~Tia's P.O.V~

The garage opened, but I had to reverse my car because what looked to be JoJo's car was parked inside. That alone is weird because he never parks in the garage. JoJo's usual parks in the front, but whatever. I'm not going to make a fuss over it. Instead of parking in the garage, I parked in front of Donald's home. Getting out of my car, I closed the driver's door and locked my doors. After locking my door, I made my way to the entrance of Donald's home, singing, I noticed his dogs weren't roaming like usual. My energy is still at an all-time high, even after working out and I feel amazing right now. As I unlocked the front door, I continued to sing and hum George Benson's Nothing's Gonna Change My Love for You. I heard Donald's voice nearby, so I followed it.

"If the road ahead is not so easy, our love will lead the way for us like a guiding star. I'll be there if you should need me. You don't have to change a thing. I love you just the way you a-" my head tilted at the sight of Donald kissing the cheek of an infant child.

"Yeah, she looks a lot like my baby brother. I said that last time," Donald chuckled and my eyebrow rose.

Donald spotted me at the entrance of the room, then nervously shifted his eyes away from me and to the woman. He whispered something to her, then handed the infant to the woman—a woman I'd never seen in my entire life. Now, I'm not the one to jump to conclusions, but something about this doesn't seem right. Donald hurriedly stood up.

"Hey, babe," he finally greeted me, whipping his clammy hands onto his pants.

"Hello," my tone came out as if this was Donald and I'd first time meeting. "I didn't know you'd have company. I probably wouldn't have entered singing," I chuckled, feeling my heart sink. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before opening them again. "So... Are you going to introduce us to one another?"

"Oh..." He nervously scratched between his braids and turned his neck to the woman. "Melissa, this is Tia. Tia-" he gestured to the woman, "Melissa."

"Nice to meet you," Melissa smiled.

I forced a smile, "you too." Then my eyes Mets Donald's shifty ones. "Cut the bullshit, DeVanté. What is this?" I folded my arms, putting all of my weight into my right leg.

"Tia, I-" he folded his lips into his mouth as his head fell down in total shame. Then he looked at me. "I didn't want you to find out like this, but- but shit happens. This is my daughter, Aria. Melissa is her mother."

I nodded at him, "how old is the baby?"

I don't even know why I'm asking because that's clearly a newborn baby by its size. Especially considering the freshly un-pregnant belly she has. That's a fresh out of the womb baby and Donald and I've been together for eleven months. It takes a baby two to three weeks after conception for a woman to officially become pregnant. A baby typically takes nine months to carry.

"Aria... Well, she- she's a preemie," Melissa smiled at Tia.

"How much earlier did you have her?" I asked the woman, squinting.

"Aria will be three weeks old in two more days. She was just born a week early," DeVanté replied. "Tia, I swear I was going to tell you. I just needed time. I needed to wait until the right time to tell you."

"Which would have been..?" I raised both of my eyebrows with my arms folded across my chest.

"I don't know, but I wasn't trying to hold it for a long time. Maybe a few months later," he answered my question.

"Well, congratulations on baby Aria. I'm happy for the two of you," I smiled and turned away from them, about to take off.

"The two of us? The four of us. Me, you, Melissa, and the baby. We could be one big happy, but blended family," Donald spoke to me, grabbing my waist.

My face contorted into grimace, but with a smile still plastered across my face, I turned back around. "I know. I'm going to go upstairs so you can enjoy your fatherly time with your baby. When you're done, I'll be waiting."

He let go of my waist with an unreadable expression. "Alright."

DeVanté watched me leave the living room. I walked at a regular pace, but once I was no longer in that man's sight, I booked it up the stairs and when I was halfway up, I hastily dialed Jax's number on my cellphone. It rang as I made it to the master bedroom door.

"Umm, yes?" Jax spoke in confusion.

"Please get to DeVanté's house ASAP."

"I'm actually nearby. The best food is over this way than your house," he chuckled. "Is everything okay?" He said becoming serious.

"Please, just get here. Thank you. Bye," I hung up the phone.

I opened the master bedroom door and immediately went to the closet for my luggage. I'm going to pack all of my expensive and very liked items. Oh, and some of the things I purchased for him too. I'm leaving and I'm never stepping foot in this house again. Talking about some we could be one big happy and blended family... He's delusional if he thinks I'll ever fall for something like that, so I became delusional with him. I'll play into it until I leave.

