So today is apparently the Ides of March, which means we're supposed to beware.  Or at least Julius Caesar was, because today is the day he croaked.  So what the heck are the Ides of March anyway?  I do like learning stuff in the course of writing this thing, so I'm going to pause here and go look it up.

Okay, I'm back.  So apparently every month has an Ides and it pretty much falls on the 13th or 15th of each month and all it refers to is the first new moon of the month.  I also learned that interestingly enough the Ides of March used to mark the beginning of the New Year, so it used to be a time of celebration, not evil portents.  

I actually had a dental appointment today so I suppose I had some reason to beware the Ides of March this year.  It turned out okay, though.  No cavities or anything, so that's a relief.  I'm just keeping a close eye on my good friend Brutus...
