Chapter '30

..,..
THE WHOLE WORLD CAME TO a stop for Kol Mikaelson.
It was as if there was no oxygen left in the air, because he couldn't breath. The vampire watched blood seep from his lovers wound.
"No!" Wanda's older self shrieked. The glanced around in panic as she felt herself begin to slowly slip away from existence.
Kol rushed as he caught Wanda's limp body. The vampire kneeled onto the ground as the sharp shard of glass pierced her heart.
Kol gently shook her head, "Wanda, Wanda. Please, wake up. Wake up!"
The vampire gripped her head and attempted to shake her awake, "Come on, you can't leave me." he watched in pure terror as the red heads sea green eyes no longer held any sign of life in them.
Kol extended his wrist and sank his fangs into his skin before pressing the seeping blood to Wanda's mouth. The blood ran out the sides of her lips as she made no move to drink it.
Kol's lower lip trembled as he surveyed her unlively expression, "This can't be happening." he croaked out before clutching her head to his chest. The Mikaelson let out a strangled cry as he held onto her body.
Klaus glanced back as he heard the cry his youngest brother let out. The hybrid's lips parted in fear as he noticed a familiar figure lying limp in his grasp.
2045 Wanda watched with an empty stare before closing her eyes as she watched herself slowly disintegrate before snapping out of existence.
Klaus watched with wide eyes as Rebekah approached the two.
"Kol?" the blonde whispered.
The vampire sobbed into the witch's hair as he held onto what was left of her. Rebekah silently gasped seeing her best friend. She covered her mouth with her palm as tears began to sting her eyes. Her partner in crime had fallen.
"Please, please don't go." Kol sniffled as he tightened his grip on her.
Elijah approached his sister from behind and placed a comforting hand onto her shoulder. Rebekah trembled before feeling a tear stray down her cheek. The Scarlet Witch was gone.
Hope and Freya joined them and the tribrid fell to her knees, she couldn't take it anymore. First her mother, and now, her beloved aunt. To what end?
Hope held her stomach as she fought back a cry threatening to escape her. Freya kneeled before her niece and hugged the young girl. Hope felt herself crumble in the witch's hold.
Elijah pressed his lips into a firm line. Everything Wanda did for the family, and this was still the outcome. Wanda's beautiful and shining soul who gave up everything for their survival. He would miss her, mora than he thought possible. She deserved more than what life had given her.
Klaus weakly slouched back as he stared at Wanda's body that was being held by his brother. The red witch was actually gone. It seemed to hit him that he would no longer have the privilege to fight by her side, annoy her to the point where she would knock him off his feet, and he would no longer get scolded and put in his place by her. Those days were over.
Adira and Wiccan glanced at each other before clapping, "We just took out a block of witch's, talk about power." Wiccan laugh. The twins glanced at their surroundings, "Where did everyone go?"
Adira smiled, "I wanna tell mom she was right. I was able to free some vampires from the mind control. I did it."
The two mutants trudged around in search for the family when the two finally spotted them all joined together.
Wiccan tilted his head curiously at the scene as he lead his sister over to them.
Elijah glanced at the twins and felt his heart sting for them. This would not end well.
Adira watched worriedly as the closer they got, the more clear she heard the cries of her father. The young girl pursed her lips, "What's going on?"
Klaus watched his niece with a saddened gaze, "I'm sorry, little one."
Wiccan's lips parted in worry as he gripped Adira's wrist and ran over to their father's kneeled figure. The twins faltered seeing a familiar hand lay limp by his side.
"Dad?"
Kol visibly tensed and began to tremble. Wiccan walked around their father but not before staggering back in shock at the scenery.
Wiccan watched in horror as his mother laid across his arms. Eyes wide and bloodied lips parted. The blonde boy froze in his place, a part of him thought he was hallucinating this. This was another dream meant to torture his mind. This couldn't be real.
Adira began to breath quickly as shake her head in desperation, "No. No! How?" the young mutant let out a scream as Klaus embraced the girl.
Adira thrashed in his hold as she continued crying, "What happened? What happened-?" she cried against her uncles chest. The brunette hit the hybrid's chest as she let out another ear piercing scream.
Rebekah swallowed down a lump in her throat as she painfully watched the girl thrash, kick and scream for her mother. "Mama-"
Kol glanced up at his daughter with shameful eyes, he caused her pain. He could have done something to stop this.
Adira gave up her fit as she dropped her arms and quietly cried, Klaus held the young girl in hopes to be of some comfort.
Wiccan held a blank and empty look in his eyes, "This isn't real."
Freya glanced up at the boy and frowned through her tear stained cheeks, "Wiccan-"
The mutant harshly staggered back, "It can't be! This is my mom we're talking about. She wouldn't just- she can't. I-" Wiccan cut himself off as he watched his father pull away from Wanda's body. Carefully and delicately placing her figure on the hard ground.
Kol glanced up at his son, "I know. A part of me thinks it's all a dream as well. I am so sorry, Wiccan."
Wiccan snapped his attention over towards Adira who was weakly crying against Klaus' chest.
