Chapter Seven.

Lillian gave an excited gasp as she unwrapped Zane gift her mother had gotten him, "Zane, look what nana and pappy got you! Your very own walker!", she said and Zane bounced up and down on Ryan lap, slapping the box.

After all the unwrapping, Lillian placed Zane on the floor with his little cousin, Junior in the crib. Brad had his son two months after Lillian and just like his word, he name him after him, but everyone just Junior, saying it would be horrible to nickname him BJ with a lot of immature people now a days.

Their two cute together, Lillian thought, pinching Junior cheeks softly and he smiled up at her.

Lillian got up and helped her mother in the finish up some Christmas dinner. Ryan was in the living with her father and brother, them playing video games. Lillian watched as Ryan jump up, shouting in victory as he beat her dad in football. Brad and Cassandra just rolled their eyes, Brad saying it was his turn and Ryan should be warned how good he is.

Lillian gave a small smile before turning back to the sweet potato's, cutting them up. Her mom came up next to her, taking the in leaves off the corn and smiled, "It was a nice Christmas.", she said.

Lillian smiled wider, "It was, Zane and Junior are two little spoiled boys.".

"Grandparents spoil their grandchild.", she said. "Like have grandma spoiled you three.".

Lillian chuckled, "True."

"So how are things with school?", she asked. "You said it was getting hard?".

"It's getting better, Duncan really smart and had patients with me I guess.", she said. "I think I might be able to get A's and B's this time if I keep it up with him.".

Her mom smiled, "That's great. Your showing you can do school and be a mommy.".

Lillian gave an exhausted sighed, "Grades are good, but it's so hard just getting up. Zane at least wakes up two times a night now.".

"I know, Lil.", she said. "I can see how tired you can be sometimes, your eyes show them. How are you and Ryan doing?".

Lillian shrugged, "Fine.".

"Any problems?", she asked and Lillian gave her a confused look. "I'm just asking because-i don't know, you two seem distance something. You barley spoke each time you visit before today that last few times."

"Ryan tried to.", she said. "With Zane, school, and work-we're just tired. Feelings like we've been married for like thirty years.".

Her mom chuckled, "It well all pass when Zane gets older. It felt like that with me and your father when we had Bradly, we were always tired and felt distance. You two just need to spend more time with each other without Zane.".

Lillian nodded before she remember the Valentine's dance, "Oh, mom, I've was going to ask you if you could take Zane over night on February fifteen.", she said and her mother gave her a confused look. Lillian knew she was going to ask why, so she just told her, "It's the school dance date for Valentine's. I wanted to go, but we'll need someone to take care of Zane and Meredith already watching Zane for me when I'm at school.".

"Sure.", she said.

She smiled and kissed her cheek, "Best mom in the world.".

Two weeks later.

Lillian was smiling excitedly as she walked down the hallways as she looked at her report card. In her six classes, she mostly got A's and B', only in math she as a C. She didn't make honor rolls, but she was very pleased with her grade.

"Whoa, what's with the smile?", she heard Duncan voice and she paused, seeing him at his locker. He grabbed his jacket and closed his locker, "I'm guessing you got what you wanted? Where's my big fat thank you?".

She pursed her lips, giving him a 'shut up' look, and smiled. "Okay, okay, Duncan. Thank you very much, if it wasn't for you, this wouldn't have happened.".

He chuckled while taking her report card and check over it, "Oh, jeez, a C? Great, I'm a failure!", he said, dramatically giving her back the report card and brought a hand up to his eyes. "Has the world stopped spinning? None of my tutees has always made honor rolls, Lord strike me down!", he sarcastically said.

Lillian chuckled and hit his arm, "It's better then D's. Seriously, Duncan, thank you.", she said, stepping forward to shake his hand, but when she came towards him, he must have thought she would have hugged him because he put his arms around her. Sparing the awkwardness, she quickly put her arms around him, hugging him back.

Suddenly someone cough and Lillian jumped back, seeing Ryan, looking back and forth between them. "Hey.", he said, pausing on Duncan.

