Is there something going on today?  Like something involving a particularly excellent owl?  An owl you might even describe as superb?

I'm not the hugest football fan in the world and I don't particularly have a rooting interest in the teams playing in the Super Bowl this year.  In past years we've gotten together with friends or family and just sort of made a hangout party of it.  Playing Super Bowl squares and putting a little money down makes it more fun because even if you don't have a team you're rooting for, you have a scoring outcome you're rooting for each quarter.  

Due to some illness and some laziness we kind of dropped the ball so to speak this year, and didn't arrange a watch party with anyone, so I'm not 100% sure if I'm even going to watch the game.  Maybe I'll check in on it from time to time.  I feel like it's been a bit better of a game in recent years but I remember a long stretch where it seemed like the Super Bowl was always kind of a blowout and not a particularly exciting game.  I guess some of the ads are kind of fun, but honestly it's only some of them.  A lot of the ads still suck and at the end of the day they're still advertisements.  Even if they're mildly clever, they're just trying to get your money out of you.    

But hey, for a lot of people this is their favorite day of the year, and if the team you root for is involved, there is certainly excitement to be had.  I'm not knocking it, that's for sure.
