Manufacturer magic for some, making music

The NASCAR Xfinity and Cup Series shall race at the Michigan International Speedway, while Nashville will host a steet race for the IndyCar Series this weekend. Michigan is a place all the manufacturers want to win at as the prize they get is a coveted heritage trophy. Who will get that, and who will fill the podium in the IndyCar race?

Xfinity predicted winner: Riley Herbst

Stewart Haas Racing has been struggling on the Cup side, but Michigan has always been a strong track for them. Herbst definitely will have a lot of experience he can rely on from guys like Kevin Harvick, who has won 5 of the last 7 Cup races at Michigan. While lately Riley has had a tough go now trying to make the playoffs, a win here will erase all that struggle.

Cup predicted winner: Kevin Harvick

Speaking of Kevin Harvick, a year ago, he was on a 65-race winless streak, and some people were beginning to count out the man known as "The Closer." But the 2014 champion won the race and reminded the NASCAR world that he is still an elite racecar driver. Now, in his final season, he is 6th in points and has shown at times winning speed. After gaining momentum at Michigan a year ago, maybe he could score a checkered flag at Michigan one last time.

Indycar podium prediction:

1st Romain Grosjean

Andretti AutoSport has had a strong street course package all season long, showing great speed. Romain was in contention to win St Pete but ultimately got wrecked racing hard with his friend Scott McLaughlin. Long Beach Andretti finished 1-2-4, at Detroit Grosjean was in the top 5/10 all race till making a mistake crashing out, and at Toronto Herta got a podium. Nashville has shown to be a chaotic race, maybe this time if Romain keeps his nose clean and not make mistakes, something could go his way to finally get his 1st career win.

2nd Josef Newgarden

The 2-time champion has thoroughly enjoyed being able to race on the streets that he grew up in. It'll also do his heart good knowing that for the foreseeable future, Nashville will host the season finale. Right now is the task at hand for 2023, finish the season off strong to close his gap on Alex Palou with 5 races to go.

3rd Christian Lundgaard

If you would have told me Christian Lundgaard, who was an Alpine F2 driver, would win an IndyCar race in 2023, I would not have believed you. The Danish driver has made a step forward with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing with 2 poles and a win under his belt. A young star with a bright future ahead of him in the IndyCars, we've seen it before from drivers who've either been in F1 for several years or look to have a pathway into F1 come over to this series and find success. Christian can definitely look forward to street races now since he got his first career win on the previous street course in Toronto in dominating fashion.
