Half road course half drafting racing
Fan favorite racing at the Formula 1 British grand prix, the Craftsmen Truck Series take on Mid-Ohio a week after the IndyCars have their race, and Atlanta superspeedway style racing for the NASCAR Xfinity and Cup Series. Summer is in full swing with hot action on the racetrack. Who will have the hot hand this weekend?
F1 British Grand Prix
1st Max Verstappen
Red Bull can tie the record this weekend for most consecutive wins in F1 history done by McLaren in 1988. If they complete that feat, then Red Bull might be on pace to have the most dominant car in F1 history as well.
2nd George Russell
While it's not the results people expected when Russell joined Mercedes full-time, he has had some stellar drives. With a podium in Spain, he is a step behind where he was last year, but since he doesn't have the car right now to get his 2nd career win he can definitely fight for a home podium.
3rd Lando Norris
Last lap Lando? McLaren have got their upgrades working beautifully, coming off his season best finish at Austria, Norris will start on the front row. Norris, for a little while, was starting to get used to being on the podium, but in a disappointing year last year, he only got 1. 2023 might be a similar direction, but man would a podium boost moral for the team and driver.
Trucks Mid-Ohio
Zane Smith
Front Row Motorsports is honestly on the rise. It's nuts to believe that they were solely a Cup team that was mid pack. Since 2020, they have found some speed, and in 2021, they won the Daytona 500 with Michael McDowell. Then, last year, Zane Smith won the Truck championship with them. The performance is definitely elevated on the road courses. In all the Truck road courses they ran, they DNFed once, and in all the other races, their worst finish was 4th. Zane's worst finish with FRM has been 2nd, and if Zane Smith is going to have a shot to get to Phoenix to defend his championship, then a win will be needed to get the 15 playoff points for winning the regular season title just like they did a year ago.
Atlanta Xfinity
Austin Hill
This hometown hero knows how to superspeedway race. Now that Atlanta has superspeedway characteristics, he has to be the favorite to score his 3rd straight Atlanta win in what has been a great year for him.
Atlanta Cup
Brad Keselowski
RFK is definitely the most improved team of 2023. They heated up a little bit at the end of last year when Chris Buescher won the Bristol night race. Keselowski was about half a lap away from winning the spring race at Atlanta this year. After becoming a part owner of Roush's team, the hard work is paying off, Sunday night can be the night he ends his winless streak?
