Time for treacherous Talladega
NASCAR Trucks and Cup cars will tackle the high banks of Talladega Superspeedway. The championship contenders in each series view this as a wildcard race where anything can happen. While you can't win the championship at Talladega, you can definitely lose it there. Which drivers will seize the moment this weekend?
Trucks Chase Purdy
In the last 3 years, the driver that has won this race got their first career win. Chase Purdy has not won a Truck race yet in his 72 starts. He moved over to Kyle Busch Motorsports with a lot of expectations, but with the change to Chevrolet besides the bossman himself, everyone else has been winless at KBM. This will be the last season for the organization as Spire Motorsports will buy the team effective 2024. KBM has won 100 races with 18 different drivers, Purdy would love to be #19.
Cup Ryan Blaney
The Fords have been fast at superspeedways with the NextGen car. Blaney has had a chance to win at superspeedways multiple times with this car. The 2022 Daytona 500 and the spring Talladega race are 2 quick examples. Ryan snapped a winless streak 59 races long at this year's Coca-Cola 600. After that little has been seen from the #12 team. Blaney is a 2-time winner at Talladega, so after a bad race at Texas, he could win his way to the round of 8.
