As far as fictional magical creatures go, I wonder why unicorns are so revered?  I mean, don't get me wrong, it would be super cool to see one in real life.  But whoever came up with unicorns didn't exactly demonstrate the wildest of imaginations.  Let's see... we'll take a regular horse and what can we do with it?  I know!  We'll put a horn on its head!  It's magic!  

Unicorns are pretty entrenched in fantasy literature as being beautiful and mystical and regal, so I don't think they're going anywhere soon.  I'm just saying if you're going to make up something that doesn't exist, it feels like it should be a little more out there than that.  And why does just having a horn on its head make it magical?  Narwhals have unicorn like horns on their heads and as far as I know they don't possess any magical abilities.  Although, I will admit they look pretty cool.  They're like whale unicorns.  

But honestly there are some real life animals that seem weirder and more unlikely than unicorns.  Have you ever seen a platypus?  Those things are strange.  Armadillos are pretty weird looking, too.  If I didn't know that both of those were real animals, I would think they would be way more likely to be made up than a unicorn.  That's all.  

But for reals, I don't have anything against unicorns.  They're cool in my book.
