after winning his 2nd title in 2019. The desire is still there in the young man who should be charged up and ready to win more races, possibly a 3rd championship as well.
3rd Will Power
The reigning series champion now fresh off his 2nd title enters a contract year at Team Penske. While he should be retained, I mean the guy won the championship last year. He still has goals to accomplish. He could easily win 2 more races and scores a handful of podiums to match and or surpass Michael Andretti on the all-time wins list and all time podium list. The new Will Power has worked last year. Will it work this year?
