whats the use in trying

sometimes i wonder myself

its easier to walk away

put things back on the shelf

play it the safe way

take no risks at all

stay off the field

never drop the ball

pass things off to someone else

never take that shot

sit at the end of the bench

never knowing if you're good, or not

but i just keep chugging

the old steam engine that can

pushing that eternal hill

never asking for a hand

you might call me stubborn

but i just have to try

truth is, the challenges

are what keeps me alive
