I guess it would be a good time to continue my now monthly tradition of learning where the names of months came from. I think I sort of accidentally saw June already when I was looking up May, but I'm going to go look it up again because I want to learn for reals this time instead of sort of accidentally spoiling myself. All right. Hang on. I'll be right back with the info.
Okay, so I learned it is named after Juno, the Roman goddess of marriage, childbirth, and fertility. I also learned that the name for Juno was derived from the Latin word iuventas (i's apparently sounded like j's in ancient Latin) which basically means "youth" and is related to words like "juvenile" and "rejuvenate".
It's pretty dang hot already where I am, but in a lot of places June is a pretty pleasant time of year and it does seem to be a popular time for weddings and whatnot. So I guess I'm just saying I see the connection to Juno the goddess.
All right. Well, I've expanded my knowledge once again in yet another month. I guess that's enough learning for today.