I'm angry, but I'm not going to go off the deep end and break all of his things. I'm not trying to get sued for anything. Although, he could claim I did something. I just want to take my things and quietly leave. One thing I've learned from all of the stories on the news, family members' situations, and family associates is to never tell a man you're leaving. You have to remain in control of your feelings and remain compliment. When I leave, I'm pawning this engagement ring, and then I'm donating the money. To what organization? I haven't got the slightest idea. Maybe to my shelter. There's never too much money for that.

I'm not trying to fight and argue, especially because there are two of them and one of me. They'll for sure gang up on me. Now, I know that I could beat the girls behind if she tried me, but not Donald's. He's not just going to stand there while I beat on him which is understandable. I do have my gun in my purse just in case they do want to try something. I only have two hands, so I can only grab two medium-sized suitcases, especially since I won't be making two trips. Once I leave, I'm gone. Fuck him and EVERYTHING he stands for. I've been a complete idiot for believing all of this. This was too good to be true, but it's better now than later that I found out. My phone rang from my pocket, so I quickly pulled it back out and answered it.

"This is Jax. I've arrived. Should I come in or stay in the car..?" Jax awkwardly trailed his words.

"You can come to the door, but don't knock. When I come downstairs, I'll open the door, you'll grab my bags, and we'll leave. I just need you around just in case something pops off. I have my gun, but I don't want it to come down to that. If you see anyone else other than me, pay them no mind," I explained to him.

"Boss, what's goin' on?" He asked me with his voice full of concern.

"I'm never coming back here. I'll see you soon," I replied, then hung up.

Carefully and quietly, I made my way down the stairs. I don't want him to know I'm leaving until in far gone.

"She's eerily calm and has been up there for a while. She took this surprisingly well," I heard Donald speak as I made it to the bottom of the stairs. I sped and walked to the door. "I'm going to check on her."

I pulled open the door. Jax grabbed my bags and headed towards my car. I unlocked my door by pressing the button. I carefully closed the door behind me, then hastily followed Jax to my car. Jax loaded the luggage into my trunk, closed it then looked at me.

"What's goin' on?" He asked again.

"Jax, I already told you. We have to go. I have to get the fuck out of here," I spoke opening the door.

"Is anyone dead?" He questioned with a deep frown.

"Jax... No, nobody is dead," I replied with a chuckle, getting into my car. "Let's go before it turns to that."

"Oh," he nodded at me then I saw the front door open with Donald standing in front of it.

I slammed my door shut and sped off. I didn't even have enough time to put on my seatbelt. I'm not playing. I'll do exactly what I said. After doing a rolling turn around the corner, I noticed the ring still on my finger. I snatched it off and threw it into the cup holder. Straight to the pawn shop I go. My phone began to ring as I finally put on my seatbelt. Now that I'm driving on a straight street, I'm able to reach over and grab my phone. I already know who it is, so I won't even bother checking. Oh, and I'll also be changing my number today. That's the very first thing I'll do. I took the battery out of my phone. The first thing I need to do is change my phone number. I don't need it ringing all day while I'm completing each task. This is my personal, not work phone, so I'll be fine.

~DeVanté's P.O.V~

"It's too quiet," Melissa whispered to me. "Do you think she bought it?"

"I don't even know. She's eerily calm and has been up there for a while. Tia took this surprisingly well," I heard Donald speak as I made it to the bottom of the stairs. I sped and walked to the door. This feels off... "I'm going to check on her."

"Please do. Hurry," Melissa shooed me away.

I rushed out of the living room and ran up the stairs. I opened the bedroom door to see nobody there. I jogged to the master bathroom, knocked, then twisted the knob. Tia isn't in there either.

"Babe!?" I called out as I began checking other rooms. "Tia?!"

Panicked, I ran downstairs.

"Lookin' for ya lady?" Marquise, Melissa's husband inquired, while casually pouring some peanuts into his mouth.

"Yes."

"Oh, she left out of the house a little before I saw you go upstairs," he told me. "I thought you saw her.

I rushed to the door, and opened it. Once I was able to see outside, Tia and I made eye contact, she slammed her door shut and zoomed off. This lady is speeding in a neighborhood.

