~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wade ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Peter, hush." The Mercenary quietly scorns the chattery arachnid hanging onto his forearm. Surprisingly now that was how it worked. Wade hushed Peter while he tried to concentrate. He hated it. He really hated this change. He didn't like how he was the one training Peter, teaching him how to act again. Wade could hardest remember himself. Before he had been very reliant on Peter. He had always been the one allowed to talk Peter's ears off because that's what Peter knew made him feel better. Having the ability to communicate. Now he had lost that. He is just continuously pressured mission after mission, responsibility after new responsibility. He wasn't supposed to do this. He needs as much help as Peter, he isn't good enough to be taking care of him.
(Remember when Ellie used to hold our hand like this? That time she accidentally got mixed up in one of our missions?)
[A year before her death was when that happened. The whole reason she ever died was because she was scene during that mission.] Yellow snarls at White.
"Not now," Wade snaps at the two as he pulls Peter along again, trying to find a better vantage point and position to set up the high powered riffle slung across his back. The arachnid had stopped speaking, though his questions after two missions had turned into advise and suggestions he didn't disobey. Not here. Spider could learn. Listening meant the reward to feed.
Wade held up his hand to stop the spider who had let go of his arm and was closely, eerily silently following him from behind. The Merc actually glances back to make sure Peter is there. He flinched slightly at realizing how close Peter his behind him. Lenses narrowed in on the target far below them.
"Can I do it?" Peter asks, his attention returning to Wade, his head cocking to the side in question.
"You don't know how to use a gun." Wade says, the answer a clear no by the tone of his voice.
"I don't need a gun." Peter says, his head tilting the opposite way.
[No. No, the whole purpose of this was to train him to not hunt and really simply on us to bring him what he needs. We can't let the work we've done be wasted just because he feels like moving.]
(But he's so cute. Look at the little way he tilts his head like a puppy.)
"No Peter. We'll do it this way." Wade says pushing Peter carefully down to crouch beside him as he starts to set up his gun. He didn't need the stand but he didn't load it before coming and that would take a few seconds.
The arachnid clearly haven't been expecting to have his request denied as he jerked to attention. "But mate why not?" He asks.
[He sounds dangerous. Don't turn your back on him now.]
That sent a stab through Wade's heart. The idea that he couldn't trust Peter to turn his back to him.
"But he hasn't done anything in a long time Yellow. He's fine." Wade says not letting himself doubt Peter with his safety. He turns his attention back to Peter setting the gun down beside him to slide over and hold Peter's masked face between his gloved hands. "No Peter. We can't let you. Remember what we talked about?" Why did talking to Peter's other half have to be so hard? Why couldn't he just remember, or just be completely Peter? He didn't like the Spider while he wanted to hunt, he didn't entirely trust him. Wade wanted to. But he couldn't.
Peter sighs through his nose. "But why? This is what I am." Peter says in disappointment. There was definitely more Peter in the statement then Wade would like to admit. He didn't want the personalities to completely over lap. He really didn't want Peter to change.
[But what if it's Better that he does? What if it fixed him?]
'It wouldn't fix him.'
(I think he means maybe with Peter fully there while Spider is also there then maybe the consequences of his episodes wouldn't be nearly as bad. Maybe even controllable.) White says cautiously. Hoping not to be snapped at by his fellow personality.
[Exactly]
White perks at the not praise but close enough to be accepted as one.
"Wade." Peter prompts.
"Because I want you to stay how I met you. That innocent little Spider who had no idea how the world really worked because you were too innocent to think of killing someone."
"But I've never been that Wade. I killed far longer before I saved a soul. What you say was an illusion." Peter says sadly. Wade could almost imagine Peter down cast eyes. Dark in the lighting as he looked away.
"Yes you were. You convinced yourself that that's what you were. You became that to try and protect yourself and others. For a long time Peter, you were nothing but innocent. You are still innocent in the way you regret and feel shamed by your self. It's something I love about you Peter." Wade says their noses practically touching.
Peter's hands move to Wade's hips balancing there for a second before one pulls away. The merc didn't notice Peter had reached out a pistol and fired at the target down bellow behind Wade until he registered after a sad two seconds of confusion what had just taken place.
"I love you too," Peter dad pulling his mask up before doing the same for a frozen Wade Wilson before kissing the Mercenary.
[Wait, what the fuck just happened?]
(So hot.) White says melting at the protruding tongue in their mouth
