Having watches a couple vampire movies the other night, it strikes me that for supposedly scary monsters, they really have a lot of weaknesses.  I'm not even sure I can remember them all, but among other things: garlic, holy water, crosses, stakes to the heart, sunlight... they can't even come into your house unless you invite them.  They'd probably have stuff on their face or stuck in their teeth all the time since they can't even see their reflections in the mirror.  Also they're required to feed on blood at some sort of regular interval or presumably they die of hunger.  I'm pretty sure they're susceptible to beheadings, too.  

I guess to balance that out they're supposed to be super fast and strong and some of them apparently have the ability to mesmerize mortals, which might be a way to trick said mortals into letting the vampires into their houses.  Or perhaps getting the mortals to wash the vampires' faces for them.  

I actually like a good vampire story.  They have an interesting mythos.  But they're not exactly the relentless unstoppable terminators of the monster world.
