Rosé planned out her life in a meticulous manner. For example, after the internship with Marvel she was going to return to Sydney. She was going to try to milk money out of her art skills and write and draw better mangas and hopefully sell them on a different website. With said money she was going to try to enter a private college. Then she was going to graduate with her degree in either architecture or environmental science or maybe even both.
Her plans obviously didn't go the way she had planned for it to happen.
She never intended for one of the biggest companies in South Korea to contact her, to ask for her permission to turn Falling Dimensions into Korea's hottest dramas, Pursuit of Olympus.
She never intended to move back to her home country.
She never intended to be signed under said big company.
She never intended for the actor playing Theo to fall in love with her.
She never intended for Tom to actually like her back.
Almost a majority of her life was thought out, but it was more of a go with the flow type of behavior. She never intended for any of this to happen, but it did, and now she's left with so many choices to make.
"This is going to hurt Daejung and the rest of his group, right?" Rosé asked, speaking for the first time in hours. Joonho, her manager, had explained the scandal in detail. She's read about these scandals before, the ones that break out whenever a big Korean actor or actress or idol was caught in the act of a date. She knew how vicious the public eye could be, how unforgiving they were to the ones they claimed 'betrayed' them. But Rosé never thought she'd be involved in such a thing.
Rosé went from being one of the most praised Korean girls on the Internet to one of the most hated. They didn't know her, not even her birthday. Yet they acted like they knew her, like she was them. She hasn't gotten the chance to explain herself, not yet. Because right now she has to wait for Daejung's company to tell her what to do.
They gave her an option.
Correction, they're asking for a favor.
Joonho bit his lower lip as he hesitantly took the phone away from her hands. He nodded before he gravely stared at his client who looked like she was in a trance. "Essentially, yes," he replied with a reluctant tone. Joonho glanced at the young girl and sighed, "You know what, fuck the business shit. I'll tell you the two options we have, the only options we have. We can deny the rumors and tell everyone what it is, you two meeting to discuss the role of Taewoo."
"And what's the consequence that will follow that option?"
"Dispatch won't drop the subject of you two," Joonho revealed as he folded his hands together nervously. The stoic expression on Rosé terrified him and the young girl as herself was already intimidating enough. "They'll keep hounding you and turn their focus on you for an even longer period of time. They'll pick at your every flaw to make anything else into a scandal. It's what they'll do. Your privacy will jeopardized even more than it already has."
Rosé looked down at the table, her inability to look up was too much. "And what is my other option that Daejung's company offered?"
"Lie. Confirm that you guys are indeed dating."
"And . . . and what will happen then?"
"Daejung will lose fans, the viewership for the show will drop, but not too drastically, and Dispatch will keep an eye on you guys. But if it doesn't involve Daejung they won't care."
"You want me to pick one of these options? It's either I say no and have my privacy invaded even more or lie and say yes and have people hate me."
". . . I'm sorry Chaewon. I'm at my limits here."
"Just give me some time to think about it."
Does she tell the truth and save whatever relationship she has with Tom? Or does she lie to protect Daejung?
♔ ♔ ♔
Tom glances over at his side to see Rosé bouncing her leg up and down, her nail in her teeth as she nervously chewed on it. They stood at the entrance of the hotel with their hoodies over their head and baseball caps lowered to hide their faces. Harrison and Sora stood in front of them, their fingers interlocked, and their very unconvincing disguises on. The couple would hold hushed, whispered conversations and would occasionally bump shoulders or nudge one another with their hips. But seeing their interaction only sent a hollow feeling in Tom's chest.
They were all awaiting the arrival of none other than Noah Cha. The young CEO had just arrived in Atlanta, but with their hectic schedules they couldn't go to the airport themselves to pick him up. Still, everyone was anxious over the sudden appearance of Noah Cha. The last time Tom had seen his old friend was in Seoul when Rosé's accident occurred.
But Rosé didn't seem excited to see her older brother. In fact, she looked rather terrified and anxious over his arrival. This coming from the same girl who once couldn't handle going on a week long school trip because Noah wasn't going. This is also the same girl who once had Noah go on her first date with her, not that her boyfriend at the time knew.
Tom wanted to ask her what was wrong. In fact, he wanted nothing more than to take her worries aside and distract her. He knew her like the back of his own hand, he knew that when she's anxious she overthinks to a point where she loses herself.
"So, are you still going to live with Sora?" he asks as an attempt to break her from her thoughts. Rosé hummed out in confusion before she turned to her friend. She caught a glimpse of Tom's small smile and couldn't help but force a smile to ease the tension. "In Seoul, I mean."
Rosé sighed as she rocked back and forth on the heels of her feet. She shrugged as she tried to maintain the smile on her face. She knew that if she told Tom everything wrong that was going on with her life he'd talk her into backing out of the movie for a break. But the Korean girl knew that it was only a matter of time before her secrets backfired on her.
"Don't know yet. I still haven't found an affordable apartment in the city," she replies quietly as her eyes were trained in front of her. "Plus it's cheaper to live with Sora and to split the rent. But I also know that with her relationship with Haz getting stronger it's only inevitable that it's going to be awkward. For now I'll keep searching, but it's hard."
