I bet if you asked most people, they would consider themselves as possessing above average intelligence.  But statistically, this can't be true.  If the entire human race is arranged like a bell curve, than by definition 49% of the population has to actually be below average in intelligence.  Most people are probably somewhere near the middle with some extreme outliers in either direction.  But still, there's a whole lot of people with below average intelligence, which really explains a lot about the world I think.

This doesn't just hold true for intelligence, by the way.  You could arrange this sort of bell curve for pretty much any human attribute be it looks, athletic ability, driving skills, what have you.  I'd bet dollars to donuts every single one of us is firmly below average in many categories, so don't feel too bad.  You can't be good at everything.  Even if it seems like some people are.  Plus we all know those people suck.
