Showoff Strength Sunday

Sunday is really going to test racing drivers around the world. From F1 at the Azerbaijan grand prix, IndyCar at Barber Motorsports Park, or the NASCAR Cup Series at Dover. These are some of the most difficult tracks on their respective series schedules. These athletes aim to take top honors in these races.

F1
1st Sergio Perez

Street courses and Sergio Perez are a strong combination. 4 of his 5 race wins have come on street courses. Perez has been on the Baku podium more than any other driver has. While starting from 3rd, the sprint showed that he has the pace to win.

2nd Max Verstappen

The championship leader will he starting 2nd in the grand prix and is running frustrated after the sprint. George Russell damaged Verstappen's sidepod on the opening lap, and Max was not a happy camper, so it definitely will not be a walkway win for the 2 time world champion.

3rd Charles Leclerc

The sprint showed that Charles has better race pace than anticipated. This is the quickest Ferrari has looked since Bahrain. Leclerc was most likely going to stand on the podium that race, but reliability did him in. If Ferrari doesn't make any mistakes and Leclerc does not make any errors on the track, it's not a win, but a podium is a good step in the right direction.

IndyCar:

1st Romain Grosjean

I'm a believer now, Andretti AutoSport is the best they have been since Alexander Rossi was battling for a championship in 2019. Grosjean has now gotten his 2nd pole position of the season. Romain looked like he was going to get that 1st IndyCar win at St Petersburg, but it was not meant to be. While the previous race when Kirkwood got his 1st pole, he was the first driver to congratulate his teammate. Perhaps Grosjean will get his 1st win and Kirkwood will congratulate him.

2nd Alex Palou

The 2021 IndyCar champion knows what it's like to get a first win at Barber, plus it was the very season he became a champion. last year, he finished 2nd and already has taken a liking to Barber. Looks like a similarity to Dixon's stats at Barber where he could click podiums off nonstop. Ganassi is fast so it could be a "Hello Palou!" moment once again.

3rd Scott McLaughlin

Team Penske has also been fast this weekend to, but they have not won a race at Barber since 2018 with Josef Newgarden. The #3 is currently 10th in the standings and was one of the early championship favorites going into this year. A solid podium can be a strong start for that title run

NASCAR:

Denny Hamlin

Race 11 in the season Hamlin has had a better 2023 than 2022 was at this current point. But the same thing still happens, the speed is there but something goes wrong every time. From getting wrecked on the last lap, a late restart, controversial penalties, fuel mileage, mistakes, you name it. The 11 team can't be held down for long. On his podcast "Actions Detrimental" he said his team would get white hot. The fire is there to match Tony Stewart on the all-time wins list......AGAIN!
