Homestead: The home of championship defining moments

Today is a doubleheader for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series as they decide who gets the last 3 spots of their championship 4, and the NASCAR Xfinity Series has their 2nd race in deciding their final 4. The NASCAR Cup Series also will go to Homestead for their 2nd race in the round of 8, and F1 will go to COTA for the United States Grand Prix! Who in NASCAR will use Homestead to possibly head for a championship, and who will have F1 race winning glory at Texas?

Truck predicted winner: Zane Smith

This will be a final hurrah of sorts for the reigning champion Zane Smith. Zane will not be back to the Truck Series in 2024. He will be joining Spire Motorsports in the Cup level for the 2024 campaign and will shift over to Trackhouse in a multi-year deal for 2025 and beyond. A lot of people thought he would possibly go to Stewart Haas Racing, which is another Ford team, but that is not the case. Now, with his future set in stone, he can focus on the present. He wants to leave the Truck Series on top with a 2nd championship. Front Row Motorsports recently won at Talladega with Brett Moffit who was intended to help Smith, but that is not how it worked out. Now Zane can get to the final 4 for the 3rd straight year.

Xfinity predicted winner: John Hunter Nemecheck

John Hunter Nemecheck has been the best driver on 1.5 intermediate tracks. His worst finish this year at this style of track is 6th. He enters this race 47 points to the good. While it is a healthy cushion, things can still spiral out of control. If that 20 team can just execute, then they will have a chance to get win #8 of 2023 and possibly be another piece in his first NASCAR championship.

Cup predicted winner: Tyler Reddick

When anyone says Homestead anymore on the Cup side, they instantly think it is Kyle Larson's race to lose. While he can run the wall like a boss, another driver that can do that is Tyler Reddick. He and his 23XI team, I think, have had an impressive end to their year. Early on, they looked like a top 10 or top 5 car easily, but then a lot of mistakes were made on the 45 car. Now, it looks like they have cleaned that up and have advanced to the round of 8. 16 points behind the cutline, he will probably have to win this weekend to shock the NASCAR world to advance to the championship 4.
