Chapter Two

Chapter Two
The Dinner Party From Hell

"I want to make you happy. I mean it, I'll move down here, and we can start over," Maddox said as he held Cardi's hand to keep her from closing the front door in his face.

"There is no starting over. You can still come and see our children, but that's as far as we go now, Maddox, so let me go," Cardi said as she tried pulling her hand away from Maddox.

Maddox frowned.

"Is that really what you want?" Maddox asked her.

"No, but I don't like the man you were doing these last few months; I want the Maddox who would choke a bitch out for looking at me the wrong way back. I want my husband who loves me," Cardi explained to him.

"I'm still that man, Cardi, and I'm sorry that I did not defend you like I was supposed to. I love you with all of my heart; you know that Cardi," Maddox said.

"Not having my back, that's not love. It's betrayal, and it's the worst kind," Cardi said.

Maddox sighed.

"I know," He said.

"How would you feel if I had done that?" She asked.

Maddox didn't answer her question so Cardi continued talking.

"When you and Zhan were beefing, you made me return that car, and I did it. Even though I did not want to; when you almost got jumped at that club, I was there ten toes down behind you and smashed a bottle on that man's head, arguing with men twice my size behind your ass; Hell, even now, I still have your back as everyone wants to pick sides in our situation, but I'm telling them to stay neutral as you're not a bad guy, and we aren't even together. I'm always going to respect you and be loyal to you, but I feel you will never have the same respect and loyalty for me, that's why I'm divorcing you," Cardi said.

Maddox now understood how much damage the Paris situation did to his relationship with Cardi, and he knew he fucked up, and it was going to take a lot of time for them to be in a good place again.

Maddox let go of Cardi's hand.

"I'm not singing the divorce papers," Maddox said.

"I do not need you to sign them for me to divorce you," Cardi said.

"We're married, and I'm going to fix this," Maddox said.

"Good luck with that," Cardi said as she closed the front door in his face.

Maddox wanted to bang on the door, but he did not want the neighbors calling the police on him, so he left.

Cardi stood by the door, waiting for Maddox to bang on the door, but he did not. Cardi sighed turned off the lights, and went upstairs to bed.

cardiafine One of the most influential men in my life surprised me tonight. My uncle, who I named my son after, came into town, and we had a good time. I turned into such a little girl around him. Good food, good conversation, and more money moves. And our fits are from @nalora🔥

==THE===WIFE==

Tonight, We're celebrating Nettie's new collection with a dinner party, and everyone is wearing the new collection in support of Nettie.

I wanted everything to go right tonight, but my uncle Messiah had other plans as he told me during our lunch today that he wanted to talk to Maddox man to man. I knew how my uncle was, and I hoped nothing would go wrong from their conversation as I did not want my uncle to hate Maddox as he already disliked him.

The dinner party had started great until Maddox switched seats with MJ to sit next to me. I kept a slight smile on my face as I tried to ignore him as he placed a hand on my thigh.

I moved his hand with a bit of force which caused my end of the table to shake. My uncle looked at me.

"Are you okay?" My uncle asked me as he glared at Maddox.

I nodded.

"I'm fine," I answered.

"Switch seats with me," My uncle demanded.

I got up and switched with him. My uncle now sat next to Maddox and turned his body to him.

"Let's have a chat," My uncle told Maddox.

Maddox nodded.

"Yes, sir," said Maddox.

My uncle got up, and so did Maddox, and they walked away from the table.

"What the hell is going on?" Nettie asked me.

"They're talking," I answered.

"Is uncle planning to kill him?" Nettie asked.

I shook my head no.

"No, I hope not," I replied as shouting started throughout the dining hall.

At that, my head flew up.

"What happened?" I asked as I quickly took off my heels and ran out to where the noise was.

I found my uncle and Maddox arguing with a group of people. I walked over to them as soon as Maddox punched the man who was getting in my uncle's face.

"No!" I screamed as my uncle hit another man who was trying to hit Maddox from behind.

By now, everyone was out and yelling, trying to figure out what had happened.

I was pissed off as a woman hit Maddox.

"Get off my husband," The woman's shrill voice yelled.

I grabbed her by the hair and started jerking her head so she would let go of Maddox.

"Bitch, get the fuck off my husband," I said.

The woman was screaming.

"Let him go!" I yelled as I punched her.

Then her friend decided to pull my hair.

"Get your fuckin' paws off her!" She screamed.

It was chaotic at this point that I just blacked out and started throwing punches in all directions, not giving a fuck who I hit.

"Cardi, let go of her," A voice said.

"They called the police," Another voice said.

"Get, Cardi now," Another voice said.

The hotel staff and a few bystanders had managed to stop the fight and separate us. I was sitting on the ground when the police walked in.

Maddox held out his hand. I grabbed it and stood up.

"What the fuck happened?" I asked him.

Maddox explained to me that he was talking to my uncle when the group walked by and started throwing racial slurs at my uncle.

My uncle, in the beginning, had ignored them and told Maddox to dismiss them as well, but then the man whom Maddox had punched threw a drink at my uncle and told him to clean it up with his tongue, then things got out of control from there.

I was pissed at the enlightenment of some people but also proud that Maddox defended my uncle.

The police took our statements and then let us go.

"Good punch, Maddox," My uncle said as he hugged Maddox.

"Thank you, sir," Maddox said.

My uncle looked at me as Maddox walked away and got into his car.

"I hope tonight changes your mind about him," My uncle said.

I sighed.

"Maybe," I said.
