27: A Broken Home

FINN!" Marie's voiced echoed through the neighborhood, catching the attention of every passerby. Finn huffed as he begrudgingly got up from his couch, with everyone in the house following behind.

He slammed the door open and he gasped as he looked at Marie's partially damaged car and the broken mailbox beside it. "What the heck did you do to our mailbox?!" His voice cracking as he walked out of the house in shock.

"Think of it as a little parting gift from my family to yours." Marie hissed as she crossed her arms. Finn could see Marie's brother, Michael, in the driver's seat of her car.

"Really? Did you have to bring your crazy brother along?!" Finn asked as he gestured to the car. "Oh he's around just in case things get a little....heated, if you know what I mean." Marie stated with an evil smirk.

"Well, tell him to get out of the car. If he wants to settle this like men, that is." Lonnie said as he walked in from behind Finn, cracking his knuckles with Leslie, Drake and Charlie in tow. They could  see Micheal scowl as he took off his seatbelt.

"Michael? No!" Marie ordered her brother to stop as shook a finger at him. Micheal huffed as he sat still in the car.

"Why don't you be good little pups and go back on the porch so that I can talk to your brother?" Marie snarled as she looked at Lonnie and the rest of the boys.

"I'll think we'll be fine right here, thank you very much." Charlie said as he looked at her in disgust.

What do you want, Marie?! Finn asked in annoyance.

"Sophia told me about your little "Game Night Party", and it looks like I wasn't invited, so I thought I'd crash it." Marie giggled. Everyone including Finn turned to look at Sophia.

"Seriously?!" Finn shouted at her as he threw up his hands.

"What?! Yeah, I told her. But, I didn't know that she was going to do something like THIS!" Sophia said in defense.

Finn sighed in frustration. "Fine! I'll let it slide this time." He said to Sophia. "And you? How many times do I have to tell you that it's OVER?! Finn yelled.

Marie looks behind Finn and sees Nadia standing on the porch with the rest of the group. "Oh I see...." Marie muttered angrily. "Your little fling made to the "Meet The Family" stage." She rolled her eyes. "That's cute. But, the minute she becomes old news, you'll be crawling back to me. Isn't that ALWAYS how it is when you try to date someone new? She snickered as she looked him up and down.

"You know what, Marie? You're funny." Nadia began as she descended from the porch, walking up to stand beside Finn. "You can't just barge in here and expect everything to go your way. Just get in your car and go home. You're making a fool out of yourself, sweetie." Nadia said condescendingly.

"I don't think I will. Face it, one day, Finn's going to get tired of you and he is gonna come running to me." Marie said sharply. "You're delusional." Nadia stated as she rolled her eyes. "Yeah we'll see about that!" Marie growled as she stomped away towards the car.

"Oh, and Sophia?" Marie called out to her. "You're SO off of the cheer team for this!" She shouted. Sophia gasped.

"You wouldn't dare kick me off! Who's gonna make your cheer routines?!" Sophia said as she walked towards Marie.

"If you want to still have a spot when we get back to campus, I suggest that you leave your rat pack and get in the car." She said as she leaning on the car door. Sophia looked around at the group with hesitation but then she locked eyes with Drake.

"You know what, Marie? I'm glad that you threw me off the team. Sophia said with newfound confidence. "Oh really?! And why is that?" Marie slowly walked up to her, getting in her face.

Because, now I can finally do this!" Sophia immediately punched Marie extremely hard in the face, sending her flying with a yelp. Everyone was in shock as they witnessed Marie spread out of on the front lawn of Finn's house.

"Wow! That felt better than I thought it would! Sophia smiled as she shook off the pain in her hand. "Nice hit, Marie!" Nadia said as she fist bumped her with a giggle.

"Heck yeah! That's my girl! Drake cheered. Marie screamed as she pulled back her hand to see drops of blood coming from her nose. "You're gonna pay for that!" Marie screamed as she got up and stomped towards her car as she held her hand under her bleeding nose. She slammed the door behind her. "DRIVE YOU IDIOT!" Marie shouted her brother as she held back her head and punched her nose.

"Well....now that that's settled, there's only one thing to worry about." Finn sighed as he pointed the mailbox.

"She's lucky that we didn't call the cops." Nadia added as she rolled her eyes. "Thanks for having my back." Finn said with a small smile as he side eyed Nadia. "Oh....yeah, of course." She said as she felt her cheeks heat up, avoiding Finn's eyes.

Drake sprinted towards Sophia excited and enveloped her into a tight hug. "Sophie, that was amazing! I didn't even know that your right hook was that good!" He beamed. "Well, thanks! To be honest, it was nothing. I just swung and hoped for the best!" She giggled. Drake couldn't help but stare at Sophia in awe.

"You're incredible." Drake muttered. Sophia's eye widened as she heard him. She tried to say something but kept fumbling over words like an idiot. Her face heating up from embarrassment. ".....Thanks." She said quietly as looked down at the ground.

Lonnie finally broke the silence as he called out towards the group. "Alright, munchkins!" He shouted grabbing everyone's attention. "It's getting pretty late so, Mom and Dad are calling it a night. Who wants to go to Blossoms?" He asked as he took his keys out of his pockets as dangled them in the air.