"Why didn't you say anything before?" Apollo asked Marquise.

"I ain't know what was happenin'," Marquise shrugged. "How was I supposed to know she'd drive away?"

I sighed because she's unpredictable. I don't know what this woman will do. This entire thing was stupid of me to do. I probably shouldn't have had Melissa and Marcus park in the garage because I definitely would've heard Tia leaving if I hadn't. Pulling my phone from my pocket, I called my fiancée several times, but to no avail.

"Wait! Jax!?" I called out, finally spotting him and he turned around, after closing his trunk. I made my way to him.

"Um, I'm not supposed to be talkin' to you..." He hesitantly spoke.

"Jax, this entire thing was a joke," I revealed to him.

"You mean to tell me that Tia was just jokin' about the killin'?"

My head jerked back. "Aye, hold on?" I frowned, "that's what she said?"

"Did the two of you team up? Is the joke on me or..?"

"Tia, it was JUST on Tia. You were pulled into the prank- look, can you call her? She may go off on the deep end. This woman isn't about to pick up my calls and hasn't been," I explained to him.

"What was the prank?"Jax asked me.

I smiled, "this was dumb of me to do. I informed Elijah about this before and he said the same thing. I did it and I regret it because..." I trailed off. "I'm mean, look who we're talking about. This woman is in a different era. This Tia is different."

"I mean... Yeah, that was-" Jax laughed, "that was dumb as fuck to do, De."

"Nigga, I just said that," I told him.

"Whatever," Jax put the phone up to his ear. We waited in silence. Jax called a second time when she didn't answer the first phone call, and then Jax removed his arm from his ear. "That shit goin' straight to voicemail. I don't know what to tell you... I would say you should've done this at her house but informed her security, but we know how she is about privacy."

"Initially, that's what I wanted to do, but I knew better. Things would've definitely gone better because I'd know where she was heading," I replied.

"And now you don't..." Jax tucked his hands into his pockets and his eyebrows raised then dropped. "All I can tell you is to go to her house and wait. I'll explain to her before she enters the gates. Whenever that is..." He chuckled. "Either that or you're fucked," he laughed even harder.

"A'ight," I nodded.

"De, is everything good?" Marquise asked me.

"Who the fuck is that?" Jax frowned. "What kind of a prank was this..? I'd want to kill somebody too if this what the fuck you be on..."

"Aye, man, this ain't that. You would never catch me doin' what you're implying because it's not something I'd do. That's just not De. Never had been and never will be. This whole thing- prank was about me bringing home a newborn. Basically, it's me cheating and having a baby in her." I finally told him after realizing that I never told him what this was about.

"Damn, that's fucked up De!"

"Yeah, the woman used in this ordeal is my wife. This was a bad idea, yes, but De is cool as hell and he paid us. So... You under why my wife and I agreed?" Marquise chuckled. "I work for this nigga and have been for a while."

"Let me let my company out, then I'll head over there," I put my hands on my head, then turned around to walk to my front door. "I should've listened to Elijah on this one. That nigga was correct," I mumbled to myself.

Marquise followed behind me, "damn, I don't know anything about your personal life, but um... Are you single? If so, I know a lot of great women." Slowly, I turned to him, mean mugging him, not speaking a single word. "Listen, I'm just tryin' to lighten the mood. Besides, do you know how many women would love to even be around DeVanté Swing? Then there's your lady bein' like this... She should know you enough to know you wouldn't do no shit like this for real."

"I ain't ever known you to be this ignorant... I guess that I was wrong about something. Then again, I don't really know you either. You just with me," I told him. "But um, I got to handle business, so y'all got to head out. I've already paid you, so we're good on that."

"Alright. Bae?" Marquise called out. "You got the baby ready?" He asked as we walked into the living room.

Melissa was strapping the baby into her car seat. "That's exactly what I'm doin' right now," she replied, clicking the buckles.

Marquise grabbed the car seat and baby bag, "we headin' out. See ya, De."

"Bye, De," Melissa waved.

They both work at my studio, Marquise is one of my mixers, and Melissa is one of the front desk clerks. I won't be in everybody's business- well, I know if do, but that's only when I'm close to the people. Only the people in my circle. They met where they work and I don't people that work at my studio to have any type of romantic relationship because it comes with drama. With that being said, they didn't want me to find out, but I eventually caught on.

