Chapter 2: Heading into Town

No one's POV

Y/n walks down the stairs, yawning tiredly while stretching his arms out. When he reached the bottom of the stairs, a strong whiff of breakfast hits his nose. A small smile grew on his lips as he heads to the kitchen. When he got there, he saw his mother setting a plate of breakfast on the table in front of his younger brother, who was playing on his phone.

"Morning." Was all y/n said as he took a seat at the table.

"Sup." His younger brother says dryly before taking a bite of his breakfast.

"Morning, hunny." Y/n's mother greets. "Want some breakfast?"

"What are we having?"

"Just some waffles. Need to go to the store later today."

"Alright." Y/n says. His mother went into the kitchen to get y/n's food as he turns his attention to his brother. "How'd you sleep last night?"

"Meh." Was all his brother said before trying to eat his breakfast and play on his phone at the same time.

Y/n shrugs. "Same. Not used to this place yet."

"Well duh." His brother says, not looking at y/n. "You only slept here for one night, dumbass."

"I-..." Y/n glares at his brother, fighting the urge to slap him. But he manages to control himself and instead sighs. "Forget it, Jacob..."

"Okay."

The two boy's mother sets a plate of waffles in front of y/n. "Here you go."

"Thanks." Y/n says before eating.

His mom sat down at a third chair. She couldn't help but smile a little seeing her sons eating at the table.

"Mom." Y/n says after finishing one waffle. "When will the rest of our stuff be here?"

"I'm not sure. I think sometime this afternoon."

"Alright. Is it okay if I can go check out town for a bit?"

"What for?" His mother tilts her head a little.

Y/n shrugs. "No particular reason. Just want to explore for a bit. See what's new and all that."

"I see..." His mother thinks about it for a moment. "...I don't see why not." She eventually says. "Just don't stay out too long."

"I know, mom." Y/n sat up from his chair, finished eating his breakfast. "We know I can take care of myself. Besides, I'll only be gone for a few hours."

Y/n pulls out a bottle of pills from his pocket. He took off the cap and tosses a pill in his mouth before chugging his entire glass of water. After, he sets both the bottle and cup on the table before jogging to the front door. "I'll probably be gone till three because I'll be walking the whole way."

"Okay, but don't forget-!" His mom tried to get y/n's attention, but he yells over her words.

"Love you. Later!" Y/n ran out of the door but closes it behind him.

"...Your wallet..." His mother mutters as she heard the door slam shut. "..." Knowing she can't call y/n to come back, she lets out a sigh. "Oh dear..."

"He probably already knows, mom." Y/n's mother heard Jacob tell her.

"Hmm?" She turns her head to her second son, who was playing on his phone.

"He probably knew you were going to say yes, so that's why he didn't go back to his room."

"How do you know?"

Jacob shrugs. "Heard the shower turn on while you were cooking, so I guessed."

"I see..."

Jacob got up from his chair and made his way to the living room. "Thanks, mom." He says, not taking his eyes off his phone.

Jacob's and y/n's mom was left in the kitchen all alone. Seeing both of her children not bothering to clean up their plates made her scoff. "Of course they don't bother..."

Suddenly she heard the phone ring from within the kitchen. "Huh?" She looks towards the direction and got up from her chair. "Who could be calling this early...?" She mutters.

She walks over to where she heard the phone ringing. Surprisingly, it was by the sink even though she didn't put it there. But, she shrugs it off. She couldn't recognize the numbers calling her, but she decided to answer anyways.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Samatha. It's me." A woman's voice spoke tiredly on the other end. It sounds very noisy in the background.

"???" Y/n's mom, Samantha, doesn't recognize the voice. But that quickly changes as she gasps in surprise. "Raven?!"

"Who else would it be?" The other, Raven, jokes before chuckling.

"Oh my god, hi! How are you?" Samatha asks before her and Raven began having a long conversation.

Meanwhile...

Y/n had debated which way of the sidewalk to take to go to the city. He forgot which way went where. But he eventually chose to go left. He jogs to the sidewalk and was about to run, but suddenly stops. He looks over his shoulder to the neighbor's house, remembering the woman from before. Though he shook any thoughts of her out of his mind before sprinting off. He mentally scolds himself as he ran through the neighborhood.

Meanwhile...

At the neighbor's house, the two woman y/n met/saw yesterday walk out of the front door. As they did, the woman y/n talked to had two small backpacks on her back as the little boy and girl walk to one of two cars on the driveway.

"I still don't understand, sis!" The blue haired woman yells to the other as the latter unlocks the car. "Why can't you just spare some-?!"

"I already told you, Victoria!" The other shouts back, opening the car door and tossing the two backpacks into the car. "I don't have any money left to give you!"

"But-!" The blue haired woman, Victoria, tried to argue, but was quickly cut off.

"Let's not talk about it anymore for now, okay? I have to get my kids to school and go to work. You still need to find a new job."

"But-!"

"We'll talk about it later, Victoria." Was all the other woman said, sternly. Her children were already in the car and she gets in as well.

Victoria scoffs. "Fine, whatever..." She mutters under her breath. She got into her car and was the first to leave the driveway. When she was on the road, she shuts her eyes for a moment and lets out a frustrated sigh. "Jesus, I'm too stressed out for the morning..." She mutters.

When she reopen her eyes, she saw y/n running down the sidewalk next to her. "Hmm?" She glances at him for a brief moment and thought nothing much of him. But when she realizes she reaches a stop light, she took this chance to stare at y/n again as he was about to pass her by.

"Who's he?" She ponders. She's never seen him before. Was he the new neighbor that her sister in law mentioned?

Victoria studies him for a moment. She noticed his purple hair and his blue eyes. He isn't too bad looking. I bet he's not too bad in bed. She thought. It took her a second or two to realize what she just thought. Her eyes widen in shock before she shook the thoughts out.

'D-did I just...no...no, I couldn't have...' She told herself. 'I'm sure it's from the stress... Y-yeah...that's it...' Victoria sighs. She continues to drive when the light turns green. She saw y/n turning a corner as she went straight.
