Max

This was wrong. This was very wrong. This was a violation of her body. Why wouldn't she feel anything?

The thought of being paralyzed once more sending a shrill of fear through the shifter as she tried to move. She couldn't hear anything, and almost hardly comprehend her surroundings. The dragon lifted herself up, relying on her eyes to tell her what her body was doing. She takes a step forward and instantly the world collapses in on its self and suddenly she's falling no longer in her natural form and farther that of the appearance of a human.

Her wings. Why couldn't she open her wings? She twists in the air trying to figure out what was wrong only to connect with the ground moments later as the world became black. She was so small. Still young to the world.

The small form of a half grown dragon runs quickly ahead of the destructive ground at her heels... this was a long time ago. The hatchling tried to open her wings but was simply crushed by the land debris of the quake the scent of terror the adolescent still hanging in the air as she was shoved into another outcome of her progressing life.

She opened her eyes once more farther into her own future, huddled in a corner in the dark watching slowly as a wall of flames rushed towards the already dying female as the compound erupted.

The pain of her flesh burning makes her snaps her eyes open to see her hand reaching out towards the corpse of a platinum blonde. Someone was ruling her away with a forceful pull on her waist. She could her hear own objections before she turned towards her captor to free herself only to come face to face with the barrel of a gun before he move again she was flung into yet another scene. Her eyes and ears still stung from the sound and flash of the pistol firing in her face and surely making a good sized hole as it exited and blew apart her skull.

As her body fell her surroundings reformed and displayed her sliding down the sheet wall of an apartment, a dark figure standing before the fallen shifter who was unable to move. The coursing fear and panic was something she hadn't yet experience often other then in her adolescence. The movements where terrifying and fast before fangs sunk into her flesh and venom quickly spread through her body.

More images. More and more and she couldn't make them stop. Why won't they stop?

"Nightfall."

"Make it stop!" The shifter screams as she scratches at her own eyes, trying to make the images to go away, to stop living through and repeating every death, every accident in her past. They continued with not patent to their order or her age. "Make it stop."

"Nightfall."

"That's not my name!" Max screams in outrage as he tries to make the images stop. No that's not her name. It couldn't be her name. She was told by to listen to it. She isn't Nightfall.

"Max."

The shifter's eyes instantly snap open, the predatory, dangerous reptilian gaze locking in on the leg in front of her as she swings at it with a strength of inhuman proportions as her mind is reset.

No. Max isn't her name either.... she doesn't have one. Because she isn't supposed to exist. She's a mistake that should have never been made. That's why she wasn't born destined for a soulmate. It's why she was given a stopwatch, one of three in the world that didn't belong to another.

It's why her soulmate still doesn't have a count on their watch.

So, so, sosososososo so sorry this chapter is half the size of most. I last second erased half of it because I didn't feel like I like where it was going and this shorter alternative is all that makes sense to put because I like the way it flows easier. The next chapter can also possibly be shortened or at least mildly confusing as you don't know what happens between now and the next.

Last post of 2016! Happy New Year 🎉
