Chapter Seventeen.

Lillian rocked Zane as she walked around in her room, trying to get him to go to sleep but every time she would set him down to sleep when his eyes close, he just wakes back up and starts crying. She pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed, but it sounded almost like a cry. She was so tired and it was only eight thirty.

Zane was drooling against her shirt, her arms were hurting from carrying him, and she just wanted Ryan to be here so he could try and make him go to sleep.

"Please, Zane, go to sleep!", she begged him.

She went over to her CD player and put in a soft piano playing, hoping that would calm him down. She felt bad for wanting him to fall asleep so she could have some peace and relax when her baby was sick and needed all her attention time ten.

She sat down on her bed, holding Zane against her chest, his little head laying on her shoulder as she leaned over and turned off the lights, hoping it would work.

Zane was against her chest, laying his head on her chest down, and fell asleep her chest rising and falling.

"Oh come on.", she whispered quietly to Zane. "You just wanted the lights off?".

She was his shirtless back, messaging his little muscles, and it was quiet now. She gave it fifteen minutes before she slowly got up from her bed, holding Zane against her chest, and walked over to his crib, peeling him off her chest, and settling him in his crib with his blanket.

He stayed asleep and she even stood there just in case. Yup, he was fast asleep.

She dragged her butt downstairs and made her a plate of food she didn't get to eat. She scuffed the delicious stake and baked potato down with a can of soda.

While she was eating, the door had opened and Ryan came into the kitchen, sitting next to her at the table. Her eyebrows came together when she saw he looked kind of distracted and she cleared her throat. "What's wrong?".

He looked up at her and shrugged, "Nothing.".

She raised an eyebrow, "Are you sure? Did something happen at work today?".

"No.", he said, shook his head once.

"I know when someone has something on their mind, Ryan.", she said, sitting her fork down. "Come on, it can't be that bad you can't tell me.".

He looked at her for a moment, "I think Hanna likes me.", he said and it was her turn to stare at him blankly as she tired to wrap what he just said in her head. He sighed as he got up, "You were right, Lil.", he said as he walked over to the fridge.

She turned in her seat, "But she told me the other night I had nothing to be worried about, that she doesn't see you that way. Are you sure?".

"Well she didn't say it, but she made it a little obvious to me.", he said, opening his can of soda.

She got up from the chair and walked over to him, "And what did you say to her?".

"Nothing.", he said. "What could I have said?".

"Well. . .", she trailed off, not sure what to say to him. "I don't know.".

"My thoughts also.", he said, sitting the can on the counter. "I don't think she'll try anything."

"Well, good.", she said, raising her chin a little. "You are mine, Ryan Miller.", she teasingly said, poking his chest.

He chuckled and put his hands on her waist as he kissed her. She wrapped her arms around his neck as she leaned up on her tip toes to kiss him. Ryan's hands slid under her shirt, but she sighed as she moved away from the kiss, taking her arms down, "Not feeling it right now.", she said, her shoulder slugging.

"Your joking, right?", he asked.

She shrugged her right shoulder, "You spend the whole day with Zane while he's sick and I haven't even gotten a shower today. I mean, I stink.", she said, lifting her right arm up and smelled her armpit.

Ryan put her arm down, "I believe you.", he said and she winced her eyes up at him. "And you haven't shaved your legs in a long time either. I can't believe how fast they grow in such short time.".

"Hey, shut up.", she said. "It winter, I need to keep them warm somehow.", she jokingly said.

"Not when your hair are prickly.", he said, walking around her to get himself a plate of food.

"Hey, you know I'm not like most girls and I'm a mommy, I'm have way more things to worry about then looking all pretty and do my hair all day.", she said, walking back over to the table.

Lillian had forgotten all about Duncan since Zane had been keeping her busy, but while riding to school made her remember and she wasn't sure if she was ready to see him again. She guesses she just has to grin and bear it while she can and hopefully avoid him.

The kiss has just made everything so awkward between them.

When they pulled into the school entrance and parked, Lillian sighed and ran her hand down her face, "I wish I could have just stayed in bed all day, at least Zane less active when he's sick.".

"I know it sucks, but don't worry, Duncan knows better. I have eyes everywhere in this school.", he said.

"Liar.", she said. "I think whatever you did though might have scared him, he hasn't texted me at all so you did a good job.".

"Perfect.", he said and they got out of the car to go to their classes.

Lillian walked into Biology and was happy she didn't see Duncan here yet. She sat down at her seat and took her homework out. Mr. Deck came over to her table and placed yesterday on her desk as he walked passed. She pouted, wanting to cry a little since she'll have that and tonight homework to do, not to mention the extra homework she'll have in other classes.

