It was mostly peaceful in the Hoarfrost Reach. Not much happed for most of the day, mostly. An occasional turf war between two monsters would happen every now and then as others would simply do their own thing. However, something...odd, has recently appeared...

No one's POV

Right now, a trio of female hunters were walking through the snow and heading towards a massive cave made of ice. Behind them to the right was a small hot spring filled with Pearlspring Macaques as a few Anteka walk by. One wore a full set of Zinogre armor with a longsword, the other wore a Rathalos armor set with a greatsword, and the third wore a Velkhana set with a heavy bowgun on her back.

"So...Do you two have an idea where he went?" The one in Velkhana set asks with a high-pitched voice as she starts to slow down, her feet starting to feel sore from walking all day.

The other two stop a few feet away from the first. They turn around as the one in Zinogre armor folds her arms.

"He should be around here?" The one in Rathalos armor replies, unsure as she shrugs. "He said we should meet around here as he gets the monster in the open. But-."

"You think something happened to him, don't you?" The one in Zinogre armor asks with a deep yet emotionless voice. Her face showed little expression as the others looked a little worried.

"I'm not saying that, Abigail." The one in red quickly responds, sharply. "I know he can handle himself just fine. I'm just a little worried that the monster had-."

The trio stop when they heard the faint sound of heavy footsteps approaching. They all quickly and cautiously look around themselves as they tried to find the source of the footsteps. They had their hands ready to pull out their weapons in case they needed to fight. However, seeing a Banbaro approaching the area from the forest made them relax a little. The one in Rathalos armor lets out a relieved sigh before letting go of her handle. The one in Zinogre armor, Abigail, smirks a little as she lets out a huff. The one in Velkhana armor lets out an embarrassed chuckle as a single drop of sweat drops from her cheek.

"Looks like it was just a false alarm." The Velkhana armored woman jokes.

The other two barley nod in in agreement as they saw the moose-like monster head to the hot springs. Just as Abigail and the one in red were about to head towards the cave, the third noticed the monster suddenly stop in its tracks as it sniffs the air, as if picking up a strange scent.

"Huh?" She mutters.

After sniffing for a moment, the woman noticed that the Banbaro practically spun around before running back to the forest. This made the hunter worried.

"Uhhhh...girls-." She tried to warn the others, but when she turns her head to them, she noticed they were several feet ahead and halfway to the cave. "?!" She was about to run after them, but the trio suddenly heard an unusual roar echo throughout the Hoarfrost Reach, making them all stop and look into the air.

Any and all living things heard this roar. Dozens of Cortos and Stonebill were seen from below flying into the air, trying to flee the scene. The Pearlspring Macaques and Antekas stop what they were doing and look into the air as well. That was for a brief moment before they all decided now was the time to flee. So, they all ran into the forest as fast as they could.

"Crap..." Abigail mutters, growling. She scowls as she grabs the handle of her longsword and unsheathes her weapon. "Sarah, Zoey, on me!" She orders over her shoulder.

The other two did the same and followed her order. They pulled out their weapons and ran up to her and slam their backs with hers, watching each other's blind end. They didn't know where the roar came from, so they're on the defensive side instead of running towards the roar like a normal hunt.

An unknown amount of time passes. To them, it felt like eternity, but in reality it was only a few minutes. Just as they were about to drop their guard, they heard another roar, except it sounded familiar but weak. They look up and saw a massive white object flying towards them from the massive ice mountains.

"Everyone down!" Abigail barks.

Everyone leaps out of the way as the object came closer. Just as they all got enough distance, the object crashes into the snow, sending snow, dirt, and stone flying everywhere as dust rise into the air. A moment passes before the trio slowly got on their feet. As they did, they look over their shoulders and saw a massive dragon-like silhouette slowly rise from a crater and a low growl and pants coming from the creature. The dust settles as the girls found a Barioth within the crater get on its feet as it weakly shook any snow off its head.

It looks up and saw the one in Velkhana armor, Sarah, a few feet in front of its face. She was about to attack it, but noticed its right saber tooth was made out of metal. Her eyes widen in shock as she gasps before running to the creature.

"Are you okay?!" She shouts at the monster.

"..." The creature was still panting heavily and slowly as it stares at her with its icy blue eyes. Normally hunters would kill monsters like this one on sight, but this one was different. Smoke starts to form around its body as it shrunk. It's body starts to change to a more human-like shape as Sarah stops running. A minute later a man in armor resembling the Barioths skin walks, well, more like wobbles, out of the smoke with a longsword made out of the same material was sheathed on his back.

He was about to loose his footing, but Sarah catches him in her arms, helping him stay on his feet. He weakly looks up to her and nods, trying to say thank you, while panting heavily. Sarah nods back as she saw his breath escape from under his helmet before she looks up and saw the other two approach them.

"How is he?" Zoey asks.

"I think he'll be alright." Sarah replies. "I think a mega potion and some rest should do the trick."

"Well, unfortunately I don't think we have time for that." Abigail spoke up.

"Why's that-?"

Everyone felt the ground begin to rumble. The water in the hot spring behind them began to shake violently as the rumbling started to come closer. The three turn towards the cave and saw a massive blue spiky ball roll out of it and into the snow. It stops a few yards away from the four before it unfolds itself and reveals itself as a strange monster.

The monster was the size of a three-story house. It glares at the four with its multiple eyes before blinking all of them in unison. Then, it roars towards them, sending a weak cold breeze past them as they shut one eye and held their arms up to protect their faces.

"Damnit! It's here!" Sarah says as the other two female hunters grab their weapons and the monster stops roaring. Sarah gently places the man on the snow before grabbing her bowgun and aims it at the monster. "We need to distract it as the cart comes and picks y/n up!" She yells.

"Right!" Zoey yells back, not taking her eyes off the monster as Abigail only nods.

The monster charges forward as Abigail and Zoey ran ahead and left Sarah to be their range attacker. Sarah began raining bullets into the beast's armor as Abigail tried to stab her sword into its hind legs and Zoey went for its forearms. However, the monster swung its massive, yet slow arms everywhere, making it hard to attack it. Abigail noticed this and yelled for Zoey, who heard her over the gunshots. She noticed Abigail nod to her, which she instantly knew what she meant and nods back. The two ran towards each other as the monster tried to attack them via slamming its fist into the ground.

When the two were close enough, Abigail leaps into the air towards Zoey as the latter readies her greatsword before launching Zoey into the air with her massive sword. Zoey was launched higher than the monster's reach as it tried to slap her out of the air, but missed. Zoey lifts her sword over her head and grips her weapon tightly as she readies a massive attack. She lets out a battle cry as she was near the monster's face.

Before anything else could happen, everything turns black.