I just made sure to let the shift manager give them different shifts. I also made it clear for other people who work there to not do that shit. I was invited to their wedding, which Tia attended too. She probably doesn't remember her though because it was a while ago and the lady just had a baby, so she's a little larger in size. Also, because Tia probably got too upset to even remember.

I began calling Tia a few more times as Melissa and Marquise exited my home to get into their parked car. She still didn't answer. I pressed the garage button so they could back out of the driveway. I watched them drive away before getting into my car. I backed out and then closed the garage door behind me. The knocking at my window startled me. I turned my head to see Jax. I rolled my window down halfway.

"Yeah?"

"I just thought of something. I could call her personal phone once more, and if she doesn't answer, I'll call her on her work phone. I've gotten so used to calling her personal and that's what I did maybe she'll answer then?" Jax suggested.

"Go for it," I nodded, putting my car in park.

"Aye, don't say shit either. Wait until I explain. Although, I'm still sort of in the dark about the matter. I'll just explain what I can. A'ight?" Jax gave me a look and I shrugged. Jax grabbed his phone again and called my fiancée.

I rolled my window down the rest of the way. Jax was about to hang up, but a man's voice rang through the speaker.

"Hello?"

"Yo, who the fuck is this?" I immediately spoke up.

"I work at the phone company. This shit keeps ringing and I can't do my job," his slight Arabic accent and broken English came out as he spoke.

I gave Jax a look, "phone company? Is Tia there? Tell her that her employee needs to speak with her and hand her the phone." I told him.

"Okay. I give her the phone," he replied. Then he began mumbling, which I picked up, "I don't have time for this shit." I heard shuffling noises on the phone. "Ma'am, your phone keeps ringing which makes it hard for me to do my job. Here. Your employee wants to speak to you."

I handed Jax the phone again. "Boss?"

"Yes, Jax?" Tia softly replied.

"I'm just calling to tell you that-" Jax walked away from me to continue speaking. Why? Because I was ready to speak, which may cause her to hang up again. "Everything De did was a stupid ass joke. He understands what he did was fucked up. We're just trying to stop you from doing whatever you're doing. Elijah even knew. Apparently, he was informed. If I had known, I definitely would've told you before you sped off or wouldn't have reacted the way I did. Whatever you're doing or going to do, doesn't have to be. The woman is married. I briefly spoke to the husband and it's the husband's child." He paused, listening on the other end. "Oh, okay. Well, I'll be heading to your house now. See you. Bye."

"What'd she say?" I asked as he made his way back to my car.

"Well, I could tell that she's still upset. She said she'll be on her way home now," Jax replied. "She didn't even mention whether or not I leave her things here though."

"Her things?" My head jerked back in surprise. "When the hell did she have time to pack?"

"I don't know the sequence of events. I just know that she came to the door with two suitcases. She briefly spoke to me sayin' a bunch of crazy shit that didn't make sense to me. I just was hopin' whoever was in that house was good. I was hesitant to leave. I ain't know whether or not to call the police," Jax chuckled. "Anywho, I'll see you later man." He dapped me up.

"A'ight," I replied.

Then I rolled my window up and made my way to my lady's house. The way she sped away is comical as hell because she's usually a slow driver. By that, I mean, Ms. Goody Two Shoes likes to go by the speed limit. I hate that shit because people are constantly going around us and shit. Today was different. Tia didn't even want to see my face or talk to me that she sped off so fast. It took me a while to make it to her house, especially because I got us something to eat. Jax parked in the front of the house. He stuck his head out of the window and I let mine down to see what he wanted.

"Aye, you can come to grab these bags since you gon' be going in the house. I'll let you park first though," Jax nodded at me.

I rolled my window up, pressed the garage button for her home that's in my car, and then parked inside of it. The car Tia drove in is still gone, so that lets me know she still isn't here. It's probably because she's driving slow as hell. She should expect me here though. Donald DeGrate Junior has never chased a woman, even when he did fuck up. I'm on my grown man shit and willing to make shit right. These past few years, I've gone through a maturing stage and I think I like it here. I walked out of the garage, leaving it open, and made my way to Jax's truck.

