Jungkook and Jimin have been classmates since kindergarten. They were in almost every division together and they lived in the same neighborhood. They didn't really talk much to each other but they smiled at each other and acknowledged the other if their eyes happened to meet across the room. Finally after being classmates for so long, they were put in projects and interschool dance competitions from when they were 13 years of age. It was the time the two knew they really liked the other's company but they still interacted as classmates and didn't progress to being friends. Their friend and family circle were entirely different. Jungkook was lower middle class while Jimin was higher middle class and it just didn't make sense to just hang out as they both had their own responsibility towards their social life. They resorted to just being classmates they admired from a distance.

It was their graduation day, it was the day they thought to finally confess to each other. They both knew that there was just something that attracted each other - Jungkook was sure Jimin wouldn't reject him and Jimin was certain that the man liked him back.

The graduation ceremony was done and the two were surrounded by their loved ones and well wishers. Even though they were in their own huddle, the two couldn't help but occasionally look over at the other, biting their lips in anticipation for the upcoming confession.

Jimin had just excused himself to the washroom, and Jungkook seeing that excuses himself as well only to stop in his path when he hears Mrs Park talking to her sister

"I can't believe my baby Ji is getting married....he just graduated today and is already going to start a family.." Jungkook's heart picks up pace "...A/N is a nice girl. She is rich, smart and independent...I know her since she was 10 years old...she used to take care of my Jiminah....I can't believe his favorite babysitter is going to be family soon...."

"I know but A/N is older...."

Mrs Park hits her sister slightly "Oh come on... who cares about that in this day and age... all that matters is they like each other... a girl being older in the relationship is sometimes better..."

Jungkook could feel his heart break, his eyes tear up, his throat burning up - I'm too late

Meanwhile,

Jimin had just gotten out of the washroom to hear Mr Jeon talk proudly about Jungkook to his friend

"I knew my son could do it. Even before he graduated, he got accepted into HYBE college..."

"HYBE? Wow... that's impressive and really hard to get into... he must have worked so hard for that..."

"He did... he poured in his blood sweat and tears for it... he hardly slept or ate..." Mr Jeon tears up a bit "...my only son and he never disappointed me..."

"Won't you miss him since he will be far away?"

"I'm going to move there with him. I already talked about my transfer..."

Jimin has a mix of emotions. He is very happy that Jungkook was achieving all that he set out to have but his own dreams were different, he wanted to go to Seoul university and there was no way he could confess and cause a burden to Jungkook's plans and dreams. Their future was uncertain and he couldn't risk a long distance relationship. He felt it better to keep his feelings to himself. Afterall, maybe Jungkook never looked at him that way and whatever he imagined was just a unspoken wish

And just like that, Jungkook and Jimin part ways

Jungkook and Jimin had no connections whatsoever. Though they were tempted to check up on each other through social media, they stopped themselves because they knew knowing more would only hurt them - but the childhood first love still held strong. They prayed the other would be happy in whatever life they had chosen for themselves.

Jimin became a teacher back at the school he studied at. He had just finished his mandatory military service of 2 years after his college and he just wanted to feel connected to his past and relive the old memories there - they were bittersweet to him. He had actually come as a substitute teacher for a teacher who had to go on his military service but during the first year of his teaching there, students loved him and so he was granted a permanent position there.

Jimin was walking along the school grounds like he often did. It was quite early, only the janitors were there, setting the classes up. Everyday, it was a habit for the boy to walk along the rooms and paths that he spent staring at Jungkook and relive the memories - some made him happy, some blush, some just made him sad.

Jimin sighed and turned around to walk to the other side of the building when he saw a tall man talking to the janitor.

A shiver ran down Jimin's spine. He doesn't know why but the man looked oddly familiar though he could only see his back. The man's body language - nostalgic

Jungkook

Jimin chuckled at himself. I must be missing you too much today

Jimin shakes his head and walks ahead and just as he was about to walk past them

"Teacher Park..." the janitor calls out and the man turns around to face him

Jimin tripped in shock while the man who initially looked stunned to see him, caught the boy before he could make out with the floor

The man chuckles "Still the same clumsy mochi of BangTan High, huh?" The man's grip around Jimin's waist tightens making Jimin come back to reality

"J-Jungkook... you are really here?"

"In the flesh.." Jungkook says, leaving Jimin reluctantly once the boy gained his senses ".... I will be resuming my post here..."

