It was a...strange day in the Ancient Forest. The New World suffered a massive and aggressive storm last night more than it usually has in the past. It was the worst it has been in over thirty years. Trees were sent ablaze due to lighting striking the ground, areas flooded with rain and sent any creatures running to get to higher ground, and mudslides sent several monsters crashing into the ground and covered in mud. The wind blew so strong it ripped countless trees out of their roots and sent them flying as they were practically ripped out of the ground.

No one's POV

Deep inside the Ancient Forest, an Anjanath was seen limping through a small clearing. It's right leg was injured from trying to escape an unexpected mudslide last night as it tried to find shelter from the storm. However, it couldn't find any in time.

It cautiously stops limping, picking up a strange whiff in its nostrils. It smelled something that smelled...oily(?), but burnt at the same time. It cautiously looks around its surroundings to find the source, and found a strange object on the ground to its right.

It appears to be some kind of egg, but strange. It was practically glued to the floor by some dried up material as it's shell was black and covered in spikes. It was almost as tall as an average human. However, what was probably the strangest thing about it was the fact that the center was glowing, no, more like pulsing. A strange red aura pulses in the center like a heartbeat.

The Anjanath tilts its head a little, confused. Yet curiosity got the better of it as it slowly and carefully walks towards the egg-like anomaly. When it was close enough, it leans down and sniffs the object. It squints it's eyes as it doesn't recognize anything smelling like this egg. The monster lifts its head up and looks around its surroundings, making sure it's mother wasn't nearby, feeling quite hungry as it hasn't ware in almost a day. It doesn't particularly trust the egg, but something this size means it can last it a while until it can find something more recognizable to eat.

However, as the Anjanath was busy looking around, it didn't notice the egg's aura began to beat faster, as if waking up. A small part of the egg suddenly cracks before falling to the ground and revealed a red, glowing, slimy material under the shell. Then, another piece broke off and revealed more of the substance under it. Again, a third, then a fourth, but much larger chunk broke off.

The Anjanath heard the egg breaking and slowly turns its head to the egg. It knew if whatever was going to be born out of the egg, it'll scream for its mother. So, knowing it had to act quickly, it opens its jaw as strands of saliva connected between its lower and upper jaw. It was about to rip the egg apart, until a grey scaly and muscular arm bursts out of the red substance. A quiet roar could barley be heard from within the egg.

The Anjanath stumbles back, caught off guard. It squints it eyes while letting out a quiet growl. It sneaks around it as it got defensive. It cautiously steps in a circle around the egg, waiting to see what happens next.

Another arm bursts out of the egg. The rest of the shell tears off as the red substance suddenly bursts like a bubble. When it did, a strange creature was all that was left of the egg. The Anjanath stops walking as it was confused as to what the newborn was.

The creature was as tall as an average adult human. It was surprisingly muscular and had a saurian/humanoid frame with a thick hide, covered in barley noticeable spikes and barbs. It is bipedal and was standing on its hind legs. The head was rounded and looks well armored. It's red glowing eyes darts around to study its surroundings, yet they were filled with rage and lust for blood even for a newborn. The skull is connected to the rest of the body at the back of the neck instead of at the base of the skull, allowing it full range of visibility.

The mouth of the monster possesses a long thin tongue and a large pair of mandibles on the lower jaw that are visible when the creature roars. The eyes and mouth barley glowed a bright red color, as if there is a fire burning deep within its body, starting at the neck and travelling all the way down to the chest area. Its neck has several overlapping scale-like plates of armor that resemble glowing red gills. It's tail was tipped with a cluster of spikes. Each foot possess four toes: two in the center, a smaller toe on the outside and one additional toe that juts backwards, making a distinctive footprint.

The creature's eyes eventually came across the Anjanath as it stood behind it. The creature turns around and growls, startling the much taller Anjanath. It doesn't know what to do as it never seen something like the new monster before. The new creature took a deep breath before lifting its head up into the sky and roars, frightening the Anjanath further. The Anjanath was about to run away, but the monster finishes roaring and charges at the Anjanath via a leap.

As the creature was about to land on its feet a meter away from the Anjanath, its chest glows red as its mouth did too, before breathing fire. Even though Anjanath's are mostly resistant to fire, the sheer force from the creature made it stumble back as it whines. When the creature was done, it leaps into the air again as it reels its right arm back. It slams its fist into the ground right next to the Anjanath's toes and created a small shockwave as it crushes the ground, sending the Anjanath falling on its side. The Anjanath panics and wiggles its body to get back up, but the creature dugs it claws into the ground and with enough strength, pulls out a boulder and lifts it over its head. The creature smashes it into the Anjanath's face, breaking its snout and bloodied it's face.

As the creature was too focused on the Anjanath's face, the latter managed to swing its tail at the creature and sent it stumbling back enough so the Anjanath can pick itself back up. The Anjanath growls in frustration before its fins on its back erect as it roars, sparks of flames escape its mouth. However, the other creature recollects itself as it clenches its claws and bangs its chest and roars too, trying to show dominance.

When the two were done, the Anjanath sprints forward as the creature got on all four and sprints towards the Anjanath much quicker. The creature leaps into the air and lifts both claws over and behind its head before slamming them down onto the Anjanath. The Anjanath took the hit as it spun around and slaps the creature on the chest. Normally most creatures would be sent rolling on the ground by this, but the creature managed to grab hold of the tail and dug its claws into it, making the Anjanath roar in pain as blood oozes out.

The creature lands on the ground and used its strength to pull the Anjanath towards it before letting go. The Anjanath didn't have time to prepare as the creature punches it in the face, sending several teeth flying out of its mouth. The Anjanath crashes into the dirt, too weak to get back up as it pants. The creature walks towards the Anjanath as it's fists were engulfed in flames.

Meanwhile...

A loud roar of pain echos outside the area the two were at. This startled any small living creature nearby and sent them scurrying or flying away as fast as they could. However, the roar was cut short as a loud snap overlaps it before all that was left was silence.

...

The small creature stood victorious in front of the Anjanath's corpse. All that was left were small bits of organs and flesh, bloodied bones, and a puddle of blood surroundings the corpse. The creature's hands, mouth, and even a bit of its chest was covered in blood as it breaths heavily.

The creature clenches its claws again before roaring into the air, breathing fire as it does so. When it was done, it turns around and leaps away, leaving the corpse to whatever else wants the remaining scraps.