"We came here to save dad, not lose mom instead. This has to be a dream. Another figment from my mind aiming to mentally torture me." Wiccan had begun to hyperventilate as his hands trembled, the young mutant was panting irregularly.
Kol took a careful step towards the boy, "I wish it was, Wiccan. I really do, and I'm so eternally sorry for not being able to stop this."
"All this? Everything we did, everything we lost, for nothing?" Wiccan's eyes darted over each and every one of the Mikaelson's.
Elijah pursed his lips, "We did all we could."
"No. Wanda Maximoff. My mom! She wouldn't leave us. She wouldn't." Wiccan began to blink rapidly as his vision began to blur up.
Kol watched his son, "For our safety she did-"
"No! Stop, please stop. Make it stop." Wiccan covered his ear as voices began stir up in his mind. The blonde boy gripped his head harshly as he fought the dizziness.
Kol pulled Wiccan towards himself and hugged the twelve year old. The mutant froze in his fathers arms before slowly relaxing. Wiccan bit his bottom lip roughly as tears began to roll done his cheeks.
"I want my mom." he cried.
Kol took a deep breath to keep himself from sobbing once again. The vampire held his son who painfully cried out for his mother.
The fallen Scarlet Witch.
..,..
KOL CROUCHED DOWN onto the New Orleans's soil as he placed a bouquet of carnations before a headstone.
Adira kissed her fingertips before placing them upon the grave. She wobbly staggered back as Wiccan caught her arm.
The three had stayed behind after the ceremony to truly say their final goodbyes.
Kol swallowed a a lump stuck in his throat as he straightened back up his feet. The vampire placed his arms around his twins before reading over the headstone.
Wanda Maximoff-Mikaelson
A Mother
A Sister
A Beloved Friend
A Hero
January 11, 1989 - September 26, 2026
Two people who were always together, were now torn apart. That was the ending to their story. The end of two soulmates fated for chaos.
Adira leaned into her fathers side as she grasped Wiccan's hand. Wiccan held two roses, the blonde walked over to the headstone beside his mothers. It belonged to his Aunt Hayley.
The mutant inhaled sharply before leaning down to place the rose before her grave. He smiled as he read her name that was engraved onto the concrete.
Wiccan walked back into his fathers side and the two watched Adira place her rose before the hybrid's grave, "I'll miss you." she whispered before stepping back.
Kol held another bouquet, this one of mums. The vampire pursed his lips before setting the flowers neatly before Hayley's gravestone. "I never got to thank you for everything you did for Wanda and my children. Thank you. You were an angelic gift to my family and I."
Kol glanced over at the twins and nodded at them, the two siblings placed their roses before Wanda's tombstone.
"Please watch over us. I want to make you proud, and I can't do that unless you're watching." Wiccan hoarsely whispered before watching a tear fall onto the patchy soil. He cleared his throat and stepped away.
Kol clenched his jaw as memories of him and his beloved flooded his mind, "I never thought I would outlive you, my love. I was prepared to die along side you for when age would catch up, but not like this. My sweet Wanda who saved me from myself. I love you. I always will. You were my love and salvation. Thank you for giving me two wonderful twins. I know they'll make you proud, and I will do my best to honor your name and what you stood for. Family above all." the vampire's lower lip began to tremble as a single tear rolled down his face, "Tell Hayley, I'll watch over Hope. I promise I will. Say hello to Pietro for me, I hope to meet him one day." Kol clenched his hands as he stepped back.
He felt completely empty without their bond. He couldn't feel her anymore, wouldn't get to see her blinding smile when he awakes now. What type of tomorrow should he look forward to without her?
The twins stared at their mothers tombstone. Yet again, they lost another parent.
Adira inhaled sharply, "I'll keep your promise, mama. I will."
"You can finally rest now."
Kol slipped his arms around the twins and held them close, "Even if she is not physically here anymore, I believe she is here. She'd never truly leave us. We'll see her again one day."
"We're family. Together even in death."
"Always and forever."
Wanda smiled as she watched her three loves walk away from her headstone. The witch felt at peace, her mind was finally calm and her family was safe. She succeeded.
An arm slipped around the Maximoff's neck and she sighed as Hayley happily smiled, "Our family will be fine. They're strong. You saved them, Wanda."
Wanda sighed contently as she leaned her forehead against Hayley's.
"Sis?"
Wanda's lips parted in shock as she turned to see a pair of eyes she had missed, the speedster grinned widely as he watched his sister.
"Pietro."

Final Author's Note:
And that my loves is the end for Out of Time. This is sadly the last chapter, I'm not too sure if I'll upload an epilogue but we'll see.
I want to thank everyone who read this story until the very end. I'm so endlessly grateful for everyone who's commented, voted, and simply read my book. I can't thank you guys enough for all the support.
Two Kindred Spirits was my first writing project and I'm so happy so many people enjoyed it. You guys, the readers, made writing this all worth it. I appreciate every one of you.
Also, side note, I'm not too sure if that's actually Wanda's birthday, there's like three different answers on google so I got the year and I saw one that said January but I just put the 11th because I spent over an hour searching. I gave up.
The Italian translation is being done by the wonderful @ischaosmagic
