I wonder if tambourine players face the same kind of pressure to excel as people in other fields.  Are there crazy tambourine moms forcing their kids to practice 12 hours a day in pursuit of that perfect jangle?  And do the moms take their kids to competitive tambourine events and scream at the judges and possibly hatch complex murder plots to take out the competition?  Is it super cutthroat when you get to the highest levels of professional tambourine playing?  Do some people just crack under the pressure?  Do they spend thousands of dollars to get the highest quality tambourines?  Are there illegal tweaks they can perform to make their tambourines perform better?  Or can they dope themselves up to push their bodies to the physical limits of tambourine playing?  Anything to get that edge.

And what do they think about the song "Mr. Tambourine Man?"  Do they find it inspirational?  Or do they disdain it because it was written by some hack who doesn't understand the nuances and complexities of tambourine playing.  

Someone oughta make a documentary about this.
