Jimin and Jungkook are in the same neighborhood. It was a pretty close knit community so it was normal to have crossed paths. They knew of each other even before they joined the same university. They never interacted though.

Jungkook was one of the heartthrobs at their university- many sort after him. And so he kept a cold front to protect himself and kept a distance from others. It helped that his best friend Yoongi was equally cold.

Jimin knew his cold personality was just a facade. He has seen on many occasions how Jungkook would jump in to help an elderly person or kids in their neighborhood. Whatever Jungkook showed at the university was just an act - Jimin was sure of it.

Being neighbours and in the same university, they did cross paths and acknowledged each other at times. That made Jimin feel special because he was one of the few people besides his friends that Jungkook would talk to.

Needless to say, the boy fell for Jungkook

Jungkook fell for Jimin when he saw the tiny boy ballet dancing in the dance room of their university. The man had actually gone to the area to meet up with Yoongi, who occasionally played piano in the music room - right next to the dance studio room. Jimin looked so effortlessly beautiful and just like an innocent pure angel that Jungkook couldn't take his eyes off the boy. He wanted to know more and even though it was a bit hard for him to come out of his shell, he started smiling at Jimin whenever their eyes met across the room or greet him a hello when they crossed paths.

Jimin kept his crush to himself, he didn't even say it to Taehyung, his best friend. He knew Taehyung would do anything to get them together. Taehyung was sweet like that. He didn't want to force Jungkook to like him. He didn't want Jungkook like that. Jimin was just content watching Jungkook being happy and healthy. Maybe it was also because he knew Jungkook was single but what is gonna happen when the man starts dating? And with none other than his best friend Taehyung.

Jimin was heart broken - he wanted to hate both Jungkook and Taehyung but can he really? Both of them didn't know that Jimin fancied Jungkook. It was not like they were trying to hurt him on purpose. He couldn't watch the two be close and so Jimin starts avoiding Taehyung as much as he could. He also stopped acknowledging Jungkook

Taehyung never told Jimin that he had a crush on Jungkook's best friend Yoongi. He felt Jimin would discourage him as the boy was really protective of him. Yoongi was known as the boyboy of their university, his cold glares would make anyone panic and Taehyung knew Jimin wouldn't want him to get hurt.

Yoongi on the other hand never tells Jungkook that he liked Taehyung due to his cold nature, he couldn't express himself. He just resorted to watching the boy across the room. Jungkook had noticed it too - at first he thought his hyung liked Jimin and he got jealous but then Jungkook started observing his hyung and understood it was Taehyung, the man had his eyes on.

Jungkook finally decides to help his hyung and approaches Taehyung to find out if he liked anyone. He took it as an opportunity to see if Jimin liked anyone as well. And that's how the two make a plan to act like they are dating to get Yoongi to confess

Jungkook finds it weird that Jimin was avoiding him these days. Earlier, Jimin would always be around to watch his basketball games or jump in to help him with flashcards for easier revising. Literally any excuse to be in Jungkook's vicinity.

Jungkook feels hurt at the tiny boy's behavior. He missed the boy terribly and decides to finally confront Jimin

The next day, Jungkook waits for the boy. As soon as he spots Jimin, he goes to him

"Hey Jimin... can we talk?"

Jimin was about to say something when Taehyung approaches them

"Hi guys..."

Jimin looks at Taehyung and then at Jungkook before he sighs

"Hi .. I'm kinda busy so....excuse me.."

Jimin leaves just like that.

Jungkook frowns before running behind Jimin. He drags the boy to the rooftop

Taehyung's eyes tear up as he watches the two head out. He feels hurt that Jimin isn't talking to him as freely as before

Yoongi who had been seeing all this, goes to the boy, pulling Taehyung aside to an empty classroom before wiping the tear that escaped the boy's eyes

"Who got baby Tae crying?" Yoongi asks making Taehyung's heart picks up pace "Are you upset that your boyfriend went with Jimin?"

"No... I'm upset because my best friend is avoiding me... and Jungkook isn't my boyfriend..."

Yoongi is surprised "What?"

Taehyung is upset and confesses in his frustration "...I just did it to get you jealous... but now I lost my bestfriend too... and I don't even know why"

Yoongi is silent as he processes this information before he smashes his lips against Taehyung's unsuspecting lips

"You are so stupid ... I love you too"

Taehyung sobs as he hugs the man who hugs him back

Jungkook drags Jimin to the rooftop. The boy tries to shrug himself off but Jungkook is too strong. Internally though Jimin's heart was loving it

Jungkook pulls Jimin in front of him, leaving his hand. Jungkook runs a hand through his hair, a bit frustrated

"Why are you avoiding me?" A low growl resonated

"I-I'm not.."

"Really? You are not?" Jungkook asks sarcasm evident in his voice as he walks forward. Jimin walks back on reflex "...you run away when I come to ask you anything, you avoid eye contact with me... you act like you don't hear me greeting you......"

"I... I was just busy"

"Busy huh? Busy everytime I am near you.. you won't even look at me...."

Jimin gasps feeling the wall behind him. Jungkook towers over him, making him realize how small he is compared to the buffed up man

"Why are you ignoring me? Why are you not talking to Taehyung?"

Jimin feels hurt that Jungkook is concerned about Taehyung but happy that two people in his life found each other. He is conflicted with his own emotions.

"Answer me!" Jungkook says slamming both his palms on the wall next to Jimin's face

"Because I love you!" Jimin says making Jungkook's hand loosen from the wall "...but you love my best friend..." Jungkook is processing the information "...I am happy for you guys but I can't pretend that it doesn't hurt... I have loved you for so long... but I can't and wouldn't ever come between two of the most important people in my life.. and to have my sanity ... I need to keep away from you both..." Jimin couldn't help the sobs that escaped his lips, as he looked down

Jungkook hooks his index finger below Jimin's chin, making the boy look at him

"I love you too" and before he could process anything, Jungkook is already pulling him into a passionate kiss which Jimin returns shortly

They are both breathless when they pull away from the kiss. Jungkook is cupping his face as they rest their foreheads against each other

"I love you. I love you so much..." Jungkook pulls away "...I'm not dating Taehyung... we were just acting to get Yoongi jealous... he likes hyung..."

"Oh..." Jimin looks away embarrassed

Jungkook chuckles at that before pulling the boy into a hug

"I'm so glad that this worked out better than I thought.. I was hoping to spend some time with you and make you love me back while on the act of dating Taehyung... it would be like hitting 2 birds with 1 stone... I didn't know you liked me already... this is so much better...." Jungkook chuckles when he hears Jimin whine against his chest

Jungkook caresses the boy's hair and back "I love you Jimin"

"I love you too"
