"They're kinda cute." Peter says as they both watch a playground from a rooftop not far from the park. It's extremely early in their patrol the o my reason for children to be running about outside under the watch of their parents.

"They are" Wade responds knee deep in memories.

Ellie used to love the swings.

(Remember when she used to ask us to push her up high.)

[How she would squeal when we'd get her up high enough to duck and run under her.]

"Again! Again!" Ellie cheered. Kicking her legs in her excitement.

"Again?" Wade asks, smiling widely through his expressive mask. "I don't know Ellie. Aren't you getting tired?" He sta in a teasing manner, looking down happily at his child. This gift given from the God above.

"Yes again!" She yells with a smile just as true s her father's.

"I had been thinking maybe we could go get ice cream but I forgot you don't like ice cream so I guess we can keep swinging-"

She gasped in a way not unlike her father's own dramatics." I like ice cream."

"No you don't"

"Yes I do." She argued.

"You sure?"

"Positive! Please can we go get some? I promise I won't tell anyone."

"Course we can. And later tonight I'll make your favorite Mac and cheese." Wade says taking his daughters hand when she's planted safely on the ground after hopping off the swing.

Peter had stopped is rambling at Wade's odd silence. It isn't a dangerous or bad sign this time. The air round his soulmate just seems.... Sad.

Wade continuous to stare off into space, his head filled with memories of the one person he truly loved above all else. Her cheeky little attitude and mischievous character. She was so smart and talented. So brave.

[She was the first one to love us with no care for what we looked like.]

(Remember when we got in trouble because we were called to the office because she had threatened to stab a kid with safety scissors next time she heard them say her dad looked scary.)

[We had to talk to her bout that. Also took the time to put settings on the tv to make sure we knew what she was watching.]

(She was so perfect. Somehow a part of us yet so beautiful.)

Wade doesn't let the conversation continue on from there. Knowing he'd have to think of what happened to her.

"Wade." Peter says quietly looking at the mercenary with large innocent eyes.

Wade snaps back into reality again, thoughts of his past daughter being cast aside as he  looks at his second most prized gift.

[only remaining gift]

'And yet some how he was almost taken from us.

"Yeah?" He asks after a few second pause. He looks back over at Peter who's half eaten burrito was being held as to not spill its contents into the arachnid's lap.

"You alright?"

[Have we ever been?]

Peter shifts slightly as if he'd actually heard negative comment.

"Yeah. Just thinking." Wade answers, taking a bite of his momentarily forgotten taco.

Peter watches him for a long minute before returning to eating his own food. The arachnid senses somethings off. He isn't sure what or when Wade drifted off.

Wade continued to watch the kids running and yelling at the playground. Their parents sitting at a table near by.

Wade misses that. Being witness to the pure energy of a Child. They have such a wonderful innocent interest they have for the world. How they absorb information like a small sponge.

(and their riddle like questions.)

[What there that isn't?] Yellow quotes one of Ellie's questions.

Wade smiled at the memory of being well stumped for a long time trying to figure out what exactly she was trying to ask.

"A mirage." The mercenary answers the box.

Wade is off on his own, lost in his own mind in a calmer of ways.

"What are you thinking about? Spidey asks Deadpool. His voice quiet and curious.

"Nothing." The mercenary replies. He former want Peter to know about Ellie. It's something he doesn't want to explain. Doesn't want to let Peter think about how awful of a parent he is for letting his child die... He could have saved her. He had been so close... So close.

[But not close enough. There's no going back now.]

Peter just nods, not pushing the subject much further.

Both supers perk when they hear the sound of police Sirens off in the distance.

The crumpling sounds of tinfoil being re-wrapped around half eaten food is the signal of an agreement on their choice to move ahead and take on the reason for the authorities presence. Wrapped food is shoved back into the paper bag before they both stand quickly. The mercenary mounts his Spider-

(In the less fun way but fun all the same.)

-and their off. Headed towards almost promised danger.

Wade glances back once more at the play ground. A deep ache in his heart he can't label with one reason for existing.

He misses Ellie. Misses her so much.

(I want to try again....)

[It's too dangerous. What if they got hurt again.]

(Peter would be there too to help.)

[Or he could be the danger...]

The mercenary is filled with incident shame and guilt, knowing Yellow's thoughts are very well also his own. He wishes he didn't think this way. Wishes he could trust himself to trust Peter around children... But he can't. Not yet. Not after what Peter's become.

He nuzzles the back of the arachnid's neck softly on a silent apology.

Peter doesn't ask.
