There's a fluffy brown cat that's been hanging around our house recently.  I've been seeing him for a while but he's always been too skittish to let me get near him.  I figured he was probably feral.  We actually leave out some food for the strays because we're softies when it comes to animals and it's a harsh existence out there for a homeless cat.  Anything that can make their lives a little bit easier is cool as far as I'm concerned.

The other day I noticed the fluffy brown cat had a buddy I've never seen before.  A small kind of gray shorthaired kitty.  I was like "where did you come from?"

I got the answer to that question last night.  Our doorbell rang unexpectedly causing our dogs to go crazy and putting me on edge because I don't like when my doorbell rings during the day and especially not when I'm not expecting anybody to come over at nine o'clock at night.  I finally was able to figure out it was the owner of the house next door.  He was cleaning the house out because the renters who had been living there (and seemed like some really sketchy people) just cleared out and it turned out they just left their cats behind when they moved out.  Just abandoned the poor things.  

The owner brought some food over so we could give it to the cats, which we do anyway, but it was a nice gesture.  He mentioned he was going to try to catch them and take them to the shelter, but that means they'll probably just be put down.  So we're going to go try to make friends with them.  We might possibly be adopting two new cats soon.  We'll have to see how that goes.
