Chapter 63: Unveiling Truth

Unveiling Truth

I am drinking my coffee, watching the calm sea in front of me, wearing a white loose sweater up until my legs, and all while I’m in the terrace.

I should start doing my own plans as well now that the Deity gave me his sign.

“Good morning,” I heard Beomgyu hyung’s voice and he hugs me from behind. “Why are you up so early? Aren’t you sore?” he check me up, resting his chin on my shoulder.

“Are you… monster?”

He burst in laughter and moves beside me. “Why?”

“Look,” I said and pulled my longsleeves as well as the hem of this sweater. “I know that you love me but I didn’t know that you love me that much.”

He still laughs and licks his lower lip then bit it. I feel him wrap his arms around my waist and pull me closer. He claims my lips and I wrapped my arms around his neck to deepen it.

“I’m sorry,” he apologizes with chuckles.

We both lean our foreheads on each other, brushing our noses. “I love you,” I whispered.

“Thank you for loving me,” he expressed.

We spend the whole day going to places like famous seafood restaurant even if he doesn’t eat seafoods, he still tried for me. We bought some stuffs as well for grandma and my mom. We tried the cable car and it was fun! We enjoyed the whole day and we started driving home at night.

“Are you sure you’re going to stay at our house?” he asks me.

“Yep! I wanna meet grandma already,” I said. Before it’s too late once again.

“She’ll be happy for sure,” he commented.

But we were the one who got surprised when we got a message that grandma was rushed to the hospital because she fainted. We made our way to HYBE MU and I witnessed how Beomgyu hyung run and panics.

“Halmeoni!” Beomgyu hyung shouted inside the ER and the other elderlies who are patients got startled. “Why are you here? What happened?”

“Hey punk! Keep your voice down!” halmeoni shouted back at him and I just laugh at both of them.

I walk closer towards them, “Halmeoni, how’s your feeling?” I asked her.

“Oh, hello there Taehyun. I’m really sorry, did I disturb your trip?” she apologizes at me.

“No,” I shook my head. “We were on our way home earlier,” I replied.

“Grandma, did you just answered him and just ignored me?” hyung whines.

“It’s just because of the heat why I fainted, stop overreacting things,” grandma scolded her grandson.

“But still! Why were you outside? I told you to stay at home. Mom will scold me because of you,” Beomgyu argued.

“Halmeoni, have you eaten? Should I buy you some food?” I suggested.

“Aigoo, no need. The nurse said I’ll be discharged tomorrow,” she replied.

“I still buy you something to eat before travelling back home, halmeoni,” I insisted and I gestured Beomgyu that I’ll leave for a minute and he nods at me.

Emergency room is really one of the busiest areas of the hospital, not to mention where in HYBE MU. “Move out the way!” someone shouted right behind me that I quickly step away.

I meet his glare and my eyes landed on his embroidered labcoat. “I’m sorry,” I quickly apologize.

“This is why I hate relatives,” I heard him utters and walked passed by me.

I scoffs at myself and went to the pantry to buy some foods and come back to halmeoni but hyung isn’t here anymore. “Beomgyu hyung?” I asked halmeoni.

“He went to the nurse station for my discharge papers,” she replied and sighs.

“Halmeoni,” I called her and she look at me. “Why are you hiding it from Beomgyu hyung?”

“Hide what?” she asked in confusion.

“Your real condition…” I answered and I saw how her eyes widen. “When are you going to tell him about it?”

“H-how did you know about it?” she asked in surprise.

“When I went at your place, I saw some package of your medicine in the trash bag,” I answered. “Halmeoni, tell Beomgyu hyung about it…”

“I don’t want to,” she resisted. “I can’t leave that kid yet… I can’t.”

“Why?” I asked politely.

“He…” she inhales. “He sacrificed so much for me, he almost lost his youth because of me and I want him to stay with him until he become the happiest,” she reasoned.

“Isn’t it much painful for Beomgyu hyung… if one day he’ll end up seeing you lifeless without knowing the real reason? Hyung will feel useless again because he’s clueless of what’s happening right in front of him,” I stated and she looks away.

“Five years ago… I dreamt of the Deity,” she started and breathes out to mustered herself. “That I’m going to die… I thought my operation won’t be successful but the Deity told me, I still have hope because my grandson exists,” she continued and I noticed tears escapes from her eyes. “My Beomgyu… I don’t want to leave him alone yet.”

I purse my lips and lowered my sight. I heard her say once more, “If I die… will you be there for him? Be honest with me, Taehyun.”

Honest?

“Truthfully… I can’t promise you that, Halmeoni,” I stated and meet her gaze. “I still have a lot to do with myself as well. I can’t promise you that I’ll stay with hyung but I can make sure he’ll be happy,” I assured.

“My Beomgyu will be alone again if you leave him, Taehyun,” she said with voice in wary and tears. “I know there’s someone he loved aside from Soobin but I can’t really recall who he was… but I know how he loves that guy and after he left him… Beomgyu can’t just really move forward directly. He keeps on coming back from where it started,” she storied.

I hold her hand, “Halmeoni, I know I’m not in any position to decide but please… tell Beomgyu hyung about it already. Please? He needs to be ready at least…”

Beomgyu hyung and I had some strolls at the back of the hospital where there’s mini park to walk the patients and have some fresh air. It’s already night so there are no much people in here.

“You aren’t going home yet?” hyung asked me.

I shook my head, “Not yet… I can stay for few hours,” I answered.

“This is so nostalgic and traumatizing at the same time,” he stated. “The last time this happened, there are supernatural things around me,” he chuckles. “But this time I know my halmeoni will be okay.”

“What if she’s not?”

“Not?”

I look away from him and paused on walking. “What if she’s not going to be okay…? Are you going to wish again?”

“Wish,” he repeated. “If it’s about grandma then it’s not impossible—”

“Don’t,” I cut him off immediately and look directly at his eyes with seriousness. “Stop wishing. Just let things be.”

“W-why are you suddenly getting serious about this?” he awkwardly laughs and clears his throat. “I won’t, okay? It’s not like Deity will appear again for me to do that.”

“Have you realized what could have happened when you didn’t wish to save grandma five years ago?” I asked.

“Everything will still be fine, maybe? No, maybe I would be happy somehow—”

“She could have died,” I cut him once again.

“Hey Kang Taehyun,” he sounds offended. “Watch your mouth, will you?”

“How about Taehyun? If he didn’t appeared in your life… No, do you really know who Taehyun was?” I asked again.

He frowns, “What’s with the tone of your voice? Why are we talking about him again?”

“If he didn’t appear five years ago… You could have been happy, right?”

“You—” he pause and exhales. “Tell me, what’s happening huh? What are you trying to say right now?”

“What was your last wish again?”

“I told you it’s about halmeoni,” he answered in annoyance. “What does it connects right now?”

“That’s not your last wish, hyung,” I disagreed and he frowns. “You wished for Taehyun to become a human, right?”

He’s still frowning for seconds until his knitted forehead straightens and his eyes continue to enlarge while looking at me. “H-how did you know about that?”

I just keep my stares at him, my composed and cold stares directly at his eyes. I witnessed how he gasped, his lips trembled and he covered it with his trembling hands.

“W-who are you?” he asks in crack voice. “Who really are you!?”

“I’m Kang Taehyun… the same angel you loved… five years ago. I’m back Beomgyu hyung, as what I’ve promised.”
