Isabel sat on the outside of the booth, her elbow resting on the table with a cigarette lazily dangling from her perfectly manicured fingers. Her legs crossed with her foot swaying to the swanky music, her back comfortably leaned into the booth with her head turned as she took in the live music.
To anyone else she looked utterly enthralled with the music but in reality she was thinking about Klaus and the girl with him or Wendy as Isabel had learned was her name. Wendy was very sweet and Isabel could tell she was head over heels for the original, her big innocent brown eyes adoringly taking in Klaus's features every time he spoke.
Wendy had been excited to meet the Sterling girl, saying that she had been at her birthday bash declaring it the best party of the year to which Isabel smiled warmly and thanked her for coming. Isabel knew that Wendy knew nothing of Klaus's vampirism or his cruel intent in bringing her to Gloria's on this evening. So Isabel would not punish Wendy for Niklaus's sadistic ways while his deep blue eyes bore into Isabel hungrily awaiting a reaction.
Isabel decided that she should be done with the original, at least in any romantic regard. They were both too volatile and competitive, maybe Isabel had mistaken the enjoyment of a sparring partner as real feelings? But Isabel couldn't ignore the fact that every time she looked at the original she felt her heart swell and a need to be near him.
"Isabel," Isabel heard Jason say in a way that suggested he had been trying to get her attention for a moment.
"Sorry, yes?" she replied, her eyes distant but her expression warm and happy as her focus returned to the table
"I was just wondering if you would perhaps like to dance?" Elijah asked, glancing between her and the band she had been so intently staring as moments before.
"I would very much enjoy that," Isabel smiled, scooting out of the booth and smoothing out her dress.
"Love, would you care the dance?" Klaus said in the direction to Wendy though his eyes never left Isabel who waited for Jason to let Elijah out of the booth.
"Oh, yes. Indeed," Wendy said eagerly who was blissfully unaware of the uncomfortable air between Klaus and Isabel. Wendy followed Elijah out of the booth who lent her a hand once she got to the edge of the seat with Klaus behind her.
"Rebekah?" Jason asked, offering his arm to the female original who nodded.
"Thank you," Rebekah politely said, smiling at the Sterling sibling before taking his arm.
"Now it's a party," Isabel grinned, taking Elijah's arm.
_________
Klaus barely glanced at Wendy as they waited for the music start and he could faintly hear Wendy's voice never shutting up. His eyes were practically glued to Isabel as her and Elijah positioned themselves as the music began. Isabel and Elijah were saying things quietly to one another and Klaus strained to hear but couldn't due to their low tones.
His face became hot with jealousy when his brother laughed, his hands hovering on Isabel's waist with his lips next to her ears as she grinned at whatever he said before playfully hitting his chest. Before the music picked up to which Isabel bit her bottom lip, sauntering towards Elijah as she moved her hips with her eyes narrowed as if they shared a secret.
Their dance was too intimate for Klaus's taste as he danced with Wendy, inching closer and closer towards Isabel and Elijah until he could barely hear their conversation.
"This isn't very brotherly of you," Isabel said in a quiet, mocking tone to Elijah who laughed.
"I'm afraid I'm not feeling very brotherly tonight due to the fact that my brother is acting like an ass," Elijah replied.
Klaus immediately stopped dancing, he could barely see straight he felt so angry as he stormed off the dance floor leaving a confused Wendy behind who had been mid sentence. People quickly rushed out of his way as he burst out the front door of the speakeasy.
__________
Isabel watched over Elijah's shoulder as Klaus left, visibly upset with Wendy following after him a few moments later. Rebekah glanced at Isabel, raising an eyebrow at her to which Isabel shrugged as the song ended.
"Excuse me, I'm going to sneak off to the powder room," Isabel said to Elijah who nodded, heading towards the bar.
Isabel walked off the dance floor and just as she reached the powder room she looked back to see other members of her party were preoccupied so she made a sharp left towards the front door, ducking out of the speakeasy.
Her arms immediately developed goose bumps at the coldness of the air, a light spattering of raindrops hitting the pavement making the parking lot smell like rain to which she deeply inhaled. Isabel crossed her arms and she narrowed her eyes, scanning the dark parking lot to see if Klaus was out there. She saw the dark outline of a figure in the alleyway between the speakeasy and the building next to it. Her heel made a clicking sound as she walked towards the figure, her eyes still narrowed in the dark.
"Klaus?" Isabel questioned, her eyebrows furrowed as she heard an odd animalistic growl coming for the alley way. Due to the dim lights from the alleyway she recognized Klaus's honey colored hair so she gently placed her hand on his back.
"Klaus-," Isabel began but was cut off by him spinning around, his glowing red with veins dancing underneath them, blood dripping out of his mouth with Wendy hanging limply in his arms with her neck covered with blood.
Isabel let out a cry, quickly retreating her hand and placing it over her mouth with her back hitting the brick wall behind her. Klaus stared at her a moment before his lips twitched up into a cruel smile, dropping Wendy which made a sickening thump echo throughout the dark alleyway.
"Did you kill her?" Isabel asked, her green eyes wide in shock glancing between Wendy and Klaus.
"So what if I did?" Klaus cruelly asked, slowly stepping towards Isabel whose wide eyes bore into his until he was nose to nose with her.
"So what? She's a living, breathing, human being. Does that mean nothing to you?" Isabel growled, her eyes narrowed.
"I don't care, I am an original vampire. I don't care about some lowly human or some witch," Klaus growled at Isabel, his hands tightly holding the sides of her arm until Isabel let out a cry and her eyes welled up.
At the sound of her pain Klaus's eyes immediately returned to their usual deep blue, the veins underneath disappearing and his fangs retracting as he looked at Isabel in concern who looked at him with anger as he quickly retreated his hands, stumbling back from her.
"I...Isabel, I'm so sorry..," Klaus whispered, feeling sick to his stomach with guilt. Isabel glared at him before dropping to her knees to check Wendy's pulse, thankful to still feel one.
"Feed her your blood," Isabel commanded to which Klaus dropped to his knees as well, biting into his wrist and feeding the human his blood. Isabel felt relieved to feel Wendy's pulse strengthen underneath her fingers that rested on her wrist.
Wendy stayed unconscious as Isabel leaned back against the brick wall, Klaus mimicked her actions on the opposite side of Wendy. Klaus longingly looked at Isabel, his sea blue eyes reminding Isabel of a puppy whose green eyes bore into his.
"I hate you," Isabel said bluntly, her tone casual as if asking Klaus the time of day.
"I don't blame you," he quietly responded.