"Hey.", Duncan said, giving Ryan an awkward smile, trying to play cool.

Just to save the awkwardness Lillian was terribly feeling, she told Ryan the excited news. She stepped towards him, smiling brightly like how she was a moment again, "Guess what, Ryan. I did it, I made the good grades this time.".

"Really?", he asked. "That's great, Lil, I'm proud of you.", he said, taking her hands. "Come on, I have to get to work.".

"Oh, wait.", she said, taking her hand out of his to turn to Ducan. She wanted to ask him a question. She knows he might not have time, but she still wanted to ask, "Duncan, I was wondering-I know you may be busy and probably not want to do, but I was wondering if sometimes we could study together again. I did so well because of you and I want to graduate with amazing marks, so do you-".

He chuckled, "Sure, Lillian, I'll like to have someone smart as me to study with. Not trying to be rude, but some of these girls are not so bright as you.", he said and she blushed a little, trying hard not to giggle. She didn't know why, but she felt flattered.

"Okay, well, great. We'll talk about it more tomorrow, okay?", she asked.

"Of course.", he said. "Tomorrow.".

She nodded before turning back to Ryan and they left. It was quiet on the way back, though Lillian couldn't stop smiling down at the grades.

"You and Duncan seem like good friends.", Ryan then said and she looked up at him, a little confused.

"Yeah, I guess.", she said. "He's nice.".

"I hear a lot of girls in the Junior hallways seem to like him.", he said. "Good at sports, school, and with the ladies.".

She chuckled, "Ryan, where are you getting at?".

He shrugged, "He seems to like you.".

"He's a nice guys, he's like that with everyone.", she said. "He's just a likeable guy.".

He nodded and pulled up at the house and turned to her, "How about you? Do you like him?".

Her smiled disappeared, "Not like how you think I like him, Ryan. He's a good friend, one of the few I have.".

"And what do you think how I think how you think about him?", he asked, confusing her a little.

It took her a minute to realize what he meant, "Ryan, I don't like him like that.", she said and he turned back in his seat, lowering her head. She sighed and took off her seat belt, leaning over to him and put her hand on his face to turn his face to look at her "Ryan, come on, you wouldn't feel this way if it was a girl. Well, it's the same with Duncan, you have nothing to worry about. Aren't you the one who always say we should trust each other?".

He stared at her for a moment, "Damnit.".

She gave him a serious look, "Ryan, please. I love you, so much. You don't have anything to be jealous about.".

He snorted, "I'm not jealous.".

She grinned, "I may have not have my fair share of boyfriends, but I know when a guys jealous.".

He was silent for a moment before sighing heavily, "Can I help it? Ever since you had Zane-you changed. Your looks, I mean.".

She gave him a confused look, not sure what he means. Nothing much has changed about herself. Okay, maybe sure her boobs has gotten bigger, but nothing else. "I don't understand, Ryan. Cause really, I feel ugly most of the time.".

"Well not everyone thinks you have. Most of my friends say how 'hot' and 'beautiful' you gotten.", he said. "Your dress defiantly, my mom surly took over your clothes. Your body has has a figures, and you don't wear glasses anymore. You were always beautiful before, you just never flaunt it before.".

"And now I do?", she asked.

"Yes, but you just don't notice.", he said. "Which is okay, everyone else is seeing how beautiful you are. I just don't like guys-wanting interest.".

She couldn't help but giggling and run her hand through his hair, "Oh Ryan, you'll never have anything to worry about. Your to damn cute to let go of.", she said, kissing his cheek and he smiled. "Don't ever think I could love someone else as much as I love you. Beside Zane, but you know what I mean.".

"I do.", he said. "I'll try to be less jealous cause know I know how you feel about my friendship with Hanna.".

She kept her smile up, faking it. He just had to bring her up though! No, no Lil, your not jealous. He's right, they both have friends of the opposite sex and everything is perfect.

"Right.", she said, kissing him. "I'll see you when you get home. Try to snatch me some cake.".

"Will do.", he said, kissing her one more time before she got out the car.