"It's quite easy.", she heard Duncan voice and she jerked as she looked up at him, not realizing he had came into the room. She was to busy mopping to herself. He took the seat next to her, "Should only take about fifteen minutes.".

Lillian put her homework in her Biology book, getting up to leave, but Duncan put his hand on her arm, "Wait.", he said

She sighed and sat back down, "I don't have time for this, Duncan.", she said, not able to look at him.

"I know,', he whispered so no one would be in their business. "I know I shouldn't have done what I did at the party, I was just drunk and thought it was a cool idea. You know I'm not really like that.".

"Everything so awkward now though.", she said. "I don't think we should study together anymore.".

"Come on, don't let what I did ruin our friendship.", he said. "I like study and doing homework with you, it's fun.".

"Well I can't, Ryan wouldn't like it.", she said.

"So you do what Ryan tells you to do now?", he asked.

"Of course not, Duncan, but what happened-"

"So tell me why you really don't want to.", he said.

She glared at him, he was just pissing her off now. She doesn't have to explain herself to him. "I respect Ryan, he's the father of my child and my boyfriend. I wouldn't hang out with the guy who he doesn't like.", she said as she got up to move seat.

Lillian bailed on lunch and she was sleeping in the back seats of Ryan car. Her phone was set to wake her up five minutes before lunch was over, but a twenty-five minute nap will be enough for her to re-energize.

She had what felt like a long day, just seeing Duncan was hard. She wanted to just forget about him kissing her, but Ryan wouldn't like that and she wasn't lying when she said she wouldn't hang out with someone Ryan didn't like.

When twenty five minutes passed, Lillian forced her half sleeping butt out of the car and make her way back to her dumb classes.

{Ryan}

Ryan put the plate of food done in front of the man, "Lobster tail for you, sir.", he said. "Everything alright?", he asked and the man and his wife nodded. He nodded once before going over to another table to ask if a family was enjoying their meal and see if he could get them the women a new soda.

"Ice tea please.", she said and he nodded, taking her empty cup.

He went over to where the fountain was, putting the dirty cup in a bucket, and grabbed a clean cup. As he purred the ice tea in the cup, Hanna came up beside him, grabbing a cup, and purred some soda in there, "Are you going to talk to me?", she asked, looking up at him.

He looked down at her and took his hand off the lever, "Hi.".

She rolled her eyes, "You know what I'm trying to say. Look, Ryan, I wasn't myself yesterday. PMS or something I guess.".

He nodded, "Okay, I get it. I guess I should tell you though I'm leaving, I'm starting a new job next Monday.".

Her eyebrows came together quickly and she looked confused and surprised, "What?".

"I did tell you I was looking for another job.", he said.

"Cause Lillian told you.", she said. "I know you love this job.".

"My new job pretty much the same and they pay better.", he said. "Diapers and milk is expensive, Hanna.".

"I-I know that, but Ryan, we were having so much fun working together.", she said, looking sad and he lowered his head, feeling bad a little.

He grabbed a lemon slice and put it around the edge of the drink, "I should get this to the women. I'm sorry, Hanna.", he said, turning around and left.

After worked, he went into the locker room to grabbed his jacket and keys. He opened the locker and reached for his jacket when a pair of hands came around, blocking his eyes. Her jerk and snapped around, surprised to see Hanna.

"What are you doing?", he asked.

She smiled, "I came up with something, Lillian doesn't have to know.", she said, standing up on her tip toes and kissed him.

His eyes widen and he put his hands on her shoulder, pulling her back, "Hanna!" he said in shock.

"Don't be dumb, you know I have liked you for a long time.", she said and his eyebrows came together, confused. He never suspect she like him before. "Ryan please, Lillian never has to find out. You can't really tell me you can't stand her anymore. You even said she can be bossy.".

"I never said I didn't love her though.", he said.

She snorted, "Ryan, guys don't stay with their girlfriends and if they do, they always have another girl on the side. She never has to know.", she said, grinning as moved closer to him, leaning up to kiss him.

"Hanna, this isn't you.", he said. "You could have told me so much sooner then this, why now?".

"I had to make Lillian believe she had nothing to worry about and she wouldn't be on our case. Nothing wrong going to happen.", she said, pecking him on the lips.

"Hanna, no!", he said sternly as he took a side step away and she looked hurt. "You should know me enough to know I'm not like everything guy out there.", he said, reaching into his locker and grabbed his stuff before leaving the locker room.