"Unlock the trunk!" I spoke aloud and knocked on the trunk window because all of his windows were up.

I heard it unlock and I opened it. "Damn, she packed two bags."

I unzipped one halfway just to see what the hell she packed. It's her going out with clothes and shoes. I closed that part and looked in one of the small compartments. There she has her perfumes; the food ones. Another compartment held her toothbrush.

"De, what you doin'?" Jax asked me, turning around in his seat.

"My bad, man. I'm just seein' what she packed," I zipped up her suitcase, then pulled one out. "Thanks for everything, man," I spoke once I got both suitcases from the trunk.

"You're welcome. Aye, I'm rootin' for y'all. Y'all good for each other, I can tell," he chuckled.

"A'ight, see you later," I closed the trunk.

I placed both suitcases in my car because I didn't know what she thought she was doing, but this ain't that. This is going back to my house where it came from and belongs. That is until we get our crib together. I then grabbed all of our food, closed the garage door, then made it into her house.

After setting the food down on the kitchen counter, I washed my hands, then began plating our food. She's going to chew me up before the food. Eventually, she'll be fine. I warmed up our plates and waited for her to come home. I waited... Waited... And waited... I called her a few times just to make sure she was okay, but this woman still didn't answer my phone calls. What's the next step? Call the front and ask Jax to call. I don't care whether she's still upset or not, I just want to make sure that's she alright.

"Aye man, can you call Tia? She hasn't come back yet and I'm worried. She still ain't pickin' up." I told him.

"You know, I was just thinkin' the same damn thing. I'll call her though," Jax replied. "Stay on this line and I'll call her on my phone."

"A'ight cool," I nodded.

I heard the phone ring on the other end and this woman still didn't pick up. I rang until it went to voicemail.

"Man, what the hell is goin' on?" Redd asked Jax.

"Just mind your business, man. That's it. That's all," Jax chuckled. "Aye De, all I can say is you got to sit in wait. I'm sure she's alright. She'll be home in no time."

"Nah... I'm finna go look for her just to be sure. Thank you. Bye." I sighed aloud as I made my way to the door.

I stuffed my feet into my shoes and stuffed my phone into my pocket. My bladder was full, so I turned back around and rushed to the bathroom, almost tripping because my shoes weren't on correctly, but I caught myself in the wall.

"Shit," I mumbled.

I took a piss, snatched my keys from the hook, then rushed out of the door.

"Oof!"

My body harshly collided with Tia's and I grabbed her around the waist, hugging her and backing up into the house. Tia closed the door behind her.

"Babe, I apologize," I whispered. "I'm so sorry for everything that happened today. I fucked up." I slightly pulled away from her to look at her. My body is wet from being against hers which is also wet. "Why are you all wet?" I lifted her chin to see her watery eyes.

"Why would you do that?"

"I- I," I sighed. "I thought about what you and Dalvin did years ago, so I piggybacked off of that."

"DeVanté, that was SO long ago. Why- why would you-?" Tia sniffled, blinking her tears away.

"That's the reason. I just thought- babe, I apologize. That was fucked up. Why are you so damn wet?"

"But that was so long ago. We weren't even together and we were young. Yeah, that was messed up of us to do to you, but this is different. We're engaged and you- you do this. Today, I even woke up feeling amazing, just to go back to your house to that mess. Who is the woman?"

"She works at my studio. We went to her wedding, remember?"

She looked off to the side, then nodded. "Suddenly, I do remember."

"You were too upset to remember," I chuckled.

"That's not funny," she frowned.

"I'm sorry," I kissed her cheek.

Tia stepped back, "I just need some time and space."

"We got nothin' but time," I told her.

"No, I need time ALONE," she emphasized. "My emotions are everywhere STILL. Very heightened."

"Where'd you go? I was worried sick about you. That's why I was leaving the house. Why were you at the phone company? What was going through your mind when you left?" I bombarded her with questions.

"Leaving you for good. I went to change my number, my locks, alarm, and pawn the engagement ring," she explained. "I was going to donate the money too because I didn't want anything from you. I didn't even cross out the first thing on this list. All I did was pack."

"Damn, that quick?" I asked her.

"You made me believe that you cheated and just brought a baby into this world. What'd you think I'd do?" She squinted, putting on her hard exterior as she crossed her arms.