"ME!" Everyone said simultaneously as they ran towards the driveway. "Nadia, Sophie, go on ahead with your friends, we'll see you later." Alba said as her and Dean got into their car. "Thanks, Mrs. B!" Sophie said excitedly as she took Nadia's hand, practically dragging her along.

"To Blossom's! Drake said excitedly as everyone cheered.

The house was eerily quiet as Lucy shut the door. All she could do was exhale, finally being able to let down the facade that she had been keeping up all night. She rarely wore a smile behind closed doors. She always wanted to spread happiness to others while avoiding people like her sons, and people on the outside, from seeing what her life was really like. She was alone and helpless, especially in her marriage and tonight just made her feel worse.

Seeing how in love Alba and Dean were made her jealous. She wished to have that with Fred, but she knew that he never loved her and he never will. She began to grimace as she slowly walked into the living room and her husband, as he drank his bottle of beer while watching the television. Everything that he did disgusted her.

"Get your disgusting feet off of my coffee table." She ordered that she swiftly cleaned and gathered the board games. "You can't tell me what to do with something that I pay good money for." He said nonchalantly.

Oh he's asking for it now. "I believe you mean that I pay good money for. Matter of fact, everything in this house is mine." She gritted her teeth. "It's in my name, because you practically milked me and my parents dry, because you wanted to be a big football star! Well, look where that pipe dream got you!" She continued.

"Listen here." Fred growled as he stood up. "I don't know what's gotten into you, but I suggest that you watch your tone when you speak to me." He said in a low, evil tone as he closed the distance between him and Lucy. "Or what?" Lucy snarled, as she looked straight in his eyes, not moving an inch.

"You're going to embarrass me like you always say? You wanna tell everyone the truth about marriage? Because last time I checked, I'm not the narcissistic scumbag who consistently cheated on me with the same woman over and over again!" She growled. "I'm not the one who got her pregnant THREE TIMES in a row. You decided that Finn and twins weren't good enough, not me!" She screamed as tears brimmed her eyes.

"Well what about how I feel Lucy?! Huh? I was this close to living out my dream, and before I knew it, my family was flat broke, my knee was shattered, AND I HAD TO DROP OUT OF SCHOOL! I HAD NOTHING!" He screamed lividly.

"And so you decided to marry a rich little college girl from California, and give her three kids you NEVER LOVED?!" She shouted. "I GAVE YOU EVERYTHING THAT YOU WANTED!" He said. "No, no you didn't." She muttered as her bottom lip started to quiver.

"It's always about you. It's never about your sons and how they feel! Because I had to look in their faces everyday for almost 10 years and prove to them that their father was someone that they could look up to!" She said. "You don't know how many times that I had to lie for you, cover for you, because everytime during Christmas they'd ask where you were and I'd have to tell them that you're providing us, but I knew exactly what you were doing." She growled as she sent him a deadly stare.

"Visiting your "real family", and laying the same bed with that COW for four weeks straight, is ALWAYS a great business trip for someone as hardworking as yourself, isn't it?" She scowled and the words spilled from her, practically dripping with degradation.

"SHUT UP!" Fred yelled as he threw his beer bottle at her, barely missing her as she quickly jumped out of the way. "You're mad because I'm right?!" Lucy shouted.

Fred ignored her as he stomped towards the front door with Lucy following behind him. He quickly put on his shoes and grabbed his jacket. "I'm not going to sit here, and let you chastise me!" He said angrily.

"Oh, look at you using your signature move again! Can't handle the pressure, huh?! Well, poor you!" She said as she stood in the door. "Go tell your friends at the bar that I said hi!" She called after him as she angrily slammed the door closed.

The house was finally quiet once again, as she slowly backed away from the door.

She could barely contain herself, practically shaking from anger and sadness. She jumped as her back slowly hit the wall behind her. As she turned around, her emotions began to consume her. Standing before her, was a picture of her, Fred and her beloved sons.

She felt happiness, remembering that day how young her sons were and how in love she was with Fred. But, she also felt sad and empty, remembering how blind she was to the chaos that would soon unfold years later. She could feel a lump form in her throat as her eyes stung from the tears forming in her eyes.

Then, all she felt was pure, burning rage as she screamed as loud as she could and slammed the picture onto the floor, causing the glass to shatter into a million pieces. She began to cry extremely hard as her back hit the front door, her broken figure sliding down onto the floor.

At this point, there weren't any options left for Lucy. She needed to do something. She needed to change her life not only for her but for her sons.

He backed her into a corner, and the only decision she has left is to find a way to leave him behind. It's not like he would care anyway. He has another family, one that he obviously loves and cares for.

He used Lucy and her family as a meal ticket to success, to fame. But, when that didn't work out, he didn't have anything else for her or the rest of their family. So, now, this 10 almost 11 year affair was only becoming a bigger situation. The older the boys get, the more curious they become, and she won't be able to hold onto this secret for long.

But, she knew that this was his next meal ticket. Not for success, but for a clean slate, and he could care less if the boys found out. After all, he didn't care about they thought anyway.
