I remember when I was a kid they really hammered into us this whole Stop, Drop, and Roll thing that was supposed to help you if you ever caught on fire.  This led me to believe that catching on fire was a serious problem that I had to be worried about.  Thus far in life I have never once caught on fire, although I suppose it probably is a good thing that I have a handy catchphrase in my head in case I ever do.  I wonder if I'll actually remember it or if I'll be in too much of a blind panic because I'm freaking on fire.  Maybe that's why they spent so much time drilling it into us.

On that note, I wonder if it actually works?  I don't really want to set myself on fire to test it out, but I assume that somehow rolling on the ground is supposed to smother the flames.  But how exactly did you get set on fire in the first place?  Maybe the ground is covered in gasoline.  It doesn't seem to me that rolling around in more gasoline would be a very good idea in that instance.  Maybe it's in case you ever pull a Richard Pryor and set yourself on fire smoking a crack pipe.  Or didn't Michael Jackson set himself on fire making a Pepsi commercial?  I guess back in the 70's and 80's setting yourself on fire really did seem like a distinct possibility.  It happened to some celebrities, after all.  I wonder if they still teach kids about it nowadays?