Going back to Australia wasn't an option either. A few months after the twins moved back to South Korea so did their father, step mother, and half sister. And Tom was sure that Rosé wouldn't want to move back with her family, especially now with her step mother caring for her newborn baby brother. The last thing Rosé needed with her hectic life schedule and work is to wake up in the middle of the new by crying or having to babysit when she can't.
Tom opened his mouth to reply, but just as he was about to comfort her a black van rolled to the entrance of the hotel. Emerging out of the door was none other than Noah Dowon Cha with his long, fleece trench coat, his cashmere sweater, his ripped jeans, and his dark shades. The eldest Cha took off his sunglasses and slipped them into his pocket before proceeding to get his luggage from the car driver.
The oldest twin looked like a million bucks as he approached them. Even Tom felt speechless with his mouth gaping at the sight of Noah. But then again can you blame him? He's known Noah for almost all his life and this is the same guy who once decided to wear a cashmere sweater, boarding shorts, and slippers in the winter.
Harrison greeted Noah with the typical bro hug, but Tom noticed how tense and awkward it was between the two. It wasn't Harrison's first time meeting Tom and even though they haven't seen each other in awhile, the two never had an awkward encounter or meeting. Sora, on the other hand, was much more awkward as she bowed her head at her CEO. To which, Noah returned the notion.
And as Noah walked past the two and towards the entrance of the hotel, Rosé stepped to the side as she readied herself to greet her brother. But right as she opened her mouth with a smile on her face Noah walked right past her and straight into the hotel.
Something happened in Seoul, and Tom doesn't know what.
♔ ♔ ♔
Her heart raced, her chest tightened, and her vision was blurred with her tears. Rosé staggered through the hallways of the hotel floor as she tried to find Tom's hotel room. Chokes of breath and sobs were held in the back of her throat as she struggled to breathe. Her inhaler was long forgotten in the bottom of her backpack back at her hotel room.
I have to tell him first before he finds out himself, was her only thought. She raced down the hallway ignoring the curious glances or concerned questions from others. All Rosé could focus on was finding Tom before it was too late.
She did something she may regret later on in life. But she would rather live life now not regretting the choices she didn't take. Rosé wasn't ready to have someone she's friends with have their careers be ruined because of her. It wasn't something she could live with, especially knowing that she has the ability to change all of that.
Rosé stopped and stood right in front of his door. Her hands grew clammy, the fitted polo shirt's collar tightening around her neck. Her pulse rumbles her hearing, the silence louder than her thoughts. She hesitated but brought her knuckles to the olive painted door, one knock, and then two. The young writer felt like her heart was going to fall out of her chest.
The door swung open revealing Tom Holland in his full glory. Her best friend was dressed in sweats that were too long for him (resulting in him bunching up the ends), a gray sweatshirt, and his hair messy from running his fingers through it. She swallowed the lump in her throat as she watched the betrayed and pained look in his eyes. He looked like he went through hell.
"You . . . you know," she breathed out. He didn't seem to notice the look of horror that flashed through those coffee eyes of hers that he loves. Tom was blinded by the pain in his chest and the inability to breathe. He felt numb.
"You were planning on telling me," he said it as if he was surprised that Rosé would even tell him at all. Do you know how much it hurt him to find out through the media? To find out from an online article instead of from Rosé herself?
"I didn't mean to hurt you."
"Then do me a favor: Please, please give me space. Looking at you is so hard because I can't stop seeing you as the girl I love."
"I'm still that girl?"
"Of course. So please understand that it's killing me right now to know that what I hoped for isn't going to happen. I love you, Rosie Girl, I do. But I can't watch you love someone else right now. Maybe in a few days I can be happy for you, but right now everything inside of me is dying because you don't feel the same."
"That's not true — "
"Roseanne," he cut her off loudly. She jumped at the sound of her first name and was met with his apologetic eyes right after. "Please. Give me time."
And as he closed the door she couldn't help but feel that he was closing her off as well. Whatever tether connected them has been ripped apart violently. But she doesn't hate him for not listening to her, not when she clearly hasn't been listening for months. Though many can argue that she's waited much longer than he is, isn't it wrong to compare each other's pain?
Because the truth is that they're not ready. They're not ready for a relationship together seeing as how they tread on thin ice around one another. That isn't what a relationship should be.
"Rosé?" Laura. "Come on sweetie, let's go into my room, yeah?"

A/N;
I like this chapter, but I don't like how often I broke up the text. I'm so ehhhh about it. Okay so life update: I just had tryouts for the team I'm trying out for and let's pray it went well. I think I fucked up on more than one occasion. But I'm trying to be positive about it. The positives to if I don't make the team is that I can go home right after school and nap more or I can hang out with friends outside of the program I'm in. Not to mention more writing time!
Nah this is my excuse for being lazy and lame.
But moving on! This chapter is dedicated to jongbaby! Thank you so so much for the constant support and I really appreciate it!
Much Love Guys.
( ps. it's currently like one past half in the morning right now and i'm eating cup ramen. i haven't even started on my homework and i start school in literally seven and a half hours. but oh well. sleep is for the weak my friends. )
