Ben Drowned x Homicidal Liu (Soulmate AU): Truly Secure
(A/N): I was inspired to write this from a fanfic I've been reading.
In this AU, everyone has a list of their soulmate's insecurities on their right arm.
Also, Liu's part of the Slenderman Alliance in this story.
One last thing! Liu, Jeff and Ben are teenagers who stopped aging because of Slenderman's doing (except for Ben, who stopped aging once he started to closely resemble OG Link). They're all about sixteen or seventeen.

Persona
Liu wasn't happy.
Of course, he was never an incredibly cheery individual, even before becoming a killer with a split personality, but he was especially ticked off looking at his arm.
A new word had appeared at the end of the already lengthy list.
'Persona'
Liu wasn't entirely sure what had happened to make his soulmate feel insecure, but it made him angry at whoever put such an idea in their head.
The thought made him storm out of his room, surprising even his other personality. But luckily, to the relief of both personalities, Sully decided against aggravating Liu that time.
The chestnut haired boy abruptly halted in his tracks, stopping in front of the door he was looking for. He hammered on the wooden surface impatiently.
It didn't take long for the person he was awaiting to open the door with a string of curses directed at the one bothering him.
Jeff the Killer, Liu's older brother. Well, older in years. Liu looked and acted more mature than him, so people always assumed that Jeff was the younger sibling, which really didn't help the burnt teen's already horrible anger issues.
"What?!" The black haired killer snapped at his brother.
Liu wasn't phased. "Get changed. We're going out." It was more of a statement than a suggestion or request.
Jeff glared at him. "Don't wake me up at 3AM and order me around! I need my beauty sleep!"
Liu rolled his forest green eyes. "No amount of sleep will change that face of yours. Hurry up."
The angry killer slammed the door shut. Liu could easily hear his continued string of foul language as he scoffed and made his way towards the entrance of the Slendermansion. But Liu knew full well that his brother was smart enough to comply, otherwise Liu wouldn't stop bothering him until he changed his mind.
Liu realized that his sleeve was still rolled up from inspecting his arm. He put it back down and straightened his coat while he was at it. He wasn't the biggest fan of his stitch covered appearance, courtesy of his dear big brother. Of course he had forgiven Jeff, but he was still bitter about the whole situation.
"Okay, I have arrived, your majesty." Jeff's annoyed voice snapped Liu out of his thoughts.
Liu grunted in acknowledgement. "Took you long enough. Let's go."
Despite Jeff's obvious reluctance, the two left the mansion and headed off into the woods.
"So... are you gonna tell me where we're going?" Jeff asked pointedly.
Liu shrugged. "I don't have a specific location in mind."
"You woke me up to fly by the seat of your pants?!" Jeff snarled.
"My soulmate's list increased again." Liu told him. "I need to let off steam."
Jeff paused. He could see how upset his brother was. "Oh..." The shorter male clearly didn't know what else to say.
Liu let the silence consume the atmosphere until the brothers entered a small town.
Liu smirked crookedly. He turned to Jeff. "You thinking what I'm thinking?"
Jeff gave him an insane grin in response. "I think I am."

Ben couldn't help but sigh as he gently traced the words on his arm.
He snickered enviously as he imagined how many words his soulmate's arm must have compared to his own. He chuckled dryly as he walked over to his computer.
He logged onto random websites and trolled some unsuspecting bullies, but it didn't really help lift the sour envy from his mind.
He sighed as he shut off his laptop, deciding to raid the fridge for a midnight snack. As he floated down the stairs to avoid waking anyone up, he heard the front door open.
He shrugged it off, decided that whoever it was (probably EJ) would likely just go back to their room instead of coming into the kitchen.
But he was wrong.
Before he could hide in the kitchen television set, a certain brunet entered the kitchen.
Oh crud. Of course it had to be the hottest guy in the mansion (and possibly the entire world), as well as Ben's one and only crush, Liu Vicky Woods.
The teens stared at each other with wide eyes before Ben finally spoke. "So... ya like jazz?"
They both burst out laughing.
"What the heck, Ben?!" Liu managed to say in between short bursts of laughter.
"What am I supposed to say when a dude covered in blood comes into my kitchen?!" Ben said defensively.
Liu snickered. "You're a supernatural being and you're worried about random people breaking into your house?"
Ben sighed. "Touché."
Liu walked over to the kitchen sink. He began rinsing the still fresh blood off of his hands and arms.
For a moment, the taller boy rolled up his sleeves, causing Ben to gasp softly.
Liu noticed and shut off the water, giving Ben a questioning look.
"Ah..." The elf's cheeks warmed with embarrassment. "I was just shocked to see all the insecurities your soulmate has."
Liu nodded, rolling up his sleeve again and showing his arm to the undead elf. "Yeah... I hope I'll be able to find them soon. I really want to show them how much they mean to me."
