Melanie Grace Wheeler was the glue that kept the Wheeler family together.

The girl was the eldest of four children, Karen becoming pregnant with Melanie which is that forced her and Ted to get married. Karen always resented the fact that Melanie got her stuck in a life she never wanted and it progressed when she gave birth to her second daughter, Nancy.

Karen Wheeler was not the best mother, the two girls taking care of each other up until the next the next sibling was born- Michael. Melanie and Nancy were thrilled to have another sibling, that was until they realized they would have to take care of him.

Of course, Melanie had not minded taking care of her siblings, being that she would do anything for them. However, when Karen Wheeler once again became pregnant and gave birth to the youngest and last sibling, Holly, Melanie was frustrated.

At this time Melanie had been starting high school and was bombarded with school work, the overwhelming amount of stress straining the girl and putting her over the edge. Another stressor that Melanie would never admit to her family was one of her sexuality- it was the year Melanie found out she did not like boys.

And one girl was the reason.

Robin Buckley in every way turned the girl's life upside down, the two instantly hitting it off in their homeroom class freshman year. The two quickly became friends, another girl joining them their sophomore year of school, Calista Noelle, forming a trio.

Calista Noelle was different from the other student's of Hawkins High, one being that she was deaf, but the other being a secret that she harbored the ability to create light.

Melanie only found this out in 1983, the year Will Byers went missing and a little girl escaped what they thought was a department of energy. The town of Hawkins was filled with a whirlwind of drama, Melanie Wheeler being pulled in the middle of everything like her siblings.

Of course she had few questions, but it didn't matter. Cali was still her best friend and Melanie considered the blonde woman her adoptive sister. 

And little did they know, they were going to be thrown back into the devastating secrets of Hawkins, Indiana once more.