I noticed her hand was bare, "where's the ring? You didn't do it yet, did you?"

"I snatched it off and threw it-"

"Babe, what?" My eyes popped open. "Are you serious?"

"It's in the car. I didn't even think about putting it back on after finding out it wasn't true. I was sick to my stomach. You just stopped me from continuing my journey around the city. I was done."

I grabbed her hands, "but now you aren't, right?"

"DeVanté, my emotions are still high right now. Please... Just give me some space. I need a little time, De. Please?" Her eyes watered again, quickly blinking them away.

"Alright, I'll give you the time you need. I'll be right here," I told her. "I understand. It went too far."

Tia turned to the door, "so..?"

"Oh, you think I'm leavin'?" I asked her and she gave me a look at my choice of words, which I very much meant. I loudly chuckled. "I said I'll be right here. This house is fat as hell. There's enough space for hella people. I'm stayin' right here in this fat ass house."

"De?"

"I meant every word that I just spoke. You'll be alright soon," I told her. "Please don't think my words are to dismiss your feelings. You can be upstairs and I'll be downstairs for a while. We are not doin' it like what you just implied. I'll for sure give you your space. We're grown as hell and adults. We won't handle our problems like this when we're married. One leaves the house- nahh," I shook my head at her.

"This is my home."

"I understand that, but I'd say the same if we were at mine, Tia."

"What if the show was on the other foot? You'd need space too."

"I be upset, yes, but I'd be a grown man and push that shit aside to handle my business. I don't want to push the woman I love away forever and you like to push people away when you're upset, but I'm not going anywhere."

"That's not what I'm trying to do, Donald," she replied. "I really need some space; alone time."

"Okay, then I've officially changed my mind..." I nodded. "I'll sleep in one of the other bedrooms. We do need to talk though and I do mean before bed. Even if that means we sleep apart. I'm serious."

Tia threw her head back with a sigh, "bye." She slid her shoes off and walked away from me.

I slowly followed behind her, "I love you." I spoke very loudly so she'd hear me.

"I love you," she mumbled and I chuckled in surprise because I thought she wouldn't say it.

I smiled at her as I watched her walk up the stairs, then spun on my heels when she made it to the top. I stopped all movement upon looking at the floor.

"Is this woman fucking with me?" I whispered to myself upon seeing the corner of a gold condom wrapper.

How do I know it's one? Because it is the same brand that I would use. Bending down, I picked it up to inspect it. Grabbing the keys to Tia's car, I went into the garage and unlocked the doors with my heart beating out of my chest. Turning on her car lights I searched all over the floors and seats to find nothing. Then I decided to check the glove compartment and still found nothing. Deciding to check the console department, I sighed in relief and dropped my head. My heart rate began to return to its normal pace.

Tia was indeed planning on getting me back is the only explanation for this. There's an entire box of condoms and the one that's out of the box has a corner torn off, but the condom is still intact. Getting me back is the only explanation for this because this woman isn't the type to just fuck somebody and lose her virginity because of something stupid that I did. Would she..? Nahhh, I know my woman.

Eventually, I'll make my way up the stairs and to the master bedroom to get me some clothes, to give her her food, and to check on Tia. For her to think she can't have space upstairs is crazy to me. Usually, she does have time to herself in a room alone. This time is a bit different due to the circumstances, but still... Besides, it's literally four minutes after one in the afternoon. There is still so much time left in the day.

Last night was amazing. April 1 is the day we agreed to stop all sexual encounters with one another, so the night before went a little crazy. Naturally, we both felt refreshed and just all-around good today, so when she got upset, she went off the deep end. There's nothing like a good day suddenly turning sour. This was supposed to be this week's date night too, so we both decided we'd have an off day, but it's clearly not going to happen. The reason this was supposed to be our date night is because this Saturday is when Tia will start cooking some do the Easter meal and she'll finish Easter Sunday after we attend church.

In the meantime, I'll be going to the basement to get some work done. I might as well because she doesn't want me in her space right now, and I'm not in the mood for television right now, so I'll be pretty much bored. I might as well get to work and do something that will eventually make me some money. I'm sure Tia will get the same idea, whether she comes down to the main floor to her office or not. I wonder where she went when she said she'd be on her way. Or did she just drive even more slowly due to the rain?
