-can't be helped-
Everyone rushed to the gate due to the screams; Maggie and Theo's conversation was cut off quickly, not even hesitating to run towards the cry for help.
"What happened!" Theo asked, noticing them carrying for Herschel; she was unconscious, barely even alive
"He was a bit", Daryl began, looking at Theo quickly before looking up at Maggie; he, Glenn and Rick carried him into one of the cells to lay him down.
"Bit!?" Theo asked, panicking, trying to stay out of their way.
"Daddy!" Maggie and Beth fell beside his bed, crying to one another.
"I had to amputate it," Rick explained as Theo noticed that Herschel was missing a leg.
"Holy shit", Theo sighed; the amputation was clean enough for a rush job; it looked as though they had managed to slow a lot of the bleeding.
It was just a waiting game now.
"I need three of you on guard," Rick said, looking at Theo, Daryl, and T-Dog.
Theo looked confused; where are there more walkers?
They walked out beyond the gate that locked off their cell block.
"Why are we on guard?" Theo asked Daryl, but a group of men coming through the door answered her question.
"Who the hell are you?" Theo asked, grabbing her bat, Daryl standing closely beside her.
"We want no issues, " one said, touching their hair.
They all wore prison jumpsuits, light blue. They were stained and dirty. Looks like they hadn't changed in months.
"You better walk back to where you were", Daryl warned, having his crossbow readied, looking straight down the scope and the one who had a step forward compared to the others.
"Evening doll, you wanna lower your weapon?" The apparent leader of the group smirked at Theo.
"No, not really" She held her bat extremely tightly, her knuckles turning white. "In fact, why don't you take another step forwards, and I'll lower it onto your fucking skull", Theo snapped.
Daryl gave her a side eye of worry. Not hearing her speak like that before, he was slightly off guard; nonetheless, he continued to stand close by.
"Enough!" Rick yelled, coming in the door, but Theo never left her sight of the man.
"How long have you been there?" Rick asked the prisoners after finding out that they were perplexed about how the group had gotten into the prison
"10 months" The leader answered, looking confused.
"You have no idea then", Theo said, sitting on one of the benches
"No, so do any of you wanna explain what the hell is going on here?!" Another asked aggressively
"Oo, no need for the tone, my friend." Theo sarcastically smirked as they looked at her, annoyed.
"The world has gone to shit; as far as we know, billions are dead; we could even be the last alive", Rick explained.
"But our families?" Another of the prisoners asked, his voice laced with fear and sadness.
"Gone" Daryl answered sharply.
"How many people do you have?" the leader asked, trying to look behind them into their block of cells.
"None of your concern", Theo answered, her eyes thin, moving to block his view.
"Come on now, princess, no need to be rude" The leader asked.
She smirked to herself, resisting all urges to lunge at the man; instead, she remained silent.
Daryl also responded angrily, readjusting himself to better see his head from where he stood.
"We aren't asking for you to leave, but this is our prison now", Rick warned the prisoners.
"We were her first" " the prisoners argued.
"Yeah, how's that going for you?" Theo cocked her head sarcastically at the man.
He angrily looked at her, narrowing his eyes.
"You can have cell block B, but C is ours", Rick told them. "We will help you clear out B. We want half the food, end of discussion" Rick demanded
"Yeah, or else we will just have to put you down" Theo looked at the men angrily, not wanting them to be under the same roof as her and her family.
The prisoners had no choice but to agree. They weren't going to be able to fight off the three of them, let alone the entire group; they didn't stand a chance.
"We need weapons, and by the way, I'm Tomas; that's Axel, Oscar, Andrew and Big Tiny", Tomas introduced them.
"I don't care" Theo sarcastically smiled at the group, who gave her an annoyed look.
She had no energy left for new people or even the energy to care whether they lived or died.
She had energy for the people she cared about and had been with since day one. To her, no one else mattered.
"How are we meant to help clear a cell?" Andrew, who was standing at the back, asked.
Tomas began walking forward towards the girl, who didn't move.
"Take another step, I dare you," Daryl warned. Theo took a step forward, not breaking eye contact with the man.
Tomas smiled and stopped, finally looking at Daryl
"That your bitch, huh. Damn, you must get dominated in the sack, brother," he smirked, licking his teeth in Theo's direction.
Daryl pushed him backwards, squaring up to him, keeping a death stare locked on his eyes.
"Enough. You wanna help, you can help" Rick stopped the two.
"You can stand back and watch", Daryl answered, walking backwards and away from Tomas beside Theo.
"No, we need help", Rick interrupted, staring at Daryl with frustration.
Rick turned around and walked into the cell block to grab some weapons, leaving the others alone again.
"It's been a long time since we saw a woman," Axel answered. "I don't mean to come across as creepy; I'm just stating some facts. " He smiled, making Daryl take a seat next to Theo.
"Some of us haven't seen a girl in ten years, I think," Oscar nodded.
"Not one as pretty as you anyway", Tomas smirked, making Theo shuffle
"Keep ya filthy fucking eyes away from her, or ya can bet your ass, I'll pull em out of ya head" Daryl protectively stood.
Tomas laughed to himself.
"Here", Rick said, returning with a handful of hand-to-hand weapons.
The prisoners walked over to the table where Rick placed them down.
"Now, you won't know this because you haven't fought these things before, but you have to go for the head, or it will keep coming for you", Rick explained clearly.
