Jaylex (No Operator AU): Eyes on Me

(A/N): This is an AU where everything is normal; no Operator chaos.

Warnings: Drunkenness

Alex's eyes narrowed as he picked up his phone. He sighed, putting the device to his ear. "What do you want, Seth?" He asked in an annoyed tone.

Alex hated Seth for no real reason, not even he was entirely sure why. The two often worked the same shift at the nearby grocery store, but in no way did their interactions make Alex like the dog lover any more.

The other young man laughed nervously, never a good sign (from Alex's experience).

"Heeeeeeeey, Alex... uh... can you pick us up?" His words sounded slightly lazy, almost as if they were running into each other.

Alexander's suspicions grew. "Us?" He repeated pointedly.

"LEXI!" He heard someone shout in the background of the call. "Lexi! I miss youuuuuu!"

The director in training paused, pushing his glasses back onto the bridge of his nose. "Is that... Jay?"

Another nervous chuckle. "Yeeeeeeeaaaaaaa... he's kinda drunk."

"NO YOU!" Jay shot back at him deliriously.

Seth didn't even try to deny it. He just chuckled awkwardly and took the phone off of speaker. "Yeah... so... can you pick us up?" He repeated hopefully.

Alex rolled his eyes, sighing loudly to show Seth his reluctance. "Send me your location."

"Wait, really?" The tipsy male sounded genuinely surprised.

"Are you having second thoughts? I'd be fine not fetching you."

"No, that's wrong! I was just... not expecting you to do it... I mean, I asked Brian, but he never responded to my text."

Alex grunted as he looked at Seth's text. "I'll be there in ten. Don't drink anymore; I will literally kill you if you puke in my car."

He heard Seth gulp nervously. "Right... thanks?"

"You owe me, Seth. Big time." He hung up.

Alex opened his car door. He wasn't even inside of the bar yet, but the smell of booze slapped him in the face.

The director groaned, pushing up his glasses as he forced himself into the bar.

The scent was twenty times more pungent than it was outside. Alex grimaced in disgust.

Luckily, Seth was sitting near the front of the bar. He was holding an empty shot glass in his hand.

"Seth, what did I tell you?!" He snarled.

"It wasn't my fault!" Seth cried in defense of himself. "The bartender said I needed it!"

Alex scoffed, forcefully yanking the dog lover out of his seat.

"Where's Jay?"

Seth just shrugged. "Dunno."

Alex's grip on his shirt tightened. "Are you kidding me? Do I have to do everything by myself?"

Luckily, Alex heard a familiar voice blasting over the speaker.

He whipped around. "WHAT THE- karaoke. Of course he's doing karaoke." Alex gave himself an exaggerated face palm.

Alex made his way over to the table that Jay was loudly singing on. "Jay! Wrap it up! Come on; let's go!"

Much to Alex's surprise, Jay beamed at him, yeeting himself off of the table. The other drunkards whooped and cheered.

Alex panicked and caught the intoxicated man in his arms.

Jay giggled loudly, wrapping his arms around the one holding him. "Did you see me, Lexi?! I fell for you!" He slurred proudly.

Alex groaned. "I never realized you were this much of a lightweight."

Jay pouted. "LEXIIIIIIIII! Stop paying attention to the little details!"

Alex gasped as the thin man grabbed his face and pulled it closer to his own.

"I want your eyes on me." He finished seductively.

Alex spluttered helplessly. Since when can Jay flirt like this?! He screamed to himself. His face was probably a tomato at that point, he couldn't tell.

Jay hummed happily as Alex got flustered. "That's more like it..." He gave a drunken grin before passing out in Alex's arms.

The blond just stood there for a few seconds. "Are..."

"Uh... you good there?" Seth questioned awkwardly after reappearing from who knows where.

"ARE YOU SERIOUS?!"