"You are a teacher here?"

"Yes, I was on leave for my military service"

"So you are Mr Jeon... the one I substituted for?"

Jungkook's eyes widen slightly before he smiles "I guess so... I think fate brings us here together again..."

"Huh?"

"Nothing.. nothing..." Jungkook runs a hand through his nape hair nervously. The janitor was long gone ".... so... last time I heard you were getting engaged..."

Jimin chokes on his saliva "W-What? Engaged? No... what made you say that?"

Jungkook looks back equally surprised "I heard you were engaged on our graduation day... with... A/N?"

Jimin giggles as he hits Jungkook's arm slightly "A/N married Jihyun.. my cousin brother... she is like my noona... how can you think like that?"

Jungkook's eyes widened - fck! That means I could have confessed earlier? Fck! Its okay it's okay. Calm down. It's not too late..... I hope

"Jungkook? Hey.. where are you lost?" Jimin's voice brings Jungkook back to reality

"Uh? No where..." Jungkook sheepishly smiles "....So you are not married..." Jimin shakes his head "...are you ..." Jungkook doesn't know what to say

"Am I what?"

"Are you in a relationship?" Jungkook asks nervously

Jimin smiles slightly "No... I have been single all my life.. how about you?"

"I went on a date once..." Jimin's smile drops "...it was more of a group date... my friends tried to set me up..." Jungkook is quick to clarify "...I just walked out half way through..."

"Why? Was the person that horrible?"

"No... the person was ...normal ... but unfortunately someone had already taken my heart a long time ago..." Jimin's heart beats fast as he stared at the man

Jungkook and Jimin kept staring at each other, no one daring to move till slowly they heard voices and commotion near them.

Yup, school was starting

Jungkook and Jimin spend all their time together- on the excuse of preparing test papers, fun quizzes or programs for their students. They started a routine where Jungkook would pick Jimin up and they ate breakfast from a local restaurant. They would eat each other's home cooked food for lunch and then the man would drive Jimin back home. They finally shared the relationship they had hoped to have - a good friendship

It didn't take time for their students to notice the longing looks on their favorite teachers' faces or the sparkle in their eyes when any one of them surprised the other during class hours. And it didn't take time for Jungkook and Jimin to hear about the rumored shipping their students gossiped about

Jimin laughs as he remembers something

"What happened? What's so funny?" Jungkook asks midway grading the math paper of a student.

The two were in the teacher's lounge, they were the only ones there. They decided to stay back and grade the test papers

"Oh nothing really ...you know I have been substituting for teacher Lee for a few months now... I had asked the kids today to write a wishlist for Santa claus..." Jungkook nods "...I read Taehyung's wish ... not only Taehyung but Jin, Namjoon, Yoongi, Hoseok... they all had just one wish ..."

"What was it? A Playstation?" Jungkook asks

"For teacher Jeon and teacher Park to get married and have lots of babies..." Jimin giggles but then his smile fades seeing Jungkook look at him with an unreadable expression "...Jungkook... is everything okay?"

Jungkook looks away and is silent for a moment

Jimin is upset at that

"Jungkook if I said something to make you upset... I'm sorry..."

"You didn't say anything..." Jungkook looks at the boy "...I am just thinking that kids are very smart these days... they know more than we think they do... they understand things because of their childlike innocence.... and here I have been losing my mind each day not knowing how to confess to the one I love..." Jimin's heart picks up pace "...Jimin..." Jungkook reaches out to hold Jimin's hands in his own "...I'm not a romantic... I'm just average when it comes to those things... I don't know how to confess or how to do any of it..." Jungkook looks into Jimin's eyes "...Jiminah..." Jimin's vulnerable eyes gave him the courage "...I love you..." Jimin's heart skipped a beat before it started picking up pace "...I loved you since our school days... continued loving you during my college years and military service..." Jimin's eyes tear up, so does Jungkook's "...I love you... I still love you... could you... would you let me date you?"

Tears stream down Jimin's face as he nods his head

"I love you. I love you. I love you" Jungkook chuckles when Jimin pulls him towards himself "I have loved you since high school too..." Jungkook pats the boy's back gently, letting Jimin sob on his shoulder, his own tears escaping silently

They pulls away after a while, Jungkook wipes away Jimin's tears before cupping the boy's face

"I love you... always remember that..." Jungkook places a soft kiss on Jimin's forehead

"I love you too.."
