It was a saving grace the moment after when the loud sirens of a good number of New York's 'best' were in pursuit id something. Too many cars to be something minor.
"I have to go." Max said quickly, Jaden was still giving her a look between offense and annoyance at the idea she had stated she wasn't human. Like some how he was stupid enough to believe that.
"Why?" He asked, eye brows furrowing in annoyance behind the frames of his glasses. The sirens weren't significant to him nor was he trained to pick them out specifically out of all the sounds of the loud city.
She glanced at him, pulling off her thin coat, something obviously not meant for the cold winter Jaden noticed. But Max's own body temperature like many mutants and others who were subject to a powerful healing factor had a higher body temperature. Her origin and species as a fire breathing creature also racked up her temperature to around one hundred and forty. About as warm as a hit, almost scalding shower depending on your preference.
She didn't answer as she put the coat on the chair, sending a glance to her friend before glancing at Jaden once more before heading to the door. The teenager stared after for a second before going after her. The thought that her friend would take care of his expensive possessions his table went through his mind and he didn't pause to question it, just accepting it though not sure why.
Of course the human mind was easy to convince if you know how to work with it. The violet eyed shifter easily assured the other with the promise. No one would bat a greedy eye at the left behind computer and phone. If they did they would forget their purpose to why they were here and probably believe they where just told their cousin died whether they had one or not.
Max was already sprinting away, ducking down an alley quickly. Lucky for Jaden he happened to be the top sprinter on his track team and got first place at state last year.
He just wasn't sure what way those legs if his were supposed to carry him when he saw the odd thing that had turned around when he entered the small area between the buildings. The was the freaking biggest gecko he'd ever seen.
Vaughn a black away couldn't conceal his giggling. Despite the had situation it was what had just happened he couldn't get over the idea of facing a giant gecko. Gecko of all things that came to this track star's mind.
Vaughn wasn't even sure geckos had teeth much less five inch daggers for fangs.

"Wade please. This could be it. Can I go ? It's been long enough hasn't it?" Peter asked looking back at Wade from his station at the window. The sounds of the chase had drawn the arachnid near like a fly to a light.
"Are you sure Peter?" Wade questioned. Peter still wasn't as physically fit as he should need to be. He still looked unhealthy and weary most of the time though his skin now glowed with nutrients and health. Peter's body just hadn't filled itself out quite well enough yet. The process was slow going with the high metabolism Peter possessed but it was working by the least.
Peter himself was mildly worried that his suit wouldn't fit early as nice without the normal mass that stretched the fabric but that was besides the point. He could still move like himself, was still as strong. His suit was a minor factor.
"Yes. Wade please?"
Wade had laid down a ground rule that he had to be within Peter's premises to be allowed out when the time came hence his requests for permission. It was a team up, not Spidey being his normal line wolf self at the risk of being Caught by the enemy.
"Are you sure?" The Mercenary asked again, "don't you think it's too early? We've have hardly gotten settled down and I don't want to risk loosing this just yet."
Peter looked at his soulmate in disappointment. He had been cooped in his home, unable to return to spider-man duties for almost two years. Two whole years Spider-Man has had been absent.
"Please? Without my suit then?" Peter asked quietly, begging. He could control himself now, he could pretend to be the hero he always wanted to be again. He could start repaying those he wronged once more.
"That means no webs Peter. No give aways. Make yourself like a mutant. You could be anyone."
Peter's crestfallen expression bloomed into a smile before darting off to find a hoodie and gloves.
"You can't wear a mask Peter."
Peter stopped as he held the plain fabric. It wasn't in anyway special, you could but the mask in any store. It wasn't related to him at all.
"Wade I can't let anyone see."
"Your paranoia will give you away Peter. You're one of the few who continue to uphold a secret identity in accepting of the few in S.H.I.E.L.D. Know-"
"They've probably made that information public by now Wade. " Peter said looking at him.
"Then why the mask?"
Peter looked at the object in his hands. He didn't have an answer for his love's question.
