30. Hello Kitty Nightmare

I stare with wide eyes at the darkly costumed man, terrified. In no possible way am I even remotely able to get a heat signature reading on him. He's completely invisible to me in the suit he's wearing. I mean, thank God I'm not blind or this would be incredibly difficult. Okay, and also I mean if Steve was worried I was gonna freak James out...I can only imagine how he's handling this.

My eyes shift when I see Bucky stand up and notice he's no longer focused on me. Glad at least for that, I hop up to my feet also and swing his back over my shoulders. That's when Barnes lunges for Hello Kitty going through her goth phase. "Bucky, no!" I shout while reaching for him before he engages himself in a fight. "This boy..." He first goes to throw a punch, before faltering, giving angry cat man the chance to twist and kick Barnes' arm out of the way, before flat out kicking him in the gut with one foot. "Guys can we please talk about this civilly??" I shout over the fighting, but neither seems concerned with me. In fact, they continue to fight. They stare at each other briefly, before Bucky throws another punch, this time without falter. Cat man ducks under the swing before throwing his arm back to backhand Barnes. Fortunately, the super soldier blocks it with his forearm. Not to be deterred, the angry kitty lowers the same hand and goes to swipe Bucky's legs with his claws, but Barnes deflects this attack as well. Quickly, the masked man swings his body around, his left hand coming towards Bucky's face, but the soldier ducks under the cat's attack. Once Rogers' best friend ducks under Hello kitty's arm, he stands back up and smacks the cat man's hands away from his face as they're thrown at him forcefully. Barnes then tries to uppercut the darkly suited man, but he leans away. The suited man moves quickly, taking a sudden step back before throwing his leg up, kicking Barnes in the face, which sends him reeling.

"Ok guys, seriously, stop." I state with a glare. I'm trying desperately not to show my abilities because I'd rather not get wrangled into whatever mess will probably occur later. But, given the circumstances, I'll probably get involved anyways. "Oh, come on..." I grumble when I see the odd man jump into the air and knee Steve's WWII friend in the face. I hear a loud grunt as Barnes is thrown across the roof and into the side of an air conditioner unit. The masked man approaches with his claws out, and then swipes, trying to claw Bucky across the face. However, the brunette soldier is quick, as he leans away just in time, causing the AC unit to receive more damage. Cat man spins around and claws at the soldier again, but still misses, inflicting more damage on the AC unit. "Alright, this is enough!" I shout forcefully now as Bucky gets to his feet and puts a little bit of space between him and the lunatic trying to kill him.

I saunter forward, my eyes and hands glowing brightly as I watch the black-suited man hop and kick off the air conditioner before slicing his claws across Barnes' arm, which throws him to the ground. Thankfully though, it's his metal one, which causes me to become less concerned. "Hey!" I shout and throw a wave of angry energy at the two of them, which allows me to get their attention. I point angrily at cat ears. "You better back off." I snarl at him as waves of golden energy roll off of me. I'm sure my eyes are glowing a vibrant yellow. "I don't appreciate you trying to kill the man I'm trying to save, Hello Kitty." I stop walking forward once I'm standing next to where Bucky is on the ground looking up at me with wide eyes. It's probably because of my abilities, no doubt. Slowly, I watch as Barnes gets to his feet, side-eyeing me, but not fully taking his eyes off the black-suited man. Cat man seems unamused with my threats, as he swipes out with his claws, which cause both me and Bucky to quickly step backward as he jumps and rolls over another undamaged AC unit and tackles Bucky to the ground. "WHAT DID I JUST SAY? ARE YOU DEAF?" I holler and rush forward while swiping a piece of metal lying on the roof before hitting the man across the head with it. I watch as his head jerks to the side from force of impact, before he turns and faces me without releasing Barnes. "Oh...uh, hi there." I stutter with wide eyes before the cat suddenly punches me in the gut, causing me to drop the piece of metal before he backhands me with so much force I'm sent sprawling a few yards. I grunt as I land on my side, my head slamming against the roof. My vision becomes blurry as a pounding headache begins. I feel very disorientated but push the feeling aside. I watch as Bucky picks up the metal piece I dropped and uses it to protect his face from being clawed off by the freak show.

"Sam southwest rooftop." I hear Cap's voice in my ear as I try to gather myself.

"Who's the other guy?" Is Sam's question.

"I'm about to find out." Is what Steve says. I plan on replying, but it seems like the knock on the head is doing more to disorientate me than I thought. Nevertheless, I blink quickly a few times before grumbling to myself. I stand up, shake my head, and allow my vision to clear before I move forward again. The cat guy has just sliced through the metal piece Bucky was using as a defense. Across the roof, I can see Steve landing before running forward. I watch as the masked man then forces both hands, claws completely out, down to try and stab Bucky. The soldier grabs both of his wrists and tries to force them away, to no avail. This causes me to run forward just as I see a helicopter come around the side of a neighboring building.

Oh, well look how exciting this is turning out to be.

The man behind a machine gun begins to fire, sending bullets raining down on the roof to where both men are. I'm surprised when the bullets all but deflect off the man's odd suit, but try not to ponder too much on it. The bullets cause the masked man to be briefly distracted, which works out perfectly for me. I increase my pace as I put a shield up around me to avoid getting hit by bullets before I jump into the air. I throw my entire weight into the cat man, which sends him stumbling away from Barnes at the same moment I see Falcon kick the tail of the helicopter, sending it off balance. I turn quickly to Barnes. "Who are you?" He yells over the noise at me.

"Someone who'd rather not get clawed to death, much like you. Now shut your pansy mouth and get up! We're leaving!" I shout and grab Barnes by his shirt before I drag him to his feet. I shoulder his backpack off and sling it into his chest. Once he's on his feet, I continue to pull him forward with me before his pace increases and now he drags me along. We near the edge of the building's roof, and without a second thought, the two of us jump over the ledge. Behind us, I can hear the cat man follow much to my disappointment.

Barnes and I free-fall until we land on an overhang to a building. The two of us look up just in time to see the suited man jump off the ledge, before digging his claws into the side of the building as he slides down it. Bucky and I share a brief look before we jump off the overhang. I use a small amount of resistant energy to slow us down so we don't run the risk of breaking our ankles. Once on the sidewalk, with most civilians pointing and staring at us, we turn away from the cat man and begin to sprint. I don't know when it happened, but Barnes has my hand and is dragging me along with him. "Lengthen your strides!" He shouts at me over the bustle without looking back. I huff and do as I'm told. I'm delightfully surprised to find that I'm better able to keep up now, and Barnes barely has to drag me along.

I'll need to thank him for that tip later.

I can hear the clang of Steve's shield behind us, but I dare not look back for fear of coming face-to-face with the psychotic cat man who's trying to kill us right now. I yank Barnes and swerve to the side as the helicopter with the machine gun comes around and begins to fire at us as we run through the streets. I'm incredibly tempted to cause one of its propellers to 'accidentally explode.' However, Barnes pulls me towards the underground highway, and we jump over the brick wall there to make sure people don't jump into the middle of it.

Aren't we just problematic teenagers?
