I've had a vague idea for a while to try to assemble an anthology entitled "99 Stories About Chickens" which would be exactly as advertised.  I suppose if push came to shove I could probably churn out 99 such stories, but there's something really appealing to me about roping a bunch of other people into writing about such an absurd subject.  I've never really acted on it because it also seems like a bit of a tall order to try to get 98 other people (I figured I'd contribute one story) to indulge in my weird plan.

The other night on a whim, I just mentioned my idea publicly on the "announce to my followers" feature of Wattpad.  I wasn't really seriously planning on doing it,  I just thought it would be amusing to share, but then a few people responded indicating they would be interested and that got me thinking maybe I should just go for it.  I always assumed gathering 99 stories would be the hard part, and it probably will be, but I think I also felt like I couldn't release the thing without having already collected the required number of stories.  It occurred to me I could just keep it open for submissions for as long as it took and occasionally remind/pester people to participate and maybe eventually I'd get there.  Or maybe not, but it would still be fun to collect some chicken-themed stories.

So then I couldn't sleep at 3 AM this morning and I had to get up relatively soon anyway for work, so I pulled myself out of bed and publicly announced that I would officially collect chicken stories and begin assembling said compilation.  I'm already second guessing myself a little bit.  I'm not exactly great at organizing things or recruiting people to do stuff.  And maybe I'll only get like one or two stories and the whole thing will fizzle out.  

But I don't know.  I guess it's worth a shot.  I can put a book together and put out an open ended call for contributions and we'll see what happens I suppose.  Nothing to lose really.
