Last night we were going through a fast food drive-thru and I kept the window of my car rolled down after we ordered.  There was a car ahead of us at the pickup window so we had to wait a little bit.  All of a sudden I looked down at my leg and I saw seven or eight of these little fly-like insects crawling on me.  I started swatting at them and it occurred to me they had probably flown in through my car window so I rolled it up, which I'm glad I did as soon as I did because not long after that the outside of the car was being absolutely swarmed by these things.  I started running my windshield wipers to try to knock them off my front window and they were all over the driver side window.  Interestingly the passenger side didn't seem to be affected nearly as bad.

It seemed like the insect swarm was even worse by the pickup window.  I had to sit there with my car window rolled up and then when they were ready to hand me my order I had no choice but to roll it down and try to grab it as quickly as possible.  I could see the people at the pickup window swatting away insects and I'm sure a ton of them must have made their way inside the restaurant, which is not exactly great.  Luckily as we drove away the ones that were crawling on our windows seemed to blow off or fly away and I didn't notice any more inside the car after I swatted a bunch of them.

My theory is some sort of demon just entered this plane of existence in the Wendy's drive-thru.  I know they're often accompanied by swarms of flies.  Maybe someone got angry about waiting in line for a long time and summoned it to take vengeance on the world.  Some people really overreact to minor inconveniences.