"You don't need to tell us how to kill a man," Tomas interrupted.
"You stay here" Daryl turned to Theo.
"What so I can sit around and look pretty? No," Theo argued, picking up her bat.
"Theo..." Daryl began, but she turned to face him
"What? I thought you said I was too pretty for this world, right? So, let me prove you wrong," She reminded him, smirking.
"Hmm. You're something woman." Daryl looked her up and down. Despite being dirty and covered in mud and blood, she looked so beautiful in his eyes. "Just don't leave my side" he told her, making sure she understood his worry.
She nodded before smiling, grabbing her bat tighter.
Daryl smiled back down at her.
Rick, Daryl and Theo headed with the prisoners towards cell block B.
The corridors were incredibly dark, with the occasional light from outside doors with windows, but it didn't help much. They relied on sound and their instinct.
Along the corridors, they ran into their first lot of walkers.
"Stick together," Rick recalled, but as soon as the prisoners saw the walkers, they began charging at them and beating them, hitting their stomachs, pinning them to the floor and kicking them.
The three looked at them, all shocked.
"Theo", Rick began, making the prisoners stop.
She grabbed her knife and plunged it into the first walker's head that was being kicked on the floor.
"Duck", Theo said to Tomas, and without stopping, she swung for the walker being held, taking its head clean off.
He looked at her, annoyed, knowing she wouldn't have stopped either way. She didn't stay near to let him comment. Instead, she walked back to Daryl, doing as he said earlier.
"More up ahead" Theo started noticing others gathering
"Aim for the head!" Rick reminded them urgently. There were a lot more walkers this time.
This time, the group quickly took out the walkers but was stopped by Big Tiny being attacked by a walker.
Tomas took out the walker before checking over his cell friend.
"I'm fine," Big Tiny said, out of breath and sweating.
He was in obvious pain.
"Nah, you ain't", Daryl told him honestly. He had been scratched, deep and badly.
Before anyone could think of how to explain this to the prisoners, Tomas took his weapon and began bashing Big Tiny's head in, killing him and covering his face in blood.
"Problem solved," Tomas said before walking into the laundry room.
The three looked at each other, knowing he had to be taken out; he was not safe or stable.
Theo nodded at her father; he had to be the one.
There was bashing on the door, signalling walkers beyond.
"One door at a time", Rick began as Theo and Tomas walked over to the doors.
"You open that one slowly," Theo explained. By doing this, killing the walkers was much easier.
She leaned against her door, preparing herself.
Tomas nodded but decided to pull both doors anyway, making Theo stumble to the ground. She had hit her head and couldn't get up too fast. While the others fought off the walkers, Theo had become face-to-face with one, pinned on top of her.
"Shit!" Theo struggled as both hands went to its neck.
"Hang on!" Daryl yelled at her as he had two walkers heading his way, and Rick started fighting off more walkers blocking his path to his daughter.
She couldn't reach her knife or her bat.
Daryl panicked; he couldn't get away.
Rick tried to reach her, but there needed to be more walkers and more help.
"Theo!" Daryl panicked as he was blocked, unable to reach for her.
Theo began to push against the walker's neck as the rotting body kept snapping its mouth at her; the only smell entering her nose was the remaining flesh stuck in its rotten teeth. She would have been sick if she wasn't so used to the scent.
Theo used all the strength she could muster up to continue pushing against the walker's throat with her bare hands, causing the skin to start to rip.
She continued to do so before pushing up into its rotten head, making all its blood and skin fall over her due to her ripping the walker from the outside, closing her mouth as everything spilt onto her face.
It was strange how that thing wasn't dead yet. It barely had a head attached to its body, but she could get out from under it, throwing it to the side.
Theo quickly scrambled her feet before stepping on the walker's brain, repetitively crushing its brain into the ground.
"Thanks for your fucking help!" She yelled at the prisoners who stood watch.
The prisoners looked at her in fear.
Her blonde hair was now red, black and covered in rotten flesh.
Theo's skin mainly was blood and gunk, having managed to avoid her mouth and eyes.
"You did that on purpose", Rick began, looking at Tomas.
"You okay?" Daryl whispered as he walked over to Theo. "Ya didn't get any in ya mouth, did ya?" Daryl worried as she shook her head as he checked her for bites and scratches.
"Accident," Tomas argued, but he didn't seem bothered. He looked Theo up and down once again.
"Come on, man", Andrew began as he realised Rick had grabbed his machete from his belt.
But before another word was said, Rick had swung his machete into Tomas's head, killing him in seconds, falling to his knees.
Daryl and Theo responded by making the others get on their knees.
Theo hit the back of Andrew's legs, making him kneel.
"You wanna try something? Go ahead", Theo threatened after grabbing her gun and pointing it to the man's head.
"Please, we didn't do anything", Axel pleaded
"Take them to cell block B", making Andrew follow Rick
Daryl and Theo took them to the cell, where they were allowed to stay while Rick dealt with Andrew.
"That's it, you're just leaving us here?" Axel asked
"Sorry, boys, it's either this or join your buddies", Theo explained, making them go silent.
"But what about this mess? These are friends?" Axel asked
"You want my opinion, take the bodies out and burn them?" Theo said, looking at the floor covered in dead walkers.
"Sorry, man", Daryl said.
