"Glencing" at a strike for the playoffs
Time is running out for the Xfinity and Cup drivers to make the playoffs to race for championships. Intensity will continue to rise as drivers will need either points or a win to secure their position for the post-season. Who will reign supreme this weekend?
Xfinity predicted winner: Kyle Busch
It may surprise you that Kyle Busch has not won an Xfinity race yet this season, but this is only his 3rd start this year. He was originally planning on racing at Charlotte during the Coca-Cola 600 weekend but changed his mind. On the Cup side, it has been a rough 5 weeks. He has only 1 top 5 finish, and in the other 4 races, he has finished 21st or worse. Usually, when Kyle Busch runs Xfinity races or Truck races, and he wins, it'll be a little extra positive momentum in the Cup race. This could be what the 2-time Cup champion needs to get back in the top 10 in the points to have access to those extra bonus points for the Cup playoffs
Cup predicted winner: Chase Elliott
Imagine telling the NASCAR world at the Daytona 500 this year, "Chase Elliott is in a must win situation to make the Cup playoffs." Chances are nobody believes you, but that is the case. Chase said he felt like he needed to win since Martinsville. Why? Because he missed 6 races earlier this year from breaking his leg in a snowboarding accident. After returning while not winning, he looked like it just might be possible to make his way in on points. That chance took a hit in the 600 after Chase lost his temper on the track and hooked Denny Hamlin head on into the wall. Not only did Chase fall out of the race due to damage from his actions, NASCAR suspended him a race. 7 missed races in total, and time is running out for the 2020 Cup champ to make the playoffs. 2 races to go before the playoffs, but Elliott has 2 wins at the Glen. It may be his last chance to get it done
