Saiibo: A Mundane Motive

(A/N): I was originally gonna make a full fledged fanfiction out of this idea, but I lost inspiration.

Here's some Saiibo for y'all! Especially Flaming_SaiiboAce

Warnings: Self negativity, survivor's guilt, mentions of death, mental breakdown

Shuichi was still in mourning over Kaede's execution.

It made sense, considering that she had been killed by Monokuma less than twelve hours ago, but Kiibo still couldn't help but feel a great sadness for the detective. Kaede had obviously meant a lot to him.

He didn't really want to get up, but Monokuma seemed to have other plans.

"All students please report to the gym! I've gotta shiny, new motive for y'all! Puhuhuhu!"

Instead of the morning announcement, he played that. Monokuma must be excited about this new motive. Shuichi thought to himself.

He stood up, brushing off his clothes and silently praying that no one noticed how wrinkled they were. He really didn't want to admit that he'd been so focused on crying for Kaede that he forgot to change his clothes.

He quickly did his makeup and walked to his door, freezing as he saw the black hat on his nightstand.

Should I- no. Kaede wanted me to show my face. This is the least I can do for her.

Shuichi mentally prepared himself and walked to the gym.

Everyone seemed depressed after yesterday. Shuichi didn't blame them- both Rantaro and Kaede had died, after all.

They all seemed to take notice of Shuichi as he entered. He got a few compliments about his fashion change from his classmates, which made him blush out of embarrassment.

He walked near the front of the gym, noticing a certain robot standing all by himself, Shuichi timidly made his way towards him.

They stood in silence for a few moments before Kiibo abruptly spoke up. "Saihara-kun! I have something important to say to you!" He declared, his face red.

Shuichi blinked. Why is he yelling? And why does he look so flustered? "A-alright?" He wasn't sure how else to respond.

"Y-Y-YOU LOOK VERY NICE WITHOUT YOUR HAT ON!" He ran off immediately after yelling in Shuichi's face.

The detective stood there in shock, his face practically on fire. "What... what just happened?"

Monokuma showed up before Shuichi could fully comprehend the previous situation, forcing his attention onto the repulsively sadistic bear before him and his classmates.

"Hiya there, brats!"

Everyone either stayed silent or groaned.

"HEY! Be nice to Daddy!" Monophanie pouted.

"YES. RESPECT FATHER." Monodam said in his incredibly robotic voice.

"Aw! I love it when by adorable cubs come to my aid! Even if it's in vain!" Monokuma gushed.

""If you're just gonna fawn over your kids, can we leave already? I'm bored." Kokichi asked sassily.

Monokuma glared at him. "Yeah, yeah; I'm getting there, hold your horses! Geez! I didn't know you were so excited to murder your friends!"

Kokichi just shrugged. "So... are you gonna hurry up, or..."

"Ouma, please do not aggravate him." The Ultimate Maid told the purple gremlin in a parental tone.

"Ugh! Friendship is disgusting!" Monokuma gagged. "Murder is so much more interesting! Let's give you that motive to ruin that disgusting friendship!"

Monokuma produced a pink staff from behind his back. "✨TA-DA!✨" He exclaimed.

How did he sparkle while he talked? You know what- I won't question it.

"COOL! It's Monomi's stick!" Monotaro gasped.

"Monotaro! Don't tell them that!" Monophanie scolded.

"Who's Monomi?" Maki asked in a low voice.

Miu scoffed. "Sounds like a imbecile virgin."

"Never mind the that! We're gonna use this baby one one of you soap opera rejects!" Monokuma growled at the rowdy teens, annoyed by the divided attention.

"NYEH?! But magic is my thing!" Himiko whined.

"... Is that what she's worried about?" Tsumugi asked, her faith in humanity dwindling.

"You stupid bear! You made Himiko sad!" Tenko snarled.

Monokuma ignored the girls. "For the motive, I gotta shoot one of you with this so..." He chuckled maniacally. "eenie, meanie, miney... YOU." He pointed at Kiibo. (A/N: Did I just make a Gravity Falls reference? Yes. Yes I did.)

"W-what?!" Kiibo's eyes widened in panic.

As Monokuma raised his staff, Kiibo shielded his face with his arms.

"St-stop!" The robot yelled out in vain.

An iridescent beam of light hit the robot square in the chest, knocking him back.

Many of his classmates yelled out or screamed in shock.

"KIIBO!" Shuichi screamed in terror. He was about to run towards him, but the magical light beam expanded, blinding all of the students.

"...bo?! Kiibo! KIIBO!"

Kiibo gasped, his eyes flying open.

His senses hit him all at once, making him sputter from the onslaught of information he was perceiving.

He felt... weird. The best way he could describe it without being too unpleasant was probably the term 'organic'.

After he had fully come to his senses, he realized that someone was frantically calling his name.

He snapped out of his thoughts, turning his head to see a tearful detective asking him questions in an extremely panicked manner.

Was... he crying? Over me?

"C-c-can you hear me?! Kiibo, p-please! I need to kno-"

"I... hear you." He confirmed. "Sorry, I was..." He didn't know how to respond because he wasn't even sure what happened.

Shuichi let out a shaky sigh. "Are y-you alr-right? Monokuma..."

Kiibo blinked. "Saihara-kun? You seem... tense." He was more worried about Shuichi than whatever just happened to him.

The detective's expression grew confused... but it quickly turned into a regretful realization. "Kiibo-kun, have you realized w-what Monokuma did to you?"

"No..." Is he talking about the strange beating pressure inside of my chest? Or perhaps the-

"That staff... Monokuma used it to turn you into a human."

Dread creeped into Kiibo's chest. "... W-what?" He whispered, mortified.

Shuichi looked down in shame. "If only I could have protected you... like how I should have saved Kaede... I'm so sorry..."

He feels... personally responsible. Kiibo realized. "Saihara, that's not-"

He froze, realizing the boy was now crying while clinging onto his shirt.

"I'm so sorry! I'm a horrible detective! I can't save anyone!" Shuichi sobbed.

Their classmates were about to congregate around the pair, but a few more respectful students ushered the others out, giving the boys some much needed privacy.

Kiibo wrapped his arms around the taller boy protectively. "Shuichi, please listen to me. None of this is your fault, you did what you could. What happened to Rantaro and Kaede wasn't your fault, and neither was this." He spoke calmly, even though he had begun crying at some point. Being a human was incredibly strange.

Shuichi continued to cry, but he looked up at Kiibo with shining, watery eyes. "Thank you..." He whispered.

Kiibo literally gasped. His eyes were simply captivating, a nebulous grayish base with strange morphs of color and emotion, all completed with long, dark, thick eyelashes.

What is this feeling? Is it... affection? No, it feels far too intense. I wonder why I only feel it with Shuichi.

"Y-you don't need to thank me, Saihara-kun, I simply told you the truth."

Shuichi shook his head. "You saved me from myself..." He smiled sadly. "like Kaede..."

Kiibo felt a twinge of discomfort when Shuichi mentioned the blonde. Was he... jealous? He pursed his lips.

Shuichi stood up. "The others will get concerned if we don't return soon... let's go." He held out his hand.

Kiibo took it.

(A/N): DANG IT! I really wanted to write some fluff, but the universe had other plans!😠