As Liu spoke, Ben was scanning the words on his arm.
He sucked in a breath. Eyes, family, maturity, face, height, body, interests, fears... this has to be a coincidence. There's no way someone as amazing as Liu would be stuck with someone like me.
That's what he told himself, but...
"L-Liu... look..."
Liu's expression saddened as a new word appeared at the bottom of the list.
'Intuition'
"Hey... Ben..." Liu started quietly, his voice begging to crack, like he was tearing up.
The Link look-a-like's head snapped up.
"Could I... see your list?" He finished, his tone apprehensive.
Ben bit his lip. If his theory was right and Liu was actually his soulmate, then him finding out would merely make him feel obligated to stay with Ben. He didn't want that. He wanted Liu to be happy... even if that meant giving up his own happiness.
"U-um... why?"
"I just want to... see if I'm right." Liu replied thoughtfully.
Ben couldn't help but feel his stomach weigh itself down with dread. "I don't think... whatever your theory is- I don't think that my soulmate's list will prove anything important to you."
Liu frowned, his eyes narrowing. "Then why are you trying to hide it from me?"
"Be-because I..." Ben remembered. He had an available escape route.
Liu's eyes narrowed as he noticed the expression change. "Ben..."
The ghost felt his arm tingle. His eyes widened. He slowly looked down.
'Being Wanted'
The two words appeared on his own arm. A new insecurity of his soulmate had surfaced. It couldn't just be a coincidence.
"B-but..." His lip trembled. "This can't be..."
Liu looked down. "What did I do?" His voice was quiet... close to breaking.
Ben instantly panicked. "No! Liu! You never did anythi-"
"Then why are you pushing me away?!" The brunet screamed, slapping a hand over his mouth after realizing his outburst.
Blood was flowing much more than usual from Ben's eyes, almost as if he was crying. "You... honestly think it's you?" Ben asked cautiously.
Realization suddenly dawned on Liu. "And... you thought the problem was you?" He let out a shaky chuckle.
Ben frowned. "Why are you laughing?"
"I-it's just... you honestly thought... that a great Creepypasta like you isn't enough for some sequel story Creepypasta like me? And... I thought the exact reverse. I guess we really are made for each other."
Ben couldn't help but blush as Liu said that they were made for each other. "Liu... being with me isn't going to be easy. I'm riddled with insecurity and get way too clingy-"
"And you think being with me'll just be a walk in the park?" Liu smirked. "We're both messed up. It's kind of a requirement for Creepypastas to be a bit messed up."
Ben stared at him curiously. "Liu... I know that you're trying to say something, but I don't know what it is."
The scarf wearing teen smiled softly. "Relationships aren't easy, but... if we both really love each other and put in the effort... than it could work. We could work."
"I..."
"The question is... do you want that?" Liu finished, obviously concerned over how the elf would reply.
Ben inhaled deeply before answering. He tried to sound collected, but... "YES! I want that more than anything!"
Liu exhaled, relief clear in his face.
The phrase 'Being Wanted' disappeared from Ben's arm. The word 'Fear' vanished from Liu's.
Because now Ben knew... that he wasn't alone.
Whatever would come next, they would be there for each other.
Bonus Scene!
The small elf and the dual personality killer came closer...
Ben breathed in Liu's scent. The taller boy smelled like the rain of a forest... and, of course, blood.
"Liu..." Ben's body was moving towards Liu on its own. The gravitational pull of the black wearing teen was too strong to resist.
"Ben..." He paused. The blond felt his hot breath on his neck. "can I kiss you?"
"Yes... please." Ben looked into his eyes... his gorgeous forest green eyes.
They were so close... their noses gently brushed each other as-
CRUNCH!
Ben froze, as did Liu.
The elf backed up, blushing madly. "I'm SO sorry! I was just-"
A clearly furious Liu swiftly located the origin of the sound.
Ben spotted a familiar head of black hair... black hair and a white hoodie... with a bag of chips.
Ben felt himself smile wickedly. "Oh Jeff..."
The killer gulped, laughing nervously. "Ben, Liu, let's just... th-think this over!"
Liu turned to Ben. "What do you think we should do?"
Ben knew exactly what he wanted. "You shouldn't have done that."
(A/N): I'm sorry about all the angsty one-shots I've been making. I really want to write more fluff, but I've been having a hard time as of late and it keeps showing up in my work. I'm sorry if that frustrates anyone.
This next end note doesn't have much to do with this one-shot, so feel free to skip it. I just wanted to vent a bit. Skip if you don't want Danganronpa spoilers.
I just finished the play through of Danganronpa V3 and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I appreciated the story's end to a certain extent, but I also kind of despise it. In the end, I guess that was the point of having such an ending.
That's all I wanted to say. Thank you for listening.
