Ronan managed to catch up with Maia  just as she was about to walk into her dorm. "Hey, Maia! Wait up."

Maia hesitated but obliged. "What, Ronan? I'm tired and the coronation is tomorrow." She reminded him.

"I wanted to see if you were okay, after this afternoon," Ronan told her. "Chad was being a dick."

"I know. He always a dick," Maia snapped but felt slightly guilty. "Sorry I'm being weird, I've just had a rough weekend."

"Because of the conversation you had with your mom on Friday?" He asked hesitantly. "Ally told me."

"Yeah, I think it fucked me up a little," Maia admitted. "But I can handle it, it's nothing she hasn't said before."

Ronan hesitated. "Does she love you?" He questioned softly.

Maia laughed. "Your mom asked me the same thing."

"And what did you say?"

"That I didn't know. But I think she does love me in her own way," Maia thought. "Or maybe I'm just being delusional, hoping that someone in my life actually loves me."

"I do." Ronan admitted.

"You like me, you don't love me," Maia smiled sadly. " They're two very different things."

With their parents closeness to The King and Queen, Hallie, Tiffany, Avery, Ally, Lilah and Ronan all got to sit quite close to the front and they had invited Maia along with them. Maia smiled as her sister stood near her in the dress designed by Evie.

Maia knew now that she didn't want to go through with this plan, but everything was so thought out that she didn't know how to stop it and now it was too late. All she could do now was wait and see what happens.

Ben soon reached the podium where Fairy Godmother took the crown off Beast's head and placed it gently on Ben's head. Maia's heart had begun beating faster.

Beast lifted the glass case off of Fairy Godmother's wand and Fairy Godmother took it in her hands. "Do you solemnly swear to govern the peoples of Auradon, with justice and mercy as long as you shall reign?" She asked.

"I do solemnly swear." Ben replied. Maia looked around to see everyone's happy faces and she wondered if Mal had given up on the plan or not.

"Then it is my honour," Fairy Godmother placed her wand on each of Ben's shoulders. "And my joys, to bless our new king."

Gasps erupted when Jane quickly snatched Fairy Godmother's wand. She couldn't get control of it so a spell sprung from it and Maia immediately assumed that it would have slightly broken the barrier on the Island.

"Child what are you doing?" Fairy Godmother all but screeched.

"If you won't make me beautiful I'll do it myself!" Jane told her, still trying to control the wand. Ben ran over to Mal. "Bibbidi...bobbidi...-"

Mal snatched the wand off her quickly before Jane could finish the spell. "Mal be careful!" Maia shouted. Once she had snatched it out of Jane's hand, Maia ran over as did Evie, Jay and Carlos.

"Mal, give me the wand." Ben told her.

"Stand back." Mal warned him, still holding the wand up high.

"it's okay-"

"Ben I said stand back!"

Audrey took a step forward from the crowd. "I told you so!" She shouted but Mal turned to her with the wand and people pulled her back screaming. 

However, Maia's friends  parents seemed to find the situation highly amusing while their children looked worried.

"Let's go." Carlos said.

"Revenge time." Jay reminded her.

Ben looked Mal in the eye. "You really wanna do this?" He asked.

"We have no choice Ben!" Mal snapped. "Our parents-"

Ben interrupted her. "Your parents made their choice," He told her. "Now you make yours."

Mal went silent for a minute and looked back at Maia and the two knew they were thinking the same. "I think I wanna be good." Mal admitted.

"Your are good!" Ben told her.

"How do you know that?" Mal questioned.

"Because..." Ben thought. "Because I'm listening to my heart."

Mal went silent for a moment.

"I wanna listen to my heart to, and my heart is telling me that we are not our parents," Mal laughed tearfully and turned to face the others. She looked at Jay, "Stealing things doesn't make you happy. Tourney and victory pizza with the team makes you happy," She turned to Carlos, "And scratching Dude's belly makes you happy, who would've thought?" She turned to Evie, "Evie, you do not have to play dumb to get a guy. You are so smart," She looked at Maia, "And Maia, You do not have to play big sister all the time, I have never seen you look so happy than I have in the past few weeks."

All of them had tears falling down their face, everyone was on the same page. "And taking over the world with evil doesn't make you happy either, Mal." Maia told her and they laughed.

Mal nodded. "I want to go to school...and be with Ben," She turned to face him and Maia couldn't contain her smile. A big sister always knows. "Because Ben makes me really happy." She turned back to face the others. "Us being friends makes me really happy."

"Well..." Maia trailed off as a joke and Jay nudged her as Evie grabbed her hand. Over the past few weeks she had grown to like them three as much as Mal.

"Not destroying things," Mal sighed and put a fist in the middle of them all. "I choose good, you guys."

Jay put his in next. "I choose good too." He smiled.

Evie chuckled. "I choose good."

Mal looked at Maia. "I actually have to put my hand...in?" She asked. Mal rolled her eyes, laughed and nodded. "Fine. I choose good."

They looked at Carlos. "So, just to be clear, we don't have to be worried about how really mad our parents are going to be?" He asked and they laughed. 

"He has a point they're going to be really mad." Maia agreed.

Ben stepped forward. "Your parents can't reach you here." He assured them.

Carlos smiled. "Okay then, good." He leaned into Maia who placed a kiss on his head and laughed. 

