1: The Andel Falls Freshman

It's August of 1968 in Andel Falls, Nevada, and the famous Andel Falls University has began their academic school year. The campus is crowded with students as they say goodbyes to their beloved families, and start their journeys as young, independent adults.

Many of them line up to get registered for the classes of their choosing, while many others are struggling to make their way to their dorms, dragging and heaving their luggage behind them.

The new freshmen race for the school's entrance doors, excited for the memories they will make, and the people they will encounter, and Nadia Brexwerry just happens to be one of them.

Nadia jumps out of the back seat of her parent's sedan, running for the trunk as it opens to get her belongings. "Whoa there, track star!" Her father shouts from the front seat. "Somebody's excited." Her mother says with a smile, as she steps out of the car to help her daughter.

"I mean, how could I not be?!" Nadia exclaimed with a noticeable twinkle in her eyes. "I can't believe I'm actually here, about to get full American college experience!" She exclaimed. "I think Dean and I will be both agree when we say, we're all just happy we're able to get the "American" experience." Her mother said with a smirk. "So, apparently Alba, here, hates Greece." Dean says with an exaggerated eye roll. "Now, you know how much I adore Greece. It's our home and our lovely Nadia was born there, so of course, it holds a special place in all of our hearts." They all laugh as they get Nadia's last piece of luggage out of the car.

"Welp, that's the last of it." Dean sighs. "Okay, now here comes the hardest part. Nadia says with tears in her eyes. "Oh, sweetheart". Alba says with a shaky voice as she wraps Nadia into a tight hug. "I love you guys so much." Nadia says as her mother lets go of her. Tears finally stream down her face as she reaches her father. "Aw, come here, kiddo." He says as he hugs her tight and kisses the top of her head. "You totally got this in the bag!" He says as he lets go of her, and grabs her by the shoulders. "That mind of ours is something else." He continued. "Thanks, dad." She replies in a shaky voice.

Alba and Dean start to make their way towards the front of the car with Nadia at their side. "Now we need you to promise that you'll write us at least once a month. You know your mom would go insane if she didn't hear from you until winter break." Dean chuckled as he leans on the front of van. "Trust me, I'll definitely write you guys." Nadia said with a smile as she walks towards the entrance with her bags. "Are you sure don't need help with those bags, kiddo? I could walk you up to your dorm if you want." Dean asked. "As much as I'd love that, I'd have to tell you the truth and say I'm fine." Nadia said as she turned to face her parents.

"Okay, honey. We love you!" Alba exclaimed. "Love you too!" Nadia said as she jogged towards the entrance. "And don't forget to write, or your mom and I will both lose our minds!" Dean shouted as he waved enthusiastically. "Okay, okay."  Nadia giggled. "See you in December!" She said as pushes the door open and walks inside.

"You think she'll be okay without us, hun?" Alba says blinking back tears. "I think our little girl will be just fine." Dean says as he wraps an arm around her and Alba grabs his hand and kisses it. "Okay." Alba sighs wiping tears from cheeks. "Let's get on the road."

Nadia walks down the hallways of the university with her schedule in hand, struggling to the college dorms and the RA. "I totally regret not asking dad for help." She whispered to herself in defeat. She spent the last 30 minutes of her "college experience" asking students where the dorms where and unfortunately, most of them were jerks and didn't answer her. So, now here she is defeated as she sits against a wall in one of the many, many hallways of Andel Falls University.

She runs her hands through her wavy, jet black hair in frustration, and sets her face into her hands with a sigh.

She hears the footsteps of students pass her as time passes. Then suddenly, she feels someone tap her leg. "Yes?" She says in a low, tired voice. The person laughs. "You seem lost." They say.

From the sound of their voice, she immediately knows that the person is male. She raises her head from her hands and sighs. "Is that obvious?" She said as she rolled her eyes. "Well, you're sat in the middle of the hallway, your bags are scattered everywhere around you, and it looks like you've just given up." He chuckled. "So I'm gonna go ahead and assumethat you're not just a freshman but, a very lost freshman." He continues. " Sadly, you're more correct than you think." Nadia giggles.

The boy helps her up. When she stands up, she sees that he's wearing a blue letterman jacket. "So, if you're not gonna tell me your name, do I have permission to call you football guy?" She says with a smirk. "That's the only nickname you got?" He chuckled. "You want a better one?" Nadia said folding her arms as she continues to smirk. "I'm Finn." He says as he holds out his hand.

Nadia takes his outstretched hand and shakes it. "Nadia". She says with a smile. "So you wouldn't know where to find the RA, would you?" She says as she puts her hands in the pockets of her jeans. "Well, Nadia, you're in luck." He says as he grabs some of her bags. "You've got an experienced sophomore by your side." He smirked. "You are a lifesaver." She sighs in relief. "Well, I'm glad I made good impression on you." He said with a wink.

"Now, let's get moving."
