Chapter 5.5: Unwanted Attention
No one's POV
It was getting late in the day. The sun was setting in the distance as everyone working was heading home for the evening. However...
At a docks, the young woman who spied on y/n and his fight earlier was approaching an abandoned warehouse.
When she was in front of the entrance, she stops walking and looks around her surroundings in case she was being followed. But seeing as she was clear, she turns back to the entrance and bangs her fist on it three times.
"Open up, its me!" She shouts before stepping back.
"..." A minute passes but nothing happens. The woman scowls and wraps her arms under her chest, becoming impatient.
"..." Still nothing.
"God damnit..." She mutters. She was about to slice the entrance down but she heard metal screeching against the ground. The massive metal doors slowly open up to allow only her to enter, making the girl smile a little. "Finally..." She mutters before stepping inside.
"How did it go?" The teen heard a male's voice coming from behind as the metal doors close behind her.
Inside the warehouse, the place was long but old. Crates and boxes were pushed to the sides to allow an empty hallway. Several windows were placed on the roof, allowing light to come into the place. But a few windows were cracked. At the far end of the other side of the warehouse was a small room placed up on the second story.
The teen looks over her shoulder as she kept walking. When the doors were fully closed, a teenage boy around her age steps out of the shadows and follows her. The boy had brown-ish hair and blue eyes. He wore a green jacket over a white and black shirt. He had blue skinny jeans and white sneakers.
"That's what I'm here to inform Jackson about, Riley."
"Oh?" The boy, Riley, tilts his head a bit. He jogs a little to catch up with the girl. "What happened?" He asks as he was now walking side by side with her.
"I believe we have a new target to watch over."
"Really? How dangerous are they?"
"He's...something else I tell you."
Riley cocks an eyebrow. "What does that even mean-?"
"Yo! Welcome back, Emily!" The two heard a energetic male's voice coming from their left.
The two look towards the direction the voice came from and saw another teenage boy sitting on a few crates to the side, reading a comic book. Though the boy tosses the comic to the side and stood up before hopping off the crates and lands next to the other two. Riley and the girl stop walking and stare at the boy.
And again, this boy was around the girl's, Emily's, age. He had messy pink hair and brown eyes. He wore a black and red jacket with its sleeves rolled up over a white shirt and a silver necklace. He wore black jeans and black boots. Soot could be seen on several parts of his body.
"What happened to you?" Emily asks the boy.
"Nothin'! Don't worry about me!" He exclaims. "Did you get me anything?!" He asks with excitement.
Emily gave him a confused look. "What? No, of course not. Why would I ever do that?"
The boy looks heartbroken. His arms droop as he slouches. "Whaaat? But you promised!"
"No I didn't." Emily folds her arms in annoyance. "When did I ever-?"
"Last week." Riley steps in. "When we had a situation almost exactly like this one."
Emily glares at Riley before scoffing. "Whatever. I'll do it next time, got it, David?" She turns to the pink haired boy.
The boy, David, jumps in the air and fist bump it with delight. "Alright!"
"Will all of you shut up already?" A tired but soft male voice came from behind. "I can't sleep with all this nonsense."
The trio turn around and saw another boy step out of the shadows. He was a little older than most of them. His hair was a mix of white and black. He had red eyes and pale skin. He wore a suit as his attire.
"Sorry about that, Zane." Riley apologizes. "We'll be more quiet."
"Sure you will..." Zane mutters. He turns around and walks back into the shadows.
"..." The trio stare towards Zane's direction. Eventually, the trio turn back to each other as Emily sighs.
"God..." She mutters. "I don't have time for this..."
"Right." Riley nods. "Lets go talk to the boss."
With that, the trio continue walking. The three were silent as they were thinking about different things. David wraps his arms behind his head as he hums, annoying Emily further. But he stops when they reach the other end of the warehouse. They all stop walking when they were a few feet under the room on the second floor. Riley whistles and they all wait for some thing or some one.
A moment passes and nothing happens. The three wait a little longer before the sound of boots walking on metal came from above. A few seconds later a man in his very early twenties steps out of the room and walks to the railing and rests his arms on it.
He had blonde hair and amber eyes. He wore a leather jacket with thick feathers around his neck. He wore a white shirt under his jacket. He also wore dark blue pants and grey boots.
"Welcome back, Emily." The man greets. "Are you feeling well?"
"Of course, sir." Emily nods with a small smile. "I'm fine."
"Good." The man says. "Did you take care of our little rat and his crew?"
"Not...exactly..."
The man tilts his head. "Oh? Care to explain?"
Emily did just that. She explained from her perspective about what she saw with y/n's fight. She explained how he somehow managed to fight off the thugs even though he didn't touch some of them too. The whole time the three men were carefully listening to her talk.
"I see..." The man says to himself. "Interesting..."
"Wow..." David mutters. "He sounds so cool! Can I fight him?! Please?!"
The man above chuckles a little as a small smirk grew on his lips. Riley shook his head as Emily rolled her eyes.
"Of course not, idiot!" Emily scolds. "You always want to fight someone new even though we don't know if they're a threat or not!"
"So?! It'll be just one time!" He turns his head to the boss. "Please, sir! I will hunt him down for you and-!"
"Not yet, David." The boss says. "We don't know what he's capable of as of right now." He turns his attention to Emily. "Tell me, were you able to see what he looks like?"
Emily nods. "Yes, why?"
"I see...By any chance did this boy have purple hair and a...bullet attached to a necklace?"
"That's...oddly specific, but yes."
"Hmmm..." The boss hums. He steps back from the railing with a smirk. "Good work today. Go get some rest. Riley, a word, please."
"Of course." Riley nods.
"And me?" David pleads.
"I'll need you and Zane ready for a mission. Get him and I'll talk to you two in a bit."
"But-."
"You'll get your chance soon, but be patient."
"Awwww!" David whines.
With that, the boss walks back to his room. He unknowingly had a grin on his face. 'Could it be...?' He ponders as he waits for Riley to arrive. Smoke slowly rises from his body. He lifts his left hand as smoke materializes in his hand, before crushing it. "Things gave gotten interesting..." He chuckles.