Mal turned to Ben who walked over and placed his fist in the middle. Before they could have their moment of peace, a loud bang came from the ceiling and a cloud of green smoke came billowing in.

"Oh no." Maia sighed.

Maleficent appeared and screams erupted. "I'm back!" Maleficent cackled.

"Go away, mother." Mal told her.

Maleficent laughed at her. "She's funny. I'm sorry, you're very funny here. Wand me, chop chop."

"No!" Ben shouted. Mal threw the wand to Fairy Godmother who caught it quickly.

"Bibbidi-bobbidi-" She didn't get to finish that sentence.

"Boo." Maleficent finished and suddenly everyone else in the room was frozen. She walked up to the beast. "Oh, in another time, another time." She walked up and took the wand from fairy Godmother. "Oh no, someone needs to pluck their nose hairs," She mocked. Maleficent turned to the children. "Where shall we begin? I know. Why don't we start by getting rid of this!"

Ben's ring came off Mal's finger in a blink and it landed on the wand. "No!" Mal shouted.

"Perfect fit!" Maleficent cackled again. Maleficent continued to make fun of everybody. "Falling in love is weak and ridiculous. It's not what you want."

"You don't know what I want!" Mal spoke back. "Mom have you ever once asked me what I want? I'm not you."

Maleficent rolled her eyes. "Obviously. I've had years and years and years and years of practicing being evil. You'll get there."

Mal stayed stubborn. "No, I will not. And I really wish that you had never gotten there yourself. Love is not weak, or ridiculous. It's actually really amazing."

"I know one thing young lady. You have no room for love in your life!" Maleficent told her.

Mal sighed. "And now I command wand to my hand!" She yelled and Fairy Godmother's wand was forcefully taken from Maleficent and handed to Mal.

The other four laughed. "Oh my god!" Maia exclaimed. "It worked."

"I hardly think so," Maleficent walked up to the podium. "Frankly this is tedious and very immature! Give me the wand, Give me the wand!"

"Hold on Mal," Calos said. "Maybe good really is more powerful than evil."

Maleficent laughed. "Please. You're killing me!"

Maleficent quickly turned into a dragon and tried to cause havoc in the room but Evie used the magic mirror to shine a bright light at her which brought her down to their level.

"Leave my friends alone!" Mal shouted. "This is between you and me, mother."

Maleficent's eyes turned green as did Mal's. "The strength of evil, is good as none, when stands before five hearts as one," Mal began reciting. "The strength of evil is good as none when stands before five hearts as one!"

There was a staring contest between Mal and Maleficent before the latter suddenly burst into a cloud of green smoke and disappeared. Fairy Godmother awoke from the spell first and they ran back over to her.

"What the hell just happened?" Maia asked in disbelief.

"I have no idea." Mal told her.

"Did you do it?" Evie asked.

"I don't know!" Mal shrugged.

"No, no, no, no," Fairy Godmother said, coming to meet them where Maleficent was a lizard on the floor. "Your mother did. She shrank to the size of the love in her heart. That's why it's so itty-bitty."

"Is she gonna be like that forever?" Maia asked while Mal bent down.

"Well, forever is a long time," Fairy Godmother replied. "You learned to love, so can she."

Mal laughed before handing over the wand. "I believe this belongs to you."

Fairy Godmother smiled and gave Ben's ring back to Mal. "And I believe this belongs to you." They stood up. "You all have earned yourselves an 'A' in goodness class. Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo!"

The entire crowd was awoken from the frozen state and for some reason, Ben roared and ran towards them, assuming that Maleficent was still there.

"Okay! We kind of got this all wrapped up here." Mal told him.

"Yeah, cool it lover boy." Maia laughed and patted Ben's shoulder.

Suddenly Maia felt four pairs of arms wrap round her; Tiffany, Lilah, Hallie and Ally.

 "Oh my god, I'm so glad you're okay!" Tiffany laughed.

"Yeah, we're fine." Maia assured them as the boys came walking over.

"So taking over Auradon, was that the plan all along?" Ronan teased.

Maia rolled her eyes and sighed. "Yeah. If there's ever a possibility that I could see my mom again, just kill me before it happens." She told them, leaning her head on Hallie's shoulder.

Hallie laughed. "Don't worry, we will."

"Are you going to be okay?" Avery asked sincerely.

"Oh I am going to be perfect," Maia told him. Carlos walked over and they shared a smile. "After all, no more mothers days."

Only Carlos got the joke.

All the parents had left and it was late at night and time for the next generation to have their party. Fireworks were sent up and music was blasting through the air with a song named 'Set it Off' playing that seemed the perfect vibe for their party.

"Hey," Ronan said as he walked up next to her. "I never got to say what I really wanted to yesterday." She motioned for him to go on. "I agree with what Ally said. I swear to god, you are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen-"

Maia grabbed him by the back of his neck and pulled his lips to hers, except she pulled away immediately when he froze.

"I am so sorry," She apologised. "Your mom just told me that if I like someone I should just kiss them-"

Ronan grabbed her waist and pulled her back in until their lips met. For both of them, it was like taking a breath of oxygen neither of them knew they needed, the kiss turned from soft to passionate in a second. 

For Maia, Ronan seemed to be the light at the end of her tunnel of darkness and Ronan, Maia filled in the missing piece he had been searching for.

And for now, that was enough.
